I think that is James Cotton on the "harmonica" This is the recording on "Hard Again" made by Johnny Winter. Sorry, facts don't care about your feelings.
I've seen the movie/documentary many times. But man- just focusing on this part reminds me how amazing it was. Damn. Wish I was older and could have been there.
Muddy Waters is great, but as a huge Robbie fan I love watching him, especially when he smiles, just lights up the room, wish there Rick had been more visible as well, he too is such a pleasure to watch, just can't stay still. Love them all.
Wouldn't it be great if they brought out an uncut ,unedited ,just as it happened ,version of the Last Waltz ? It must be possible to do it from the master tapes ! Five hours of musical bliss .
the cameras that were used to record the film need time to cool down, so there is no recording of this quality of the entire concert, but there must be takes and songs that we have not seen
@@justaaccount8738 There is the full concert 5h on youtube! but with poor video/sound ! still better than this shitty edited/cut and re recorded that scorcese did
@@bbanderic I'm a huge Robbie fan. A lot of the negative things about Robbie came from Levon. However, I read Barney Hoskyns biography of The Band, and according to Hoskyns Levon had to insist that Muddy be included. I did hear an interview with Robbie where he explained the mix up. It certainly not because Robbie didn't like Muddy, it was more a time constraint. Whatever the case, does not diminish my admiration for Robbie. None of them were perfect, but they were all great and talented beyond belief.
@@rippi37 Robbie good looking, sexy, intelligent, talented beyond belief, and charisma. Not taking anything away from the other Band members, or Muddy, but Robbie was in a class by himself.
@@rippi37 Sounds you like me is a huge Robbie fan! Have you read his book "Testimony", it is fascinating. His life was not always easy, especially his childhood, grew up with a physically abusive stepdad, his real father died before Robbie was born. If like me, you can't get enough of looking at him, he was in movie "Carny" with Gary Busey and Jodie Foster, it is available for free here on Utube, he never looked better.

Not always an easy one, he grew up with a physically abusive stepfather, his real father (who was Jewish and Robbie's mother was Mohawk) died before Robbie was born.
Supposedly Levon insisted on Muddy Waters be included, although I'm a huge Robbie fan not his finest hour. Not sure why Robbie was hestitant to have Muddy Waters there, from this video it is obvious he was totally onboard with the music. I also know from reading Robbie's book that he was a huge blues fan. In any case Muddy was in the Last Waltz and everyone including Robbie loved it.
Butterfied's harmonic give the true tone to the Blues of the great Muddy Waters 🎸🎸🎹🥁

That voice. Recognized within a second.
My introduction to The Blues. My enjoyment and appreciation of music grew by leaps and bounds after that.
The Uncle we all wished to have had
Butterfield's harp gives this some major intensity...
One of my favorite performances.

This track is live as it happened
this must be DONE
This is 14 karat gold!
Quite possibly the damn finest musician to ever grace the face of this Earth.
They all could play any instrument and could sing. Well maybe except garf. But he was a master.
LEGEND
According to some sources Robbie didn't want Muddy Waters there, but he certainly looks like he is enjoying this 100 percent and then some.
I don’t believe that at all

If you are female and watching this how can you not fall in love with Robbie?
You would have to be in a coma....what a man !!!

What song when black men where called boy
What are they called today😂?
Actually a song mocking Bo Diddley's I'm a Man. Muddy is the (electric) blues man to me
Let down badly by the band
What is that supposed to mean???
The only letdown is your mama when she seen how you turned out
