I remember when the stones met Muddy for the first time and asked for his autograph, Mick said "Mr Waters..." and Muddy was shocked and was like how in the hell in the peak of sagregation and rasicm could these white boys be talking to me so respectfully and looking up to me? that was a legendary moment.

I would hope so as they named their band after his song and got international fame off his music and Cadillac records blacks artists catalogs but unlike other artists at least they paid respect and homage.

I was on a business trip staying at the Hilton & Towers and I went out the back walked down this block and there was the Checkerboard/Buddy Guys - chill little spot. Chicago still has some funky grit left - In NY its GONE - sadly we get the jerks from the Midwest & hipsters - Manhattan since the 90s has been untouchable to live - now the outer boroughs are very expensive.

When this night happened there was a $20 cover, but they let me in. I had become a regular. I got to sing with Phil Guy, Buddy's brother! The doorman would walk me to the bus holding a straight razor until I got on the bus! Crazy college days....
