Thank you! your video showed exactly what I needed to know for my project, I've toyed around with auto upholstery for years but now I know how to do it the right way!
This is just what I needed, just about to start reupholstering 6 dining chairs for my parents and this is perfect. Thank you for taking the time to share this. It is much appreciated. 👍🏼❤️❤️❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hi! Thanks alot for the tutorial. My goodness it took forever to find the appropriate one. Yr's is the best one by far. No one gives the measurements I needed, "a half inch to here, fold here, etc." Perfect example of how to do a PROPER job. I feel much better that I won't mess up. Thx so much. And have a great day.
Finally found this video that shows me how to do the folds around a square corner without stitching. My project has foam on the top of the stools but I'm pretty sure your technique will work perfectly. Thank you very much.
I wish I saw this last year when I reupholstered our RV sofa-bed this is great... I have a small project I can use this newly learned skill with 😃thank you
Amazing! Unfortunately, found this after I completely ****ed up a stool I reupholstered, but it's *definitely* going into my mental toolkit for next time! Thank you for such an informative and easy to follow video!
This was so helpful. What if I want to have a finished looking underside? I need to cover a board (both sides) with marine vinyl and want a professional look.
That sounds like a really cool job! I hope you get the opportunity to work with speaker grille frames and cloth mesh covers. It's always great to do what you love.
@@SailriteDIY Yeah, you guys could easily do it too, including the retro-look leather/vinyl amplifier and cabinet recovering for which Fender is most notable. Or even your own choice of recovering on newer amps made by whatever company. Yes, it would be a cool job I'd like to have.
How thick should my plywood be for a base on a bench cushion, the cushion will not be load bearing as it will be placed on the bench. The plywood is just to hold the foam with a vinyl cover, I can go 1/8 or 1/4
@@SailriteDIY thank you for the response, yes, after looking at the 1/4 at the big box store, that’s what I went with. After cutting down to size, it’s thin enough and very sturdy!
@@SailriteDIY Ty ,I did it yesterday, looks good except I got a couple wrinkles should have tried harder to pull them out, like the other wrinkles I pulled out,but that contact cement grabs hard!!
I would pick the Sailrite Fabricator Sewing Machine. It is a compound walking foot sewing machine, needle moves with the center foot for optimal feeding. If you are using a vinyl seating fabric you can use "S-18 all purpose adhesive" or contact cement instead. Watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/b5PgKSm6AT0/v-deo.html
I can confirm this is super simple when I worked for a upholstery I had to do 900 little puff things and I had to do that 3600 times 2 for each corner I could do that no looking by the end of it and I’m not a upholsterer
This makes sense, but I apparently chose poorly with my fabric. It’s a faux leather and it’s too stretchy - so by the time I get near the corners the fabric is already bunching up. Can’t figure a way to avoid visible pleats. Live & learn, I guess! If anyone has a clue or suggestion…
This video may help, but you need to test to see if your faux leather fabric can be glued with contact cement, which may require some testing: ua-cam.com/video/b5PgKSm6AT0/v-deo.html

Thanks a million!
I have no upholstery experience but the videos you make give me the confidence to try and reupholster my aft cabin. Thank you!!
Thanks bud, just what I needed to learn w/o a bunch of unnecessary info!👍👍👍
Simple yet satisfying, Mister Grant.
Digging that stapler quite a bit, that's a dandy one.

Now you know where to go for sewing and upholstery tutorial videos. Thanks!!!
Very nice way to do a corner. This will be my first time trying on some new benches. Thanks!!!
Just completed my first rounded corners :) Thank you!
Congratulations on completing your first rounded corners! It's always satisfying to see progress in your skills. Keep up the great work!
Very helpful video! Clear and understandable. Love those sharp scissors too!!!
I wish you had shown this with a cushion .
Thanks, this will look better after I'm finished than it did originally.

Exactly what I needed for my folding poker table, where the rail folds. Thanks so much! Subbed and liked for sure

Thanks man!! This is exactly what I needed!! Love the video! Cheers!!

I'd like to have a job doing this for speaker grille frames on guitar amp and PA cabinets with cloth mesh type grill covers too.

thanks just what I needed !

Do you have a video of what to do when you have piping coming around and under? I still struggle with it.
Thank you so very very helpful.

Life saver, thanks
Happy to help
What if adhesive is the only option? Do you simply adhere the material into itself, or is it a different technique?
Yes, a contact cement can be used as we did in this video: ua-cam.com/video/b5PgKSm6AT0/v-deo.html
Very good, thank you!

I would go with 1/4". 1/8" may warp under the pressure of the vinyl cover.

exactly what i needed.
What if you don't have a stapler, and its going into flimsy fiberglass, I'm going to use contact cement and clamps, will that work??
Yes, depending on the fabric used. Here is a video for that type of installation: ua-cam.com/video/b5PgKSm6AT0/v-deo.html

Which staple gun do u have great video
Thanks for tips. Question, do you think this process for the corner would work for a board with a foam cushion with vinyl over it?
Yes, if the foam is not too thick, 1" or less.
@sailritediy if I'm doing this for boat cushions and I'm using 2in foam with batting, how do I avoid the wrinkles on both 90° and rounded corners?
@@SailriteDIYif foam is 2in and starboard is ¼in, will this work

Very teachable tutorial, luvvv it so much..!! I did my canvas board it came out sloppy & horrible looking.
Do I place the fabric directly over the wood? Or can I put a layer of dacron to give some padding?
Yes, you can add Sew Foam or Dacron Batting then wrap it with fabric for padding.
What kind of staples and staple gun are u using?
Very helpful
Thank you! I'm glad you found it helpful. If you have any other topics you'd like to see covered, let me know!
where can I get a stappling gun like that? Mine is so weak I have to hammer down the rest
You can get it here: www.sailrite.com/Sailrite-Long-Nose-Upholstery-Staple-Gun
How would I do an inside corner?
May I know the stapler gun info? thanks
Yes, here is the link: www.sailrite.com/Sailrite-Long-Nose-Upholstery-Staple-Gun
What do i do if the wood I’m working with is too thin to staple through
If you are using a vinyl seating fabric you can use "S-18 all purpose adhesive" or contact cement instead. Watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/b5PgKSm6AT0/v-deo.html
What model is g t he machine that you use using?
The staple gun is the Sailrite® Long Nose Upholstery Staple Gun found here: www.sailrite.com/Sailrite-Long-Nose-Upholstery-Staple-Gun
Will this technique work with marine vinyl?
Yes, it does.
Es que on peut utiliser des clous à la place des agrafes ???
Thanks for your question! Yes, nails can be an alternative to staples, just make sure they're suitable for the job.
I can confirm this is super simple when I worked for a upholstery I had to do 900 little puff things and I had to do that 3600 times 2 for each corner I could do that no looking by the end of it and I’m not a upholsterer

Yes, you can.
