- If you've spent any time on the internet in the last 3 months, you'll be familiar with the Speed Cockpit and the bold claims The Frenchie Co. have made, in particular around it's strength and rigidity.
The Frenchie Co. recently got in touch and agreed to send us the Speed Cockpit to check out, so it's time to find out how this interesting piece of Sim Racing gear stacks up!

I'm waiting for mine to get shipped. Been a backer since the early days. Super happy you got a cockpit to review.
I hope the video helps answer your questions.
How much was it
@@danielwolfe4169 You do know you can just google it right but, it was 759 CAD so about 550 USD
@@DavidGarcia-oi5nt $550 US for that? That's insane.
Well for something that looks like that to have that strength is just really impressive
Watched this video right till the end for some reason... I don't need a new rig, don't need any sim equipment really. Just couldn't stop watching lol. A sign of well put together content it is then. Well done guys. 👏 👏
Thanks a lot Ruan. We really appreciate the feedback. Helps us fine tune our process.
I never thought of making my ironing board into a sim rig
Ironing board sim rig 😂
Good review! Nice to see that it’s actually all the makers promised while they had so many negative respond. It’s not for me, but I’m quite sure others will be happy with it.
The platform for the wheel has to be that strong for the post race victory celebration
Thank you for doing a non endorsement review man
Fantastic work
Awesome video as always. Thanks for the great info. Do you think that if you mounted HE pedals directly to the cockpit’s pedal plate it would give you one or two inches that might give your knees a bit more space?
I think they defiantly need to raise the wheel up higher to any persons height then i think they have a winner here. Well done on the video.👍👍
why would they need to be defiant about it?
Excellent review and massive effort! Well done
Thanks mate.
As always, great review chaps 👌
Thanks Dave! Hope you’re well mate.
I totally watched this thinking “here’s a bit of entertainment of Will destroying these guys...”
Genuinely surprised! Never judge a book by its cover! 👍🏻
You've become my fav channel...great content as always! Do you think you could possibly get your hands on a Simetik K2R cockpit to do a review on?
We’ll see :)
Great review, I found the logitech stuff fiddly to mount but eventually got the pedals mounted a little off centre. This answered my question if it would stand up to a DD wheel and I think I may run my speed cockpit forever now, after making a spacer to go under the wheel stand 😂
Damn that LCD is older than my CRT 🤣😂🤣😂
Haha yep! You can always tell when your friends aren’t tech heads. I don’t know how anyone could own a $2m house and rock a TV like that. Haha
@@boostedmedia $2m house. Well there it is. The reason we dont have a $2m house is because we blow all of our hard earned on electronics. Lol
I think it's a very old plasma.
@@boostedmedia Admired the views and thought it is your house, looks like Central Coast in NSW. Great review, thanks have been watching your channel for a while now.
Being that it literally sits in the floor - seems like that would make it difficult to get in/out. And adding the shifter looks like it would be even more difficult to get in and out.
But - I’m 6’1”, so I’m sure my long legs would be hitting the base mount. This probably isn’t something that would work for me. But - thanks for the review!!
Will said he is 6'4" so you could be ok.
6ft. Not 6’4”
@@boostedmedia Ah at 11:10 I thought you said 6'4" but you actually said 6' tall 🤦♂️Sorry
I was sure this was just bs to be honest but it doesn’t look so bad...
I Agree
Same here. I thought this review was going to be painful to watch.
Not for 600 bucks. You can build one waaaaaaaay better for a third of the price
I feel like the only good thing on this is the visual aspect and decent rigidity. It has pretty large footprint, almost no adjustability, price wise it is competing with the extrusion rigs and the only advantage it really has over them, is the visual design. In everything else they are either equal (space requirement) or they win (rigidity, adjustability).
@@panvlk is true but I think we were expecting worse...
I've only just realised something, if you pause the video at the perfect time on the few times when will is looking forward in the rig, he looks very similar to eminem 😂
Haha! I get that a lot.
@@boostedmedia awsome! i mean who wouldn't want to see a Em lookalike reviewing sim gear 😂 just makes everything twice as good! Great video btw telling it how it is 👍
@@boostedmedia sooooo who’s the real slim shady 👀
@@roshananand6454 Sim shady*
It looks like the major issue with leg clearance could be solved by making the wheel post either higher or adjustable in height.
I'd never buy this as I have my rig sorted, but it looks viable to be honest.
I see you, will. Casually wearing 5ten in the living room. I know mtb is pretty common in Australia so I'm not surprised
To correct @27:05 you mention HSE Sprints have 60kg load cell, I have the Sprints to clarify they have 120kg load cell and one can exert 65kg of actual force at the brake pedal. I do read a lot commentary confusing V3 90kg load cell against the Sprint 65kg actual force whereas it 90 vs 120 in terms of load cell. Comprehensive review - like others I'm surprised, but was only an amused observer sitting in my TR160 lol.
Thanks for clearing that up!
I bought this a few weeks ago. I actually like it a lot. I'm 6 feet and it is ok for me. Any taller is a problem. Mine was missing the elastic bands for cable support. I inquired if I can get a replacement pair, even offered to pay for them. The two emails took weeks to respond and they need to launch an investigation. Really! For a 2 dollar elastic band and you need an investigation. I would be hesitant to recommend because if there was something missing or damaged I think you would be out of luck.
For the wheel deck if they extended down the underside V-shaped(ish) mounting a few inches and added multiple mounting holes it would mean the lower ones could be used to move the deck higher for taller people.
Can't wait for the coffeeracer review! Is it far away? I am soo close to the buy button 😅
Just an aside - I find the animated intro so much more appealing putting after the intro/teaser - I get to know exactly what the video is about straight away, then reach for drink and settle into my seat while the 'promo' plays whereas before it was just annoying ff or sitting through just to see if the video was worth watching.
Great feedback. Thanks. We’re actually working on a new intro at the moment (shorter). :)
It looks like you could switch the wheel base top holder plate frontback. And you'd get the upwards angle adjustment you needed for DD wheel bases.
He commented on the holes not lining up when flipped around
I just see to many non-adjustable points that would scare me from wanting to buy or use this. It is definitely strong from what you showed, no doubt about that. I also prefer a cockpit that doesn't have that center point between my legs, very constraining.
I'm surprised. I guess there's something to that double density foam. Lol
Defiantly won't work for me at 6'6 though, so I'll still be sticking to my F-GT. But I'm genuinely impressed with how good this has turned out.
Great review mate. I have to say, it really looks great and seems to have surpassed my expectations. How does it compare to the next level racing F-GT in terms of flex etc ?
@@boostedmedia thank you
They could add holes in the center post also either include an extra higher post in the kit for different heights. But it looks very good. On the website the products lack descriptions some of the add ons have no info. This is something I would order.
why don't they put two tubes with different length so that u can choose which one you prefer and install? It would be better that way.
While it doesn't look as bad as my first guess. The need to mount it to a plank of wood ruins the portability/storage that was promised.
I’m going to cut the board so it can be actually stored away, or I have to spend some time to disassemble and assemble back
Backed project since August. Still waiting for it. Import tax and shipment will cost at least $100. They will be transparent about it so it’s not a surprise.
Thanks for this review! Looks like there was not much space between your hands and your knees while rotating to right/left. Did you feel that your knees "block" your wheel rotation?
Yes it was an issue due to my height. It wouldn’t be a problem for shorter people though I don’t believe.
Do you screw the wheel base into metal threads or are those wood screws?
Assuming metal you could put some cheap plywood under it to raise it up, probably need longer screws though.
Then your knee won't get dinged up.
I’m gonna end up building one either from square steel or wood. Haven’t decided yet. I have a conquer cockpit and it works, but leaves a lot to be improved upon.
Keen to see what you come up with!
Tom
For a wheel base that costs over £1000, that flex in the quick release is shocking!... Regards the cockpit, if you move the seat back slightly more, your knees would automatically go lower.
My DD1 has no such flex - some have it, some don't. Anyway, Fanatec will introduce a new QR with the upcoming BMW M4 GT3 wheel...
What size bolts did you use for the csl elite pedals and wheelbase? Great review video!
M6
@@boostedmedia my bad for being unclear, I was interested in the length? It's my first rig and I want to make sure I get this right 😂
Oh right. 10mm is enough for the wheel and 20mm with nylock nuts for the pedals.
@@boostedmedia thank you so much! Really appreciate it
No problem mate. Enjoy the new setup! See you on track :)
Did you have any luck mounting the G29 pedals? I just received my cockpit today and ran into the same problem you mentioned
You can get them mounted if you offset them but no, not without fabrication work
Great review! The rigidity is really surprising me.
It surprised us too. I brought the G923 with me to the house fully expecting it to be the limit of the cockpits handling capacity. But was perfectly happy with how it handled the DD considering the market it’s aimed at.
Timesaver - It's $498 USD
$598. The 498 is just for the chair without board and wheel mount. Shifter plate is also extra.
@@craigalexp Oh bargain! Yeah, I'm looking on eBay at an old Seat Cupra passenger seat and some wood. Big F to that.
Hello, Little answer. The wood seems to be larger than the original picture (wood stops at the level of the butt of the driver). Is he foldable ?
Hey Will.. Fellow Aussie here... I recently purchased the Fanatec CSL elite & the WRC wheel, I just revived my wheelbase today but no wheel.. Do you know if Fanatec send the items separately even though they were ordered together or do they send them separately? I’m not sure if they send items separately on the same invoice or Fanatec have stuffed up my order ... I thought I’d ask you since you are also in Australia & have experience with receiving items from them ...
Thanks in advance mate 👍🏼
Yep this is normal. Every order I’ve ever received has come in parts. The rest should show up in the next day or so. It’s because Australia post pick up in batches
Excellent concise review
The wheel mount appears to be way to low and even with the large cushion I could see a neck strain issue.
I'm 6'5", 210 so this would be a non-starter for me.
I think it would be good option to be able to store it vertically on a hook on the wall.
3*65 inch at the simrig, and one old 40 inch in the living room :D every man had to set priorities :D
greetings
lol this isn’t my house. We borrowed a friends place to shoot the video.
@@boostedmedia ah okay. sorry i didnt noticed that. But it could be mine. My Tv runs maximum 50 hours a year. otherwise it only collect dust.
they also state that this cockpit can be configured for GT style racing, so it would have been great if you tested it in the mentioned configuration.
for Aesthetics, yes it's a good looking cockpit, (at least my wife likes it 😁) but since it does not fold as they claim it does, i think there are much better solutions out there even if they were a bit more expensive or maybe less.
Nice review as always, cheers.
I talked about that in the video. I couldn’t get it into a comfortable GT seating position.
Another interesting video thanks mate! Great view from that room as well not jealous at all lol🤣👍
Haha. Not my house.
I was hoping you guys would do a review of this speed cockpit! I supported it at the beginning. I'm waiting for mine to be shipped.
So I'm glad to see that it is a good product. I just need to find a solution for the wheel mount to be a bit higher or I would have the same problem. Let's der what mine creative brain can come up with.
But thanks a lot for this review Will and Tom.
Keep up the good work!
I've heard that people didn't get emails for their contribution and no tracking number. Is yours shipped yet? How's the customer support?
@@Vincent-bt1qy I still haven't got a e-mail that it has shipped yet.
About the customer service I can't complain. A few weeks ago I sended them a e-mail with a question and I got a quick response.
I will keep you posted, if I don't forget 🙈
@@LegendarischeDaan thanks man I'm interested in buying it too but since I've heard stories of customers like you I'm unsure...
@@Vincent-bt1qy I have a update about the speed cockpit. I got a e-mail that the chair is ready for shipment, with a link where I can follow the shipment by DHL.
So I happy that I can report this update!
@@LegendarischeDaan thanks a lot me and my brother ordered the friends pack with estimated shipment around March. I'm really looking forward to try it out. Do you have an estimated date of arrival for yours?
i received a chair and also have a tear under the board and the box is intact. when you unpacked was the box intact where the tear on the under board
Looks like maybe you might be able to turn that foot plate to mount those Logi pedals? Interesting concept on that cockpit....not my flavor but cool enough
28:20 watch out there buddy, as a german i got pretty nervous at first :D but great review, thanks
Thanks for a very detailed review. Have to say though it's not for me. After an hours racing I'd have to call the paramedics' or fire service to get up again!
I think the only way to mount the G923 pedals is to have them offset a little bit to the side, either way. The slots allow for this to happen and then you have clearance for mounting the plate itself, I think this is how they thought of it. Or... even better - G923s might go straight onto the pillars, without the plate?
Tried mounting directly to the uprights. That’s didn’t work either not enough metal to mount to and they wouldn’t be rigid. Offsetting is an option but that makes using the clutch or left foot breaking very difficult due to the centre post.
I'm not sure how much I like the seatbelt that runs to the pedal tray. Especially the fact that it rests against the angled steel base. Seems like it could be a potential area of wear on the belt.
Yeah we thought that was a bit strange. They could easily cut a notch in the base of the wheel upright for it to sit under without compromising the rigidity of think.
@@boostedmedia Agreed. Thanks for the reply and the great content.
Hi what do you think would be better to buy that one or the F-GT ?
I thought it was a torture rack initially.
LMAO!!!! Oh boy!

But the more i see the 5-10 you've got on your feet, the more i want to know if you ride bike ans what kind of bike you ride.

...and it doubles as a home workout bench. sick!
Must say I'm impressed really thought it would flex a lot more
My pedal plate mounts to the front mounting holes of the g 27 / g 29 pedal base ( not all four of the mounting holes ) . Can you mount the Logitech pedals using just two / front mounting holes or just the rear mounting hole and be able to mount the pedal plate to to the stand / cockpit instead of trying to mount all four mounting points of the base to the pedal plate ?
Shims on the bottom of the wheel deck would raise it up and not add flex. Also the head pillow needs to be about twice as thick.
Possible. More leverage means more flex though most likely. Would probably want to spread the load over a wider area. But yeah it could work. Maybe they could include and assortment of shims.
@@boostedmedia I edited my post, to include that the head pillow could (should) be twice as thick as well.
@@boostedmedia I mean CNC shims that are the shape of the base, or even a solid plate.
Got three 65 inch hyper gaming screens for driving cars in games,

haha! Not far from the truth but this video was actually shot at a friends place
Just ordered a gt omega art cockpit with xl seat 2 days ago for a lot cheaper than this thing
Nice digs. Is that a beach in the backyard?
Yep. Not my house though. We borrowed a friends living room for the video.
@@boostedmedia tough life. :) Good work mate. I bought a Next Level Racing V3 platform based on your review. My wallet is not looking forward to your Traction Plus Review.
Haha were starting work on that in a few hours. :)
Can you adjust the wheel deck up n down or the tilt?
Great review
A better mousetrap that doesn't catch mice. Pedal plate problems, wheel deck issues and seating needs improvement. D+. Great video though, full coverage A+.
The shifter and wheel clamps come with spacers that might of helped
Not being able to fold is literally a deal breaker. That was one of their main selling points
Yep. We were very surprised this appears to have been removed from the design.
keep in mind that the v3 are in reality about 40kg
May I know what is the height of the wheel base + centre post
If you look at the indigogo video the base of the steering shows the angles running front to back not side to side like you have it
We followed the provided instructions. The Indigogo website shows multiple variations of the same product. None of which match what we were sent exactly.
@@boostedmedia also was thinking you could just get a thicker rectangular plate made to put onto the timber get some longer length screws then screw in as normal, would also help with the front to back movement you were showing with the steering wheel as a much beefier base
Holy Thread resurrection batman! How much does this cockpit weigh?
They really need to fix the clearance issues between the knee and wheeldeck and rim. If you had a larger diameter rim it looks like it would scrape your thighs.
Thank you
Idk. I have mixed feelings. I’ll admit that it does look very sturdy for something that can fold up .
It doesn't fold up advertised
Doesn't look very comfortable. I got myself an OpenWheeler Gen3 couple days ago and i'm very happy with it and the sturdyness. Using it with the Clubsport v2.5 and no issues with stomping on the brakes.
cant help but notice the 510 shoes MTB rider?
It seems all videos, comments and blog posts stopped 5-6 months ago. Are they still selling this?
I saw someone posting on Facebook about a month ago that they bought one, but other than that I’ve seen nothing. They dropped off the planet for us after we released our review. Never responded to an email we sent them asking about the wheel deck not folding, etc.
This could be really nice considering how every alu rig looks the same and is bulky. But I think it’s just a bit too limited in terms of adjustability especially with deck height, that keeps me from buying it. I would love to see more mainstream rig builders come out with more unique rigs like this.
I don’t look tall enough for these things, I’m only 5’4 are these things adjustable for short people?
Its funny I was only looking this up last night thinking they had given up after the poor response on FB xD
At 1st. I thought the "grain" on the t.v. cabinet/stand was a printed circuit board.
Heard not height adjustment on the center post and clicked out. Hard life at 6’5”😞
Great review but you should mention that there is no room between the wheel and your knees, so everytime you turn the wheel more than 30°, you pull away your knees... See 35:00. Or did I miss the comment?
I said multiple times there isn’t enough room for my knees.
@@boostedmedia I meant especially that this problem increases when slightly bigger wheel rotations happen... Anyway, keep up the great work! Thanks :)
Whoa, whoa, whoa! What a view!
Everyone 6 foot and over always finds a way to bring it up lol 😆🤣🤣
Where to get this Will? 😊
I loved but I will buit if they but a version with out the center pole and with a more ajustable steering wheel base
It's an attractive looking cockpit which is nice to see. But beyond this I see the main selling point, at least from its marketing materials, as its ability to fold up. Without this option it's really long and, to be honest, a bit misleading given their site still indicates you can easily fold this thing up. Why wouldn't I just get a dedicated, more traditional style cockpit, with the added comfort and flexibility it offers? Also, speaking from experience, centre post designs get really uncomfortable if you're unable to adjust the lateral position of your pedals. You often have to twist your knee, and then apply heavy braking force with this twist, to account for the pole which over time can become painful. Not saying it will definitely be the case with this design but it's something that put me off.
yeah, problem of center post design. CSL DD out recently. Am looking for a sturdy cockpit or wheel stand for it, at minimum price.
nice review mate, my god that dd2 wheel flex though, get the screw in man haha or a z ring or something, thats terrible, mine does not flex like that at all, i wanted to shout at the screen seeing that lol
How do you maintain the suede wheel?
I’ll do a video on that soon.
this vs the next level racing f-gt ? which is better in your opinion ?
They’re both better/worse in different areas. This has a more rigid pedal plate and back support than the FGT and the wheel deck surprisingly has less up and down flex. But the fgt is more suitable for taller people and adapts from GT to formula seating positions better than this does.
I love mine!
Pretty impressive
Reminds me of a new version of the bob earl vrc
priorities my man!! 3 big tvs for sim racing an a shitty old one in the livingroom :)
It’s not my living room.
Do you think this cockpit is really worth its price ?
Cheers from France !
It really depends on what you're after. If asthetics are of high importance to you then I'd say yes. The build quality and materials are good and we've tested cockpits that are more expensive and don't look as good or provide the same rigidity. But there are better options available in terms of raw strength and adjustability if aesthetics don't matter to you. I see this primarily as something that will appeal to those who want a sim rig in their living room that is less likely to upset the Mrs.
is it foldable? it takes quite a lot of space, I don't really see any benefits of having a "normal cockpit"
This is covered in the video. It is but not as they show on the website.
It looks like originally they were aiming for foldability/storability, which ultimately didn't happen in final product. Some earlier concepts have foldable centerpost and the wooden board isn't behind the seat, making the footprint a lot smaller.
It's funny that some of the other youtube "reviewers" who clearly went with the endorsement style video still mention storability as a strong point, despite it obviously being a complete nonsense in case of actual final version.
