- Needing to sample some fine Finnish cuisine or just have a quick lunch in the centre of Helsinki? You can't go wrong with the beautiful Vanha Kauppahalli. The old Helsinki food market can be found at Eteläranta near Market Square. The construction of this one storey building started in 1888. However, due to problems with cement delivery, the hall was not opened to the public until 1889. Join me while I have a look around this magnificent food market and try to decide what I will have for lunch.
