I had the pleasure of seeing them in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They were touring in support of Cobra and Phases Group Play Voltage in the Milky Night. They killed it.
Getting major Julian Cope vibes from the very beginning of the first track - precisely the "Necropolis" and "The Subtle Energies Commission" instrumentals on the Jehovahkill album.
Great shout that. Both influenced by VU. For me the first track has always been a kind of reimagining of the last two songs on White Light White Hear with a lot more Farfisa.
I heard Mars Audiac Quintet playing in a record store in the mid 90's and bought it on the spot. Since then I have slowly explored more of this wonderful group. If you like minimal music, then look out for Young Marble Giants who (sadly) only released a single album. Then I discovered Porcupine Tree... but Stereolab's Three-Dee Melody gets me grooving every time :)
Porcupine Tree is the best thing to happen to rock music in a long time. The Sky Moves Sideways, Signify, Up The Down Stair, In Absentia, Fear Of A Blank Planet and even the new one. Plus their tour last year kicked ass! Finally got to see them.
Porcupine tree eh, that's quite an interesting rock family tree (pardon the pun) what with Japan's Richard Barbieri involved among others. I really like Steven Wilson's production work, esp his remastering of XTC...also his varied collaborations. Ever heard (Japan bassist) Mick Karn's album *'Bestial Cluster'* and *'The Tooth Mother'* (1998) with Wilson and Barbieri involved, also Steve Jansen. Good album that one. Wow this really is a great session from Stereolab. Love it.
Wow, a super-early rendition of Metronomic Underground, well-before the release of Emperor Tomato Ketchup. The song sounds a bit stiff compared to the other live sets of it, then you realize that they had hardly ever played it and probably not studio-recorded it before this.
Dave Pajo played with Stereolab? Not sure how I did not know this. Huge Stereolab fan from back then and love Pajo's work with Papa and Aerial M from shortly after this timeframe.
ah thank you. im embarrassed. i must have listened to thousands of hours of this band when i was younger and now i cant even remember names. thanks for putting this up.
Saw them in Cork in 1992 for £4 IR, the currency doesn't exist anymore but that night changed my life
just saw them last night in toronto - what a fabulous band!! totally killin it! 🎹 🖤 ✨
They are the best! I'll see them twice in their tour in Europe next month
RIP Mary Hansen
Yo estuve allí, con dos personas más. Sensacional.

These grooves saved my life. I can't speak to anything else.

This is just fucking fantastic. Thank you so much.
Love hearing the synthesizers way up front on that last track.
It keeps getting deeper and deeper...
So awesome.....ecstasy....those dull afternoons preparing my Econometry exams
Thanks for uploading, Jordi 👍🏻

Gran documento. Una pena que no se publiquen los archivos inmensos de Radio 3, como se hacía en la BBC con las sesiones de John Peel.
Brilliant end to the set! Thanks so much
I saw them in Central Park 1995/96? good memories ..!!!

Great stuff.
I like Stereolab.
Me encantan los coros🙌🪄🌈

Papa M opened for Stereolab when I saw them at the Bluebird Theater (Denver) in 1999.
Never heard this, some rare stuff they didn’t do live often
Great version of How to play your internal organs overnight
Guapísimo
Dope.
Brilliant
Dang! This is nice, this is what it's all about. So where you been hidin' this stuff? And where can i get some more?
La linea del bajo suena increible, mejor que en los peel sessions
This is exquisite.

just came back to add that a really nice live video performance of JCB is still here: ua-cam.com/video/fHraUBOWe9E/v-deo.html
In beginning Lo boob oscitator, remember french music. 🤔💙

LOS weones pa secos
Mary...
Percolator remember, a little, Progressive "rock" (Pop). 🤔
Joe Dilworth or Andy? I'm thinking Ramsey. Joe rolled more. The bass guitarist and drums aren't connected. I advise you listen to the original.
Andy Ramsay on drums! I personally love his playing (I'm a drummer too).
The sound is very unique. I think that Julian Casablancas of The Strokes, and The Voidz, will like a lot of these creative slow songs. 🤔
Ojorowei
une maquette?
C'est un concert pour une station de radio en Espagne.
only Austin Powers might love this band more than i.
Excellent but influenced by Neu! La Duesseldorf etc but it's only my opinion!
Bruce Springsteen borm to run
Didn't like the singer.
❤
