so much better than watchmojo
Whats wrong with watch mojo you fucking psedointellectual
They like the same fucking list lmao
Yeah, I like him better too :)
Lom Pyke same
Although I didn't fight in any war, my father (O.B.M.) was a radioman on a converted LST, the USS Alecto AGP-14. My father and I had a medical practice together until he
passed away in 2012 from Pancreatic cancer. My father's ship had an A-Frame
which would lift and repair PT boats as well as supplying them with the necessary
torpedoes, four I think. I read about, and watch films as well as documentaries of both
WW 2 and the Vietnam War. But who am I to argue with people who know cinema a heck of a lot better than I do. Thank you picking your top ten Vietnam movies
that portrayed, as best as they could, "Hell" on earth. I try to give the most respect I can to any and all veterans.
I knew Apocalypse Now would be #1! It's my favorite movie!!
definitely deserves top place
the way coppla played with used shadows in this film is amazing and gives it a vibe no other vietnam war movie has come close too!
as great as Platoon is, it only takes about 7 minutes of screen time before you realize Apocalypse Now is going to transport your mind, body and spirit into the horror of war.
Apocalypse now is just at another level
The Australian film "The Odd Angry Shot" belongs on this list.
Danger Close Battle of Long Tan was brilliant too
I felt like we We were Soldiers deserved to be at least in the top 5 slot because it was truly emotional.
*Soldiers
C t g s l a y e r Oh damn you are right.
djhit70 I agree with you though. To me it's probably #1
C t g s l a y e r Yea it had a great mix of violence, badass moments and some really touching ones that say america didn't just steamroll Vietnam and that they were a formidable force and caused a ton of casualties.
djhit70 absolutely.
My top 10
1. Apocalypse Now
2. Platoon
3.Full Metal Jacket
4. We Were Soldiers (very underrated)
5. The Deer Hunter
6. Hamburger Hill
7. Born on the Forth of July
8. Rescue Dawn
9. Forrest Gump (the reason it's so low is because only a very short part of it was in vietnam, but it was good enough to make it on the list)
10.Green Berets
Green Berets was pure Hollywood. Watch Firebase Gloria.
Love this list!
I love that he plays "The End" by The doors at the end...
Wow, can't believe Hamburger Hill didn't make the top 10. You left out Go Tell The Spartans, Rumor of War, BAT 21 and Off Limits, Gardens of Stone, Dont Cry It's Only Thunder, The Friggin Green Berets...the first movie on the Vietnam war....
JC Mewbourne Hamburger Hill definitely should be on that list.
Ya, you are right, i think it is not in this list b/c it tell the true. American Soldiers died on that hill for nothing. :D
Platoon... Favorite movie of all time
you are the best i gave been looking for the movie Casualties of War for around 3-5 years but forgot the name but right when i saw the trailer i knew it was the movie
How is we were soldiers not higher up the list? Love that film :)
This was a great list. I've watch and forgotten some good movies and this list helped me remember.. vheers
So glad to see The Deer Hunter so high on the list. It's my personal favorite Vietnam war movie, and war movie in general, but I totally understand Apocalypse Now being number 1.
One Shot..
We were soldiers is my favorite one
Me too.
Wow
Platoon is # 1 on my list.
James Kipp amen
the deer hunter is really good but crazy long personal favs to platoon and fmj
84 Charlie MoPic is one of my personal favorite Vietnam war movies.
Hamburger Hill portrays the most accurate sound effects of a 155 howitzer round exploding, the infantry fire movement tactics used by the actors are so authentic that i would have mistaken them for real soldiers...
And yet, it didn't make the list but Forrest Gump did. Wtf!
i completely agree with the top 5. perfect order
My top picks: 1 - Platoon, 2 - We Were Soldiers, 3 - Deer Hunter.
An often overlooked Vietnam war movie is Operation Dumbo Drop. It's a little more comedic but is based on the true story of a group of misfit soldiers going a journey to replace the working elephant of a village that got killed in a firefight. Awesome soundtrack, great cast and a really heartwarming adventure.

Could you do top 10 actor performances? Smashing UK
man, that top 4, so legit and always classic
Great top 10 vietnam war movies just wish there were more :(
P.S what about Rambo ?? lol :)
Rambo is more about Vietnam vets than the actual war itself. Still a great movie though.
Mark Saxton too unrealistic
rambo 1 was an epic movie after that all sequels were shit
Rambo is an rubbish movie
@@trandangphuongthuy 😭😂
Would top ten survival films be a possible list
This list is a joke. Forest gump made the list but hamburger hill got an honorable mention.
THE BEST VIETNAM WAR MOVIE IS FULL METAL JACKET
Good list and descriptions but you missed
CHARLIE MOPIC 48.... very cleverly shot and harrowing.
The outtakes of We Were Soldiers contains a scene that could relate to the last 20 years in Afghanistan. Moore says to the
Brass "We'll never run the little bastards back home Sir, they are home"
How many times must a say this Forrest Gump is not a Vietnam war movie
My top 5: -Green Berets
from 1968.
-4: The Iron Triangle from (1989).
-3: Go tell the Spartans (1978).
-2: Platoon Leader (1988) with Dudikoff.
-1: POW the escape (1986).
I personally think We were solders should have been higher than Apocalypse now. The movie followed the book extremely well and is historically correct. And gump beating HHill no way.
I agree
Apocalypse Now is so so so much better than we were soldiers
What about The Odd Angry Shot? great movie
Go Tell the Spartans. It's production values would bar it from the Top Ten, but it should have made honourable mention.
It was better than either of Stone's movies
"Bullet in the head" is a great Hong Kong movie about the vietnam war. John Woo's version of The Deer Hunter.
good list but would have liked to see the " killing fields " somewhere in there
In my opinion, one of the best Vietnam movies I've seen is 'Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan." It's about the Australians and New Zealanders and one of their major combat actions during the war. I thought it was really good and encourage others to watch as well.
I'd substitute for several of these: Go Tell the Spartans, The Siege of Fire Base Gloria, and The Odd Angry Shot.
About french Indochina war, Pierre Schoendoerffer made three very good movies : "La 317ème section", "Le Crabe-Tambour" and "Diên Biên Phù".
I wish that casualties of war has more fighting.
Rescue dawn was so intense but so good
Hey UK, how about the top 10 films about the British Empire.
Here are several more that could have made your list: Siege of Firebase Gloria, Platoon Leader and The Odd Angry Shot.
Haha, Platoon Leader was garbage.
I just want to mention something about Good Morning Vietnam. Adrian Cronauer was asked what he thought of Robin Williams' performance in that film. He replied "I was never that funny."
I wouldn't call Forrest Gump a Vietnam movie.
The best movie ever about Vietnam war (and winning at least an Oscar) it will be a movie acurate about "My Lai village massacre"...
Danger close???
Fun fact: The main character of Born on the Fourth of July is the uncle of another UA-camr that goes by the name of Adam Kovic on the Funhaus channel.
Tom Cruise plays Adam Kovic's uncle! :D
Bat 21 is good too
good
FMJ Was such a good movie
Again awesome list but I don't think Forrest Gump counts as a 'war movie'.
I can’t believe what Soldiers have been through
Great. I'm a Vietnam veteran
Casualties of War or Platoon for #1
Let's see observations from a Marine in Vietnam Combat!!!! First Platoon was what not to do!!! Then Born on the Fourth of July was a total loss of faith and I knew Ron Kovic's radio man personally!! Then there was Deer Hunter, sorry I didn't play Russian Roulette when I was there. Finally the big Number one. Sorry I didn't have a chance to water ski down a river either. This was supposed to be based on Tony Poe's life but politics got in the way!! What I was involved in was about four fire fights a day every day for over four months and the nearest movie to what I did in Vietnam was a movie called (84 C Mopic)!! Oh wait, no known stars in the movie, yet it portrayed trying to stay alive in the bush, when they went out, though I was out 95% of the time, Company area for four hours every nine days. These to me are nice Hollywood movies and yes I watched and liked too except for the first half of Full Metal Jacket, I personally lived that!! So people out there if you want what Vietnam was really like (in the bush) see (84 C Mopi.
Alright Cowboy
Gunnery Sgt Hartman from Full Metal Jacket is the icon of a Rookie Officer
thx of alls films i lookes "Boys in company" understoond is series "Tour of Duty"
Tropic Thunder should have been an honourable mention hahaha
I think "The smell of grass burning" is the best
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
we were soldiers and young was number one in my book it was true to the American men who fought in Vietnam, thank you Vietnam veterans I will never forget your honour
What about Tropic Thunder?
....sorry couldn’t resist.
Right. the Vietnam War as a righteous comedy.
The fun and games of the Korean War in "MASH"
And the hijinks and comedic mayhem of WWII in "CATCH 22"
anybody know which movie is the one where everyone dies? I just remember a part where one injured black soldier resting on a tree was shot in the guts by a VC. Another part is a guy who wore a helmet think he'll be safe and then got shot in the head.
I'd like to see the Top 10 Korean War Films, if possible, a VERY underrepresented War in cinema.
We can definitely look at making this list in the new year!
@@SmashingUKProductions that'd be great!
You got it all wrong buddy hamburger hill should of been number one easily it is the best Vietnam war movie that was ever made
Platoon was the best
Platoon should be 1st
You forgot Rambo
The night time firefight is so realistic, so exactly like one I was in up on the Rockpile, I had some kind of weird post traumatic experience the first time I saw Platoon. PTSD became a ploy for scamming undeserved wealth, just like Agent Orange; but that relatively small number of us, of the huge number deployed, who actually experienced combat were affected.
Read To Cratisto
I am a warrior and this is my soul
Boys in Company C
The first film debut of R.Lee Ermey
I need to look it up... but there was a great tommy lee jones movie where he marries a Vietnam namese gal and brings her home to the states... much of the film takes place during war but the meat of the story is the aftermath
Heaven and earth
Bro were can I download we were soldiers movies
There are not 10 vietnam war movies better then Hamburger Hill, I thought it would be top 5 Apocalypse Now is on my top 3 best war movies of all time with Platoon and Savind Private Ryan. All in all not a bad list.
Hamburger Hill does not deserve to be in this list are you insane.
You missed the tiger land
You missed Rambo, which YES is a Vietnam War movie... a HELLUVA a lot more than Forrest Gump is...
Actually FMJ isnt supposed to be a war movie its intended to be a state of man movie
I get disappointed when I don't see heaven and earth make these lists.
Where was coming home? or does that not count
Top 10 War movies Japan vs Amerika
1.Flag our Father
2.Windtalkers
3.Hacksarig
4.....
5....
6....
7....
8....
9....
10....
Several years ago a poll of Nam vets was taken asking the most realistic of all Nam movies: Believe it or not ,Hamburger Hill won.......Just sayin.....
How sleep the brave is a good Vietnam war film
Rescue dawn
Is awesome
Rip Robin williams :(
A rumor of war Phillip J Caputo
hamburger Hill and platoon leader, Forest Gump, Platoon.
Haven't finished watching yet but if Apocalypse Now is not number one
In my opinion vietnam war movies are the best of the war genre
The most realistic one was s honerable mension?
In my opinion Platoon should have been number 1.
yes
Nope
uncommon valor
how is we were solders only at numver 9
Apocalypse Now is a physiological thriller.........
mark quinn Whilst 'Apocalypse Now' does focus on the psychological effects on soldiers, it is nonetheless a war film, but one that excellently portrays the traumatic and psychological horrors of war. Thanks for the comment.
We Were Soldiers should be number 1 since it's the most accurate Vietnam war movie to date.
Mark Henderson Yeah but it looked like it was filmed in a local park, that is what hurts that movie.
Marty Mcfly!!!
