Andy McKee is so talented at multitasking with his hands, most of us didn't even realize he unbuttoned and changed his shirt during the course of this song.
Un-freakin-believable!! 32 years iv played. shred, metal, classical and all between but now i feel i have to go back to writing in crayons. Awesome buddy!! :)
Just when I thought Andy McKee couldn't possibly get any better, I listen to this. It seems to be a more sophisticated "Drifting". I love to see someone with as much skill as him continue to thrive and push his abilities even further.
m8 i am agree he is very good guitar player and he could be pne of the best in all time but do you know paco delucia do you ever see how does he play !?
lol he is great at composing but he really is no where near as proficient as some people in terms of technical skill. Check out Tommy Emmanuel or Estas Tonne
I still remember the first time when I watched this video, sounds so imposible to play, before I thought “drifting” is one of the most difficult song, but “hunter’s moon” - what the hell😂…… love you Andy, thanks for your inspiration:)
This is gonna be the last song I learn by him... and when I do, it'll be when I have enough free time to practice it twice daily for months until it's perfect. Then I'll never stop playing it
@@jackfrost187 The technique of pressing down the strings so as to make it sound for itself without plucking it, is referred to as "hammer-on's". Suffice it to say, Mckee makes ample use of it in his compositions.
Definitely need more musicians that play like this. This is a great technique if you really appreciate music this technique is definitely by far on my top. Unfortunately people who don't appreciate music claim this technique as people that don't know how to play music. This technique is older than anybody reading this. It's not just one style it's many styles all in one not just one Genre but many. Country jazz blues acapella classic rock-idlerock.
it's called years and years and years of practice, plus talent. I imagine he started playing from a young age and simply hasn't stopped. This is what you can achieve if you put your heart and soul into something
The only reason that I'd believe this is one man playing music and not four (a bassist, a percussionist, and two guitarists) without seeing him do it is because you can hear that his music is fueled by the passion of one man's soul.
I love that people are fighting over whether the tuning involves A# or Bb. Same note people. Same not. Found in two different places on the staff, vocalized as exactly the same note. You're ALL right. Yes its Bb but yes its A#. Stop fighting, learn music theory.
Honestly, Hedges would be proud. Thank you for keeping that fire burning. You now carry the torch and keep so many inspired, and for that we say thank you Andy.
First time I saw Andy in the original videos from about 07 I was floored. Still am. Such a huge fan, wish he would play by me when the covid shit ends.
What makes Andy... Andy is that his skill is so unique. Do you realize how hard it is to do what Andy does? He is basically playing like 5 songs and putting them together by ear. He has mastered his harmonics and has great over-the-board playing technique. His slapping just adds yet another compliment to his work of art. What do MOST acoustic guitarists out there do? Play a generic song with just the regular style of playing. What makes Andy great is that he is broad and new... unlike you.
this guy is not human. he is an alien sent to show what multi-tasking is really about. this song almost makes me cry too, god damn this guy is amazing! His harmonic work is epic. i really do not have enough words to give this guy props. Andy your my idol man.
3:40 - 4:02 is also insane, especially the harmonic slap at 3:59 is out of this world. It's literally perfect and it builds up so much. I don't even know if it is intended to be build up that way.
the amazing thing about a musician aint only that he can play the guitar at this level...is that u are 100% certain of his character..he cant be a bad guy...his shelf is dedicated to musci..music is life.music is somethins dispeakable...u love music ...u love the whole world.
If you get the chance to go see him live i highly recommend it. The dude is so humble and awesome. He stays after the show to sign whatever, and then he stays after that to have a drink/chat with whoever is still hanging around.
People, you have GOT to see this live. The video doesn't do it justice. I just saw Andy at the MIM and my jaw was on the floor for almost the entire show.
Andy had played a john petrucci solo called innocence faded.. I too was a fan of both technical electric playing, classical pieces, and acoustics of andy mckee
This is how you truly separate yourself from everybody else as a true artist. Unlike anything else in the best ways! huge fan of Andy's for as long as I can remember. His music does wonders to your brain and state of mind.
I love this guy! Damn if I knew that a guitar could do this with the right player I would not have given up way back as a child! Where were you then Andy and youtube? sob, sob sob....
Wow amazing playing what a talented guy now I want to know more he is amazing I am 50 trying to learn guitar for the first time Wishing hoping I will pick it up.
9 years later... and your music still shakes me.
That's not going to change after a few more
I saw this the first year in here. I come back a few times a year. Still gets me.
The camera man gets some props too for making Andy look more boss than he already was.
his use of harmonics is otherworldly...i just cant comprehend how he plays them so quickly, its just incredible
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Incredible... 2:15 - 2:45 gives me the sharpest chill in my brain ever... he takes you to a whole different world.
If you liked that part then you should REALLY check Eddie Van Der Meer's version of it.
Makes you trip balls...
Really?
Andy McKee is so talented at multitasking with his hands, most of us didn't even realize he unbuttoned and changed his shirt during the course of this song.
Hell hes probably the one doing the camera too lol
The absolute best comment on YT of all time!
deeeead
Yeah hes flying a drone remotely with his big toe on an ipad
This shit made me laugh so damn hard.
Soundboard and he also makes a mean blt at the deli. Legendary stuff
Damn...he's the WHOLE Band!!!
Un-freakin-believable!! 32 years iv played. shred, metal, classical and all between but now i feel i have to go back to writing in crayons. Awesome buddy!! :)
I love the way Andy nods towards each crescendo or more technical part, not reminding himself but making sure the guitar complies with his magic.
Years without listen this music, now I heard it again and make me feel the same way as the first time. Awesome job!!!!
+Nathan Stunning I thought with drugs you can never feel the same as the first time? o_O
same he is a fucking legend
매일 듣고 있어요
Andy, sir.... This is absolutely amazing... I am speechless. You ARE talent!
Just when I thought Andy McKee couldn't possibly get any better, I listen to this. It seems to be a more sophisticated "Drifting". I love to see someone with as much skill as him continue to thrive and push his abilities even further.
the best guitarrist ever this guy here is one the best guitarrists in the world and every single person who have listened to him will be agree with me

Oh yeah hes good, one of the best, there are many great.
of course i know my friend paco de lucia hes great as well
lol he is great at composing but he really is no where near as proficient as some people in terms of technical skill. Check out Tommy Emmanuel or Estas Tonne
NO he isn't
this is my favorite guitar piece by a country mile
defenetly my favorite guitarplayer in the whole world. so damn creative. insane.
I still remember the first time when I watched this video, sounds so imposible to play, before I thought “drifting” is one of the most difficult song, but “hunter’s moon” - what the hell😂…… love you Andy, thanks for your inspiration:)
man, at some point it actually sounds like there 3 guys performing at the same time, truly remarkable.
This is astounding, I cannot even fathom how one uses a guitar like this. One man band anyone?
My favorite of his pieces.
Just a man and his guitar. A love story that needs more views :P
Brilliant work on a beautiful guitar.
i woke this morning with a pounding headache and in a cold sweat. the first thing i did was get on my computer and listen to andy.
This is gonna be the last song I learn by him... and when I do, it'll be when I have enough free time to practice it twice daily for months until it's perfect. Then I'll never stop playing it
Jayh98 hellow
Jayh98 how’s the progress?
did you lean it
The one hand harmonics are quite a challenge.
Andy McKee... The only man that can play guitar standing up. Strapless.
Hammer on. Hammer on everywhere.
and?
Hammer in the mornin' hammer in the evenin' hammer at suppa' time
atrajhdliv Andy can use hammer-ons as much as he wants to as long as it sounds like *that*.
what does hammer on mean? like mc hammer?

Immensely beautiful. I just can't figure out how he makes this stuff up! It's simply amazing.
I have figured it out.
it's called years and years and years of practice, plus talent. I imagine he started playing from a young age and simply hasn't stopped. This is what you can achieve if you put your heart and soul into something
Alex Thorbrand i could have 100 years of practice and never be able to write a song like this. He's an amazing artist

werd
i actually prefer calling it Bb because the key is in G minor so Bb is the minor third and A# is the augmented second which doesn't seem right for me
Lmao. I was bedazzled when I saw that.
lol couldn't have said it better myself
I have not an inkling of what that means. I just listening and not preaching if I don’t know what I’m talking about.
McKee and his guitar are just one! His instrument became an extension of his body! That's how he can do all this insane techniques!
"It's not the beard on the outside the counts, it's the beard on the inside."
Action Hank
Look at his eyes just like a hunter so focused! THe moon must be the guitar because of the beauty.
I have no freaking idea how he plays this standing up.
but still its hard to play it sitting down too....
Lucien Lopez Yea man, even if u want to play drifting also pain in the ass if standing up.
Lucien Lopez when your an alien you can do these sort of things. Hahahahaha
Master of the guitar for sure.
Pure amazingness... not even the best guitarists in the world could pull off something like thing. He is the true guitar god. 8) *orgie*
The heart has no rivals, thought becomes sound
It's nice to finally see someone use this style of playing successfully.
I love it!
Andy's music just gets better and better. Please live to be 100+
heard this on a hatsune miku video. great to see this is how its actually played.
Honestly, Hedges would be proud. Thank you for keeping that fire burning. You now carry the torch and keep so many inspired, and for that we say thank you Andy.
These guys are so inspiring!
YuleGenesis what guys?
How long those harmonics last :'(
Oh lord what awe inspiring creations are yet to see the light in this World if this is allowed.
"Andy McKee" is Irish for "I'M A BEAST!!"
The music that Andy Mckee plays is no doubt some of the most beautiful songs that I have ever listened to. Pure genius.
Holy shit...
First time I saw Andy in the original videos from about 07 I was floored. Still am. Such a huge fan, wish he would play by me when the covid shit ends.
C G D F A# D Tesseract
Thank you so much😂
Seriously...just bow down, acoustic guitar playing doesn't get anymore amazing than this

This is not a Ghost song, go back and search again.
talk about havin it all. I wish i had a sixteenth of Andy's talent and genius
Kvothe when he grows up...
Kvothe who? From the Name of the Wind?
Ha ha, yah, cause he's a master of the lute and whatnot.
He uh, died his hair brown too.
Haha! True that :D
I am actually reading the book atm.
Fantastic stuff. I discovered this song on Friday and have listened to it about 25 times so far this weekend. Another awesome song from Andy McKee
ahh, your reason to quit guitar......should be a song title lol
this guy is not human. he is an alien sent to show what multi-tasking is really about. this song almost makes me cry too, god damn this guy is amazing! His harmonic work is epic. i really do not have enough words to give this guy props. Andy your my idol man.

This is something that Antoine should play.
It really sounds like his style too, if you don't look at the video. Amazing work.
he's able to play any tune that has ever been in his head. i give up

I just get lost in his songs as if I was taken to another world!! God truly blessed this dude C=
One word... Actually its beyond comprehension, just pure beauty.
Great ! One of the hardest song by Andy !
Andy had played a john petrucci solo called innocence faded.. I too was a fan of both technical electric playing, classical pieces, and acoustics of andy mckee
a credit to the music industry as always mind blowing and emotion stirring.
Probably the coolest thing I've seen this year....
....and I thought Pilky27 was amazing!😛
the harmonics in this song are amazing.
I'll never forget seeing this live
More important than hability is harmony, and he has harmony!
This is how you truly separate yourself from everybody else as a true artist. Unlike anything else in the best ways!
huge fan of Andy's for as long as I can remember. His music does wonders to your brain and state of mind.
He plays harmonics so easily... AND ON AN ACCOUSTIC! bloomin 'ec!
This man is a machine. So impressive!
I love Andy McKee, he makes any day relaxed :)
Couldn't agree more I saw him a month or two ago, being a guitarist it was quite a humbling experience.
A boy in my school played this in the exact same way. It was brilliant!!!
I was on the Concert yesterday in Vienna "Guitar Masters" .... it was awesome!
I get a Picture with Andy, he is a great Guy!
Every one of his video should have 'Betcha Can't Play This' in the title.
drums, bass, melody .. all in 1.. beyong amazing.. andy is a god!
this music should be 100M views
I love that Andy can play music that is soft yet incredibly powerful at the same time. A truly ingenious artist.
ahh those harmonics come out so clean, like butter.
Why the percussions and the melody give me chills?
I am not having words its just unbelievable
My favorite fingerstyle guitarman thats for sure.....
This man is the king of all things instrumental. KING I SAY!
I love the dramatic camera angles!
This needs way more love than its getting.
the effects on that guitar are sick!
I believe the slight tilt on the frets, nut, and bridge gives it true intonation. Very awesome indeed.
It’s actually for string tension with dropped tunings. He can tune the 6th string down to a B and still have a solid note
Only one thing comes to mind when I see/hear this tune:
Andy Mckee = badass.
This is the greatest guitar player I think I've ever seen
The traditional way to play the guitar is using just the strings...
This guy turns the whole thing into an amazing instrument... Just wow.
man his music is flawless i wish i could meet him in person
Oooh! The climax was unexpected and awesome!
