It really is best to have the pro tools- a hand stapler is hard and scissors are vs your electric saw blade to cut foam fabric etc. I like to draw a line where the center staple is to align the fabric evenly all the way across top and sides.the line guides me as Im a beginner. great tutorials.
Thank you! Had to watch that pleat maneuver a couple times but I think all 4 chair cushions are finished correctly! Thank you for sharing your skills! I’m in Maryland USA
This is what I love to hear - so glad you found the video helpful with your project! Thank you for sharing and thank you for watching 😊 best wishes to Maryland.
You're awesome! What a great help!!!! I have never reupholstered a chair seat in all my years of DIY-ing stuff! Granted, it's trial and error.....as I don't have all the fancy tools😄 but I now need an air compressed staple gun! Thank you for these videos!🤗
Ahh that’s really kind, thank you! I’m glad you found it helpful 😊🙏🏻 you don’t have to have all the fancy tools for something like a seat pad but a staple gun and and air compressor will make your life so much easier and will save your hands too!
I've just discovered this channel and have binge watched most (if not all) of your videos. Thank you so much for sharing. Your videos are clear, uncomplicated and highly instructive. I'm very, very, very...new (but equally eager) to reupholstering. My question is; I have dinning chairs with high backs and seats just like the ones in this video. However I'd really like to turn them into Parsons chairs. Bearing in mind I've never done this before, how would I go about converting them? Or should I just take the easy route and make slip covers for them? I'd be grateful for your opinion and instructions or better still do a video on each 😄.
Hello and thank you for all your videos, I've been following you for a couple of years now. I have some G Plan style mid century dining chairs. They have a solid seat base, then what might be called coconut matting and then thin layer of foam covered in oil cloth. Which of your videos would be best to follow to make a more comfy seat without losing the style please? Thank you 😊
Hello! New subscriber here, my husband just sent me a photo of a dining set he just bought for a hundred dollars 😅 it needs TLC, which is what led me to your vinyl reupholstery video, which led me here. I've been seeing for almost 20 years, but have never tried my hand at upholstery. This may be a silly question, but could I use a regular cotton fabric for reupholstery? Then cover in a clear vinyl? Or do I need to use upholstery fabric? I need them to be wipeable. I have 4 littles 😅 any advice would be so appreciated
Hi Nicole, many thanks for subscribing. Depends if it's an upholstery fabric as curtain material will be too thin. If you go into a fabric shop and ask them to show you the difference I think you will understand. Lots of upholstery fabrics are wipe able nowadays so you should be able to find something suitable. Hope this helps 🙏📐📌🪡🧵✂️
You can try, but I only hear bad things about them, especially if you are going into hard wood. You could just use upholstery tacks. Hope this helps 👍🪡📐✂️🧵📌
Hi Barbara, I would use 6oz dacron or lightest 4oz. Make sure you bring it all the way over so the fabric doesn't hit bare wood. Hope all goes well! ⛏️🧵📎📐✂️👌
Yeah, you’re right. It CAN be a problem if they snag some fabrics where you’re working, or you poke your fingers. A small hammer is always my best friend for things like that - and smacking staples . I have an electric gun, and that’s the problem there😁.
staple remover or flathead screwdriver pincers or pliers the former dig into the staple and lift it up a bit or entirely out of the wood (a mallet helps to bang it underneath the staple) pincers finish the job and can sometimes lift fabric and staples together entirely (with the corners/pleats especially) be safe and keep your free hand out of trajectory of the tool be careful not to damage the wood and foam
I have my fabric and my roll of that wadding stuff but wondered where I can get the black colour bottoming as my old chairs I've bought didn't have any
Hi Bev! You can get bottoming fabric/ cloth from any upholstery suppliers. Although it could be called something different depending where you’re from.
How to mark diamond tufting on round sofa or half moon sofas ? I can't find any information anywhere, island I've marked the a million times but the seems weird ...
Hi! I would draw out your diamond lines (just the horizontal lines) on the fabric and free-hand the diamonds on the fabric once you’ve measured and drilled your holes in the foam. But make sure you follow those horizontal diamond lines to make sure your fabric doesn’t twist. Hope this makes sense.
Hi Jacqueline, sorry for the delayed reply. Have a look at my video going through the different foam grades and where I like to use them - the video is in this link ua-cam.com/video/jbfhtRP3gIQ/v-deo.html I like to use blue foam for seating (bench seating, dining seating) and it’s slightly firmer and more durable.
Hi Guys!! Come and follow me over on Instagram too 🙂👍 instagram.com/faceliftinteriors

Totally agree, you can't get the job done right with bad tools. 👏

NICE! Glad to see you using the Imperial system for measuring!
Cheers Darren! Yea I think most upholsterers (that I know anyway!) use inches to measure.

Hi Kate, hmmm tough to say without seeing the chair. Drop me a dm and I'll try to advise. 🙏⛏️✂️🧵☺️
@@faceliftinteriors I'm so sorry, I didn't realise you'd replied. I'll DM you with some photos, thank you 🙂
Love this tutorial. Whats the white fabric called that covers the dracon? Thank you
This! This is what I've been looking for!
Glad you found it helpful 😊👍🏻
Thanks for your videos,, they are so helpful! Are electric staplers safe to use? The pneumatic ones are pretty expensive for just one project.
I only hear bad things about those!!!! Sorry for the late reply! Hope all worked our for you! 👍😊⛏️🧵📐✂️
Thank you Neil. Excellent video xx
Thanks Janet 🤗 x
You do Excellent work, I sure hope my project come out as good as yours. Great video thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much Wanda! Good luck with your project and thank you for watching 😊

Thank you so much 😆👍🏻
Great tutorial 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you so much! 😊🙏🏻
its a nice , thabkyou all your videos lot of things that I learned
Hi there! Thank you for watching and glad you found it helpful 😊👍🏻
Can I use a manual, hand powered staple gun? Do I really need to buy a pneumatic or electric staple gun for one job?
You can try, but I only hear bad things about them, especially if you are going into hard wood. You could just use upholstery tacks. Hope this helps 👍🪡📐✂️🧵📌
just what I was looking for
Happy to help Jake 👍🏻
Hi. What thickness (weight) dacron do I need for a project like this please, it does not have to sit inside a frame. Thanks
Hi Barbara, I would use 6oz dacron or lightest 4oz.
Make sure you bring it all the way over so the fabric doesn't hit bare wood. Hope all goes well! ⛏️🧵📎📐✂️👌
@@faceliftinteriors Thank you so much.
Cool!! How would you proceed if the bottom of the chair isn't in wood?
Hi there! What are they made out of?
Did you put some type of interfacing on the fabric?
No just dacron, it gives extra padding! ✂️⛏️🧵📎
What do you use for the backing . The black material .
Hi Loraine! Sorry for the delayed response. It’s called ‘bottoming’ fabric or cloth here in the UK. Hope that helps 👍🏻
Another video suggested landscape fabric
SIR WHICH PLACE IN UK. SOMEONE WANTS TO LEARN.
how about a video on how to do it with leather?
Doesn't using a multi tool leave the legs of the staples in the seat base? I can be slightly OCD about things like that 🙄
It does indeed, but know one will ever know! Except you 😁📌📐✂️🧵👍

Can we bring to your store and do it at the same leather fabric
Great job
Thank you Janine! Thanks for watching 😊
WHAT WAY DO YOU PULL THE STRECH ???
Do I really need to remove the old fabric? The old fabric is tight and in good condition. Can I just put the new fabric over the old fabric?
Hmmm I have seen people do it before but I wouldn't recommend! 👍🪡✂️🧵📌
how to disassemble old fabric? I hope you have tutorial too.
staple remover or flathead screwdriver
pincers or pliers
the former dig into the staple and lift it up a bit or entirely out of the wood (a mallet helps to bang it underneath the staple)
pincers finish the job and can sometimes lift fabric and staples together entirely (with the corners/pleats especially)
be safe and keep your free hand out of trajectory of the tool
be careful not to damage the wood and foam

What is the gun name, you used?
It's a BEA 71 series. The cheaper option would be Tacwise. Hope this helps 🙏
Thank you for that it will help 👍

Hi, is there any difrent in the foam biside the age?
Why do you just a blue one? Why not an other yellow one?

how do I wrap a booth seat without beading
His Chris! Do you have Instagram? If so, send me a picture of what you’re working on over there and I’ll help out as much as I can 😊👍🏻
What’s the blue fabric called
Hi there! It’s by J Brown Fabrics called ‘Modena - Blueberry’ 😊👍🏻
👍
😊👍🏻
In "fabic" on your header....
Good spot! Thank you Deb 😊🙏🏻
