    Glad you got to visit Vrindavana! Too bad you didn't have someone who could show you the sacred sites! It's much more meaningful to know the holy places where Lord Krishna had His pastimes. The old lady who passed you said, "Radhe Radhe" that is the typical greeting in Vrindavan, it is the name of Srimati Radharani the consort of Lord Krishna. She is considered the Queen of Vrindavan, and it is a beautiful way the Vrajavasis honor Her. Also the Hare Krishna movement is not new, it is Lord Chaitanya's movement that was started in the 1400's. But yes, in it's ISKCON form it was incorporated as an official organization in 1966.

    Gabriel, I am glad you visited Vrindavana, which I have visited so many times since my first trip in 1987. But with a little more research and preparation before going there, you could have shown so many more interesting places, temples and culture, besides just walking down the lanes of the town. Even though that can also be fun, which I also like doing, there are some very important temples that you missed, which could have been included if you knew about them. I have also made many videos about India, but when I travel there, I always do my research for every place I go. And I've been to Vrindavana so often that I have hundreds of photos of the more important temples that many pilgrims, at least the Krishna bhaktas, spend their lives planning to visit for their significance. Some of them I have put into video format on youtube. Nonetheless, it was still fun to see a newcomer like yourself visit Vrindavana and see the impressions that it made on you. Jai Sri Krishna.

      Krishna is mysterious. Sadhus explain Krishna was born in two places simultaneously. In Mathura as Devaki-Krishna and at the same time in Vrindavan as Yasodas son. When Vasudeva brought Devaki-Krishna to Vrindavan He merged with Yasoda_Krishna. In that way it is correct to say Vrindavan is Krishnas birthplace...

    Hare Krishna devotees follow and read Bhagavad Gita book which contains the teachings of Krishna to Arjuna about 5000 years ago before the battle of Mahabharat which did happen about 5000 years ago in India.Before the battle of Mahabharat, Krishna was a chariot rider for Arjuna(mortal human being).Krishna himself was mortal human being but an avatar of god.When the battle was about to begin Arjuna was in despair and dilemma that he had to fight/kill his former master and his cousins who were his enemies.He was not sure whether to fight the war or not.At that point Krishna had conversation to Arjuna , giving him advice on principles of life,how to become good person and so on(it was a lenghty conversation ) which is written in Bhagavad Gita.Hare Krishna devotees follows these principles and guidelines given by Krishna to Arjuna.The war commences and at the end of the war Krishna dies too.
    Prabhupada the founder of Hare Krishna(ISCKON) went to American in 1965 to popularise these teachings of Krishna to west and how to be happy by chanting Hare krishna and the rest is history.

      @David Gurung @Gabriel Traveler Actually BhagwatGita and Ramayana come under category of Itihassa or loosely termed as Historical spiritual texts. Since both of these texts are understandable and are in lucid language, these are popular among conman masses and usually you will find these a copy in a Hindu Home. The actual spirttual text is really vast and may take even more than a lifetime to read . Here is the small view : factmuseum.com/hindu-religious-and-spiritual-texts/ so you can see lot of readings in Hinduism .Basically, it is evolved thousands of years and so huge cornucopia & collection of philosophies and spiritual stuff.

      Yes, you are correct. Barsana and Gokul are beautiful. The Braj or Bruj circuit is one of the most interesting areas in the world that gets very, very few foreign visitors. Its a route that has capitvated historians, scholars, and bhaktis for centuries and remains one of the great mysterious secrets that exists on our fine and endangered planet. Radhe Radhe!

    • @wdp4wdm3a
      @wdp4wdm3a 6 років тому +1

      elrito1 I am from the same state of Uttar Pradesh, from the eastern city of gorakhpur near the Himalayas. Visited the braj circuit in the monsoon season about 6 years ago and it was the best trip ever. Like you said, Barely visited by tourists and travellers alike but the braj region along with the avadh region and the area around varanasi is the soul of this particular state. The best streetfood and the countryside is just the best. It is here that the bhakti movement started around 1500. While the cities in this region have been continuously inhabited since 1000 BC. You won't find old temples in north india but will find ancient viharas and stupas because northern india was buddhist for about 1000 odd years.

    • @globalisite
      @globalisite 6 років тому +2

      Thanks for your kind response. Uttar Pradesh could be considered the soul of India and these places that you mention would be the heart of that soul. Also, Chitrakoot is along a similar vein. There is something out of time and place with these regions and I find that words will probably fail my attempts to describe my experiences in these areas and India in general. I will say that my life as been forever touched by the kindness, generosity and brilliant insights from so many Indians that I have met in my travels. Wishing you and your family peace and goodness.

    • @wdp4wdm3a
      @wdp4wdm3a 6 років тому +1

      elrito1 I am so happy that you had such positive experiences here in india and were able to see what india truly is. I wish you were able to visit this area in 400 ad or something when there was no filth on the streets and the rivers were clean. The forests were full of life and when two great ideas (buddhism and hinduism) coexisted and flourished. Society was a lot more liberal, nudity accepted and beef easily consumed. Perhaps we both weren't able to see india at her zenith but believe me this particular area has inspired the world in many ways and while it may appear filthy now, that won't take away the history and glory of this beautiful land.

      Correct. Krishna spent her childhood and youthe here with Radha. She was his beloved Gopi. Radha;s unconditional love for Krishna and vice versa earn place in all temples. So Radha spirtually defines unconditional lvoe and thats why Radhe Radhe greeting means greeting and showing spreading unconditional love for Krishna as a devotee.Beautiful comparaion as per wikipedia The Radha-Krishna and Sita-Rama pairs represent two different personality sets, two perspectives on dharma and lifestyles, both cherished in the way of life called Hinduism. Sita is traditionally wedded, dedicated, and virtuous wife of Rama, an introspective temperate paragon of a serious, virtuous man. Radha is sensuous unmarried clandestine lover of Krishna, an extrovert polyamorous playful adventurer.Radha and Sita offer two competing templates within the Hindu tradition. If "Sita is a queen, aware of her social responsibilities", states Pauwels, then "Radha is exclusively focused on her romantic relationship with her lover", giving two contrasting role models from two ends of the moral universe. Yet they share common elements as well. Both love their man and their lives, both face life challenges, both are committed to their true love and both have been influential, adored and beloved goddesses in the Hindu culture . en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radha

    Hare krsna movement started officinally with Lord Chaitanya in 1500's in Jaggunath Puri, but actually this movement started LONG ago with Sukdev Goswami and only the Maha Mantra became the essence of this movement with Lord Chaitanya's appearance and deliverance of the whole world if one simply chants the holy name of god (Harinam) and performs sankirtan (congregational chanting/singing) for liberation from the four-fold miseries of material life_ birth, old age, disease, and death... repeatedly.

    Prabhupada bought Gaudiya Vaishnavism to the west. Gaudiya Vaishnavism was started by Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu 500 years ago. His disciples uncovered Vrindavan on Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's order. Before those disciples, Vrindavan was a small village. They uncovered all the holy places which had been forgetten from the past 4500 years.

    Krishna Conciousness was not "invented" on the 20th Century, it was established long time ago near year 500 by Sri Krishna's Avatar Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and its Associates and "exported" into Wetern Countries by His Grace Sril Prabhupada on the 20thn Century

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  6 років тому +2

      I never said that Krishna Consciousness was invented in the 20th century, I said that the Hare Krishna movement associated with Prabhupad came about in the 20th century.

      Yes, I said: "Hare Krishna is a sect invented in the 20th century". I was referring to the Hare Krishna religious sect. And after that I specifically said that Krishna the god and Krishna worshipers have been around for thousands of years. Perhaps listen to what I was saying again. I was making a distinction between the 20th century Hare Krishna movement and Krishna the god, who has been revered by Hindu worshipers for a very long time.

    Hi again Gabriel!
    A couple of unrelated questions for you.
    First of all, is there any particular reason you don’t have a drone? You visit some places that would be fantastic to see from above.
    Secondly, if cattle are considered sacred in most of India, and therefore not slaughtered, why are there so many, or are they simply “Ferrell” so to speak? Are they owned by individuals? Are they milked?

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  6 років тому

      I wouldn't want to travel with a drone myself because for one there isn't much room left in my backpack and it's one more thing to stuff into it as well as try not to break, but also they're illegal in certain countries or certain areas. So it's more trouble than it's worth in my opinion, though I agree there are some places where the shots would be awesome.
      I'm not exactly sure what the situation is with the cows, but I think mostly they're free-roaming cows that hang out and don't belong to anyone. Perhaps some of them are milked by local people but I'm sure that commercial milking must involve cows on a farm somewhere, not the ones hanging out on the street eating garbage. I hope!
