John Peel sessions were the best way of hearing new bands. Something that he did for his own life and help establish unsigned bands be noticed in their career.
It's amazing how much attention to detail goes into their live performances. I love that they take along all the little intro moments of the songs into their live performances
My fave version of "A Flower Called Nowhere". The Farfisa organ should have made it to the final version... Well done, Ms. Lhote (wherever you are). :)
It's a shame this particular session wasn't included on the ABC Music compilation. Or perhaps we will see another volume that covers the '97 - '09 era? Fingers crossed.
Harry estoy "restaurando" el audio de cada canción para luego compartirlo ya que al parecer no hay una versión oficial. Hay un grupo de fans de la banda en facebook, únete seguro lo voy a publicar ahí.
Chet Atlas I agree with Steve Carter. I've seen them live twice and they were incredible... shook Tim's hand when they were here in New Orleans - one of the best shows I saw in the 90s. I sure do miss them.
Spoken like someone who has never encountered them live. When I saw Stereolab open for Sonic Youth in 2001, they blew their headliners off the stage (and this is coming from a massive SY fan). This recording - which is pretty great, honestly - doesn't capture how all-consuming their live presence is/was. The band's intense, stereophonic performance of "Blue Milk" still remains a flashpoint in my musical life.
This version of Brakhage is insane, I can't stop coming back to it

The Flower Called Nowhere
there is something beautiful about hearing stereolab in a live session with this much noise.
I'm forming a Stereolab cover band here in Vancouver. Need one more female vocals who can also play guitar/synth. Don't live here? Move!!
honestly down
amazing idea, good luck!
So... did this happen?
@@davidowle3772 Alas, the woman who was going to sing lead could not commit. My French friend moved to Montreal so...she was out too.
Wish I could. I’ve done Laeticia Sadier impressions in my car for years lol
omg thank uuu.. i've been looking for The Flower Called Nowhere live version

Wow (and flutter...). 1000 Dank!!!
This was the absolute apex of music that year. 😥

Stereolab is to cassettes as Tangerine Dream is to 8-traks.
First time I've heard this session. Stereolab was no joke!
You are just talking about another level of quality when it comes to Stereolab...

Well this is nothing short of magnificent - thank you for sharing!!
Fantastic! I think I remember listening to this :)
I like how Mary doesn't just play her solo how it is on the album, note for note, but switches it up a little.

what is a 'tape deck' daddy?
Felt like i found the one piece
Brakhage always seems to get a bit out of sync live
they suck live lol I'm still appreciative of this
How can you even partially think this? Cite your sources!

This video can function as a source, right? It obviously proves they were great live!! Maybe the vocals are a bit shaky ...
Are you deaf? This performance was so damn consistent.
