      I do put a lid and blanket on my loaves to force gel phase. But it's good to take a peek a few hours in and make sure they aren't overheating...

    Thank you once again Ellen, for yet another Fabulous tutorial! I’ve learned more from you than I did with any of the classes I’ve taken! Would you ever consider teaching and offering classes via Udemy? You’d do amazingly well! I would definitely sign up!
    Also, the one thing (maybe only thing I really learned that was helpful in my online class) was to put a rubber band around my embed molds to help keep them stable and upright when filling. They also encouraged adding several bands to the giant tube embed molds which can separate at the seams. Though yours did great no matter, but thought I’d mention it, as I don’t have much else to offer. Lol! I’m still learning. Everything you do is graceful and elegant.

    Your embeds are so pretty. I can't wait to get back to making cold process soaps. I didn't make any this summer because my kids are always stuck up my butt, and I didn't want to take any chances. We made some melt and pour this summer. Our local library let me do a melt-and-pour children's activity for their summer programs they put on.

    What a fantastic video for new soapers! Very detailed and informative 😃
    I have the little pumpkin molds too! I made wax melts with them AND I was LITERALLY just looking at the leaf mold at Hobby Lobby about an hour ago! Lol!! I was like hummm🤔 I like them but it think that’s going to be tedious to pour so I passed on them.
    You have patience!

    You made me laugh today Ellen. I don’t like to waste anything and do pretty much the same. Just made my 100 % raw goat’s milk dog shampoo and patchouli soap today and to keep the milk cold Put my pitcher inside ice bath and that water went to my mint plants. Beautiful soaps. I am done with fall soaps. Waiting on my soaper choice shipment to start of the other products since I am planning to release my collection on 9/21. Can’t wait to see more of your creations

    Which is best for embeds, CP or Clear melt and pour base? Wouldn’t the colors be brighter with M&P?

    That ice cream scoop is my saving grace! Son is always asking where the ice cream scoop is...LOL...try hard to keep them all separate. I bought mine years ago from the Amish. My mom has her dad's. My brother "called it". Darn it. Not made like they used to. Still good, but not as phenom as the 1900's!

    11:28 I was wondering about usage rates as well, I noticed on bescented a lot of the FO's are super high % for cat9. I thought maybe they were typos, never seen such high usage% on other sites or maybe I'm just not paying close attention...

    • @EllenRuthSoap
      @EllenRuthSoap  2 роки тому +1

      Whenever the usage rates are super high like that, I use 5% as my default amount.

    • @EllenRuthSoap

      If you change an oil, you'll need to run the numbers thru soap calc to make sure the lye is the same.

  • @diamondkranch9341

    When adding sugar Is there a “too much” amount, Like the rule of 1 tsp of sodium lactate per lb of oil?

    • @diamondkranch9341
      @diamondkranch9341 2 роки тому

      Also if you use sugar in your lye would you not want to use citric acid or use both?
