Artisan Upholstery Studio oh darn, I was hoping you’d have some great online resource. I’m in rural BC and having trouble finding supplies. Thanks though!
“Tuck it under your arm” and “you want to pull it with your whole hand” are professional tips I have not seen anywhere else. Excellent video! My only suggestion is to eliminate the background music. Your instructions are all we need to hear.
Thank you so much. I found this after watching many videos on how to re cover dining chairs. This technique finally helped me get nice sleek sides and perfect corners. One seat down, five more to go!
Thanks for a great tutorial!!! I finally took the plunge and reupholstered our 6 dining chairs after watching your very clear explanation 5 or 6 times. I’m even happy with the corners!
Very clear instructions. Currently reupholstering dining chairs for first time. Watched your video 3 times to follow your lovely neat corners. Thank you.
I'm getting ready to reupholster our five side chair and one armed chair antique dinning set. I greatly appreciate the detail and clear instruction of your videos and would love to see that supplies video you mentioned.
Hands down one of the best tutorials / how-to's on UA-cam for this. There are any number of techniques for turning down your corners when stapling and this method seems to yield the least amount of visible wrinkles/folds for most fabrics. It may not work well for thicker vinyls though. Simple, concise and clear.
Thank you so very much for a fabulous tutorial. I have never seen corners done the way you do them. Your method is far superior to anything I have ever done & I will be using your method on my upcoming dining room chair upholstery project.
I started to reupholster my bar seats. I did one on my own... It was pretty ugly and full of staples. Ive watched a few different videos and your video is by far the best. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this tutorial, very, very helpful. I did my mom dining chairs and it look like I just bought them out the store. Now I think I'm an expert!
I agree with John C. wholeheartedly. I’ve been watching and watching videos on this subject and this it THE one. If you could see the way the last guy did the corners, you would have nightmares! Yikes. What I need now is a step-by-step video by you on how to purchase, set-up and use an pneumatic staple gun. Thanks a bunch.
Best instruction on how to reupholster slip seats! I've watched about 10, looking for the best method, and this is the one! Applied Amy's teachings and got GREAT results. Thanks for a great video.
This is my second video on it, and I am liking it. Thx for the advice. I won't look any further. I did this years ago, before the internet with no instructions and am surprised that I was right on the money. :)
Thank you Amy for your step by step instructions on how to reupholster chair pads. I am not very handy and had to rewind several times, however with your help I was able to cover 5 high top bar chairs and they look amazing!!!
You are a great teacher! I watched another video on UA-cam with the same Technic. But you' re saying less were able to make it clear, easy to follow and less scary ) Teaching is definitely a talent. Thank you!
Thank you for your videos. I'm a boot and Saddle maker living in Sailboat country. Doing more Upholstery work. Your videos helped me tremendously. Wish you were closer to take some clases ( I'm in Northern Wisconsin on Superior).
Hi! I thank you for this video, especially, as it gave me the confidence to re-cover my own dining chairs. I bought the tools you suggested and am so pleased with how well they worked. My chair seats came out beautiful!! I was fearful of beginning but when I tucked the first one up into my armpit I knew just what to do. So grateful!
Amy, I have to say, your videos are fantastic. I’ve learned a lot from you. I just retired from driving trucks after 36 years, and have gone to work for a upholstery shop, and between then and your videos, I’m really learning a lot and loving my new profession. Thank you.
Hi Amy how do you reupholster rolled arms on a chair or sofa that have front insert panels?? Love your tutorials. Glad I found you finally. You totally inspire me to learn more. Keep them going please.
Thank you Amy! I am doing some Heywood Wakefield chairs and people kept trying to sell me 2" foam. I knew it wouldn't look right and found your video confirming the 1". Thank you for clear directions too!
I’m now using 1 1/2” on mid century chairs, as it bottoms out a bit less. If you pull really tight (as it should be done) the profile will still be really sleek.
Hint: If you don't want your cats to scratch your seats up, choose a velvet or ultra suede fabric. Cats like a fabric they can get their claws into and if it's smooth they don't like it. Learned this the hard way.
Wish there was an upholstery school near me. I’d very much love to do it as a job, perhaps videos and practice could earn me the confidence to charge money Great video!!
Thank you for your video. It has given us the confidence to attempt to cover our chairs. We will post pictures of the finished project. Greetings from, Wangaratta Australia
Thanks Amy for your great videos. I learned a lot by following your tutorials and was able to repair my chairs myself in this quarantine. A big greeting from Argentina.
Thank you for a great tutorial. This is the best video I have found. Could you maybe do one for chair covers where you don’t use staples? I’m thinking I will probably need to wash my chair covers once in a while, as they will be used in the kitchen. It will be a big job to remove all the staples every time. I’m thinking elastic or Velcro, but I can’t find any tutorials. I know stapling is the best way to tighten the fabric, but I’m hoping to find another way. Thank you
Hey Aimee! I just found your channel and have watched several of your videos now 😊 i decided to watch them all in order now... You are so helpful with your tips, and are a great teacher! See you in the other videos 👍
I have been looking for a video that explains how to redo my dinning room chairs. This one is excellent, every detail covered and perfect! The corners are the key and girl you nailed it. If I could only get that tuck under the arm process down I would be a pro. Thank you for your expertise and for sharing!
Thanks for the Vidz. You’re a great Teacher. Just done 6 dining room chairs in vinyl. (First 2 turned out alittle ruff) but then i found ur Vid on Vinyl, the Hairdryer technique saved my embarrassment. 👍🏾
Hi Amy, I’m getting ready to upholster some classic Duncan Phyfe style chair seats and was wondering if I can use a Dacron poly wrap over the foam base. I’m wanting a bit more cushion. I love your content. Your direction is very clear and concise. Thank you!
Great! I did the first (of four) seats, and it worked well, whenever I need a lot of muscles to do that job. The corner advices are very helpful. Thank you!
Nicely done! I would offer that you be aware when shooting anything, including a staple, at your body. If you miss or the staple goes through, you’ll injure yourself.
You did a wonderful job. You made it look easy. How talented you are. Now I have a problem maybe you can help me with a new video! I have oak kitchen chairs that are just plain wood. They have never had cushions and I'm not sure how to proceed. Do I have to remove the legs?
Thank you. Like others l have watched seversl video but wasted some caluable time. Yours is easy to follow with excellent results. Now my turn to put what l have learned to work! Thanks again.
I tried covering my first chair without watching too many videos and it came out understandably horrible lol. This video makes so much sense though and will help immensely
Links to all the tools can be found in the description!😀
Artisan Upholstery Studio Are you in Canada? If so, where do you source your foam and padding etc? Looking for wholesale if you have any tips 😊
I’m in Nova Scotia and I shop locally for my supplies.

So grateful I found you! I was ready to pay someone to finish the corners for me. Thank you for such an easy solution.

Great tutorial your the first person I found that explains how to do the corners properly, thank you 🖒
This video with the upholstered is the best of all

Dude, you rock! I upholstered for many years and I used all the same techniques including the seat under the arm trick!
I learned a lot from this video. I have been doing my chair seats all wrong. I'm glad I found you, thanks so much
Thank you Amy for your step by step instructions on how to reupholster chair pads. I am not very handy and had to rewind several times, however with your help I was able to cover 5 high top bar chairs and they look amazing!!!

Brilliant! We always use this tutorial when recovering our chairs! Best on UA-cam! Thank you.
Excellent! I have a new dining seat video up with no music if you get sick of listening to it 😉
Artisan Upholstery Studio Thank you. The music is fine. Today we reupholstered our son’s piano stool with your help! 🇬🇧
Thank you for letting me know. 😊 The only negative comments I get are about the music, lol! I’m glad it helps you
You make fantastic tutorials! I can’t believe you don’t have more subscribers! I am really grateful for your vinyl tutorials!
Thank you!
Really easy to follow directions. This video saved me a lot of steps; I was going to make it harder than it needs to be. Thanks!

A staple won’t kill you…and if you’re afraid of a little blood, you’re definitely not cut out for upholstery. 😂
not sure I'd use the same 60's art deco pattern, but my chairs will look great thanks to you. thanks Amy. :)
Perfect presentation...thank you for being here to show and share your awesome skills, and techniques.
Wow you have a killer smile! How do your remove some seats that remain after the 4 screws are removed?
What a lovely talented lady.
Thanks Aimee..this is exactly what I needed for an upcoming project!👍

Fantastic and informative video! You go 'above and beyond' what other tutorials try to explain and show to their audience. Well done!
Great tutorial, feels much more secure now of doing this job myself. Now time to shop some fabric for my diningroom chairs.
Thanks!
How do you get them off the chair? Mine don't appear to have screws.
Thank you for your tutorial video. I’m planning on my first upholstery project. Do you have any recommendations for a pneumatic staple gun?
