Mary wasn't in the band yet.. not until 92.
Other vocalist here was Gina Morris.
I remember hearing this live in my Edinburgh student flat. PJ Harvey's first session was around the same time and, for me, those were the most mind-blowingly wonderful Peel sessions ever. I could barely contain myself. I don’t think I could afford socks back then but if I was wearing any they would have been blown clean off!
Always loved this version of 'Super Electric'. Very Neu influenced, almost motorik beat.
Just what I needed on a rainy winter morning! Another great post.
If the Velvet Underground had been on E instead of smack.....

AWESOME
At 4:49 they sound SO much like early 10,000 Maniacs. You can hear the 80s turning into the 90s. Latettia’s intonation was often very unsteady live, but she is dead on here in the middle of a set in one of Tim’s melody lines that demands a maximum of precision. Tim goes 3/4 of the way to becoming sonic youth here on that strumming crescendo, but his superior discipline launches this to NEU! levels.

What a band! I knew they were good but have spent all day listening to their older stuff and my mind is blown. 20 years ahead of their time.
Great band … they can really rock hard when they want … this is the best Peel sessions they did …

Ironically enough I heard of splendora YEARS before i heard of stereolab. I guess it's just because I was (still kinda am) a big Daria fan, and they mention the band In the credits.
