I arrived in Haridwar in the evening like you did and it was my FIRST SOLO TRIP in India and the beginning of a life-changing adventures. The next day when I saw the Ganga river I was simply a-m-a-z-e-d, then I caught a vikram (20rupees) to Rishikesh where the whole course of my journey in India changed as after that I quit my scholarship in Delhi to travel for the remaining 6 months... :))) River views in Rishikesh are stunning

at1304 the scene of the river, you cannot guess looking at a video how the vibrations and feeling there are like. The closest i can say is that you get a sense of awe you get a sense of the timelessness of the river as if the waters have flowed into present times from thousands of years ago.

Go to the lakshaman jhula at about 1 am in the morning. Stand there in the middle of the bridge for half an hour. Trust me you won't be disappointed.
    P. S: have some cheap bread worth 10 rupees and feed it to the dogs when they bark. They will become friendly again.

The plethora of knowledge you possess about India can put even many Indians to shame, including me, I last visited this place in 1996, its the same, the way of storytelling is something very distinct which I believe makes one addictive to your videos, have a grt time in Himalayas !

Just a small advice regarding bus travel in India. Wherever possible, prefer a Government owned bus over a private one. They are more reliable, punctual and cost-effective. I guess you travelled in Haryana State Roadways and Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corp (UPSRTC) buses in this one, both government owned. Keep up the good work :)

If you have time you can trek to the Gangotri glacier which is the source of the Ganges. The Gomuk - Tapovan trek has incredible views of the Gangotri group peaks including Mount Meru. Meru Central was first climbed by a team headed by acclaimed mountaineer Conrad Anker (The documentary is "Meru" which is incredible)

Most of us Indians also prefer to travel through Buses, Best choice to travel around from one place to another are Luxury Buses which are pretty comfy. Trains are just messy, delayed and too much of an inconvenience.
My personal reason though to travel in Bus is to experience the country side and nice breeze during long Journeys during the night when you travel. Not to mention you have a lot more privacy compared to noisy trains.

Donald Kline You have pretty sharp observation man .He was a cop and perhaps he might have tried to stop them. For routine checking cum greasing palms .Since the rider was not wearing helmet he was either supposed to pay fine or bribe the cop .He took the last option and ran away often happening on Indian streets.Because our cops are no less than demons.

Rs 350 was a lot. The cheapest train fare is Rs 190 from Delhi to Rishikesh. i think the UP transport buses would have been cheaper. Its almost a rupee for a km...a little less infact..so should have been Rs 225, but Im not sure.
Also, not sure how you got charged Rs. 39 for 20 kms?
Dehradun airport to rishikesh is also 20 kms and the bus fare is rs. 21...and that 21 rs. is in 2020

I wad a kid when I had gone there with parents. I remember visiting Laxman Jhula, MansaDevi Temple, Chandi Devi Temple. Exhilarating experience.
Edit: Bro, could you please give e the name of the hotel you showed in the last part of the video and if possible, suggest what to ask to the reception for that river facing room?
