I work in treatment in Orange County, CA. Yes body brokering is a HUGE problem. This practice makes it almost impossible for legit treatment centers to stay open. These pos' will admit themselves into a place under the disguise of wanting help and before you know it they have corrupted the other patients to leave treatment with the promise of free drugs and money.
No one needs "help" getting into treatment. Google is a great resource or calling the members service number on the back of your insurance card.
Btw everyone knows exactly who he is talking about here in Orange County, why the feds haven't shut that guy down or raided his places is beyond me. This has been going on for a few years now.
I first met Abraham in late 2020. I am scared for him. He is a shell of his former self 🥺
Abraham you are in my prayers 🙏

I fear we are all done for and it’s simply a matter of time before the corporation will kill you with the poison of their (and your) choice under the guise of a solution to your problem.
End stage capitalism is the exact same as end-stage-any-disease. It’s the end and then you die. At least drug dealers are up front about the fate that awaits.
Sending all the healing thoughts your way, Abraham. 🙏

It may be that way in CA but it's certainly not in TX. Employers aren't required to provide health insurance in a lot of cases, tons of loopholes and ways around it. There's little to no chance chance of an working age adult getting on Medicare or Medicaid or any kind of government assisted health care. There are indigent care programs and free clinics if you're sick, but those are usually county programs and those clinics are packed. Depending on where you're at in the state, the rehab facilities that accept patients through those programs are usually full, with weeks or months long waiting lists. And they're not very nice facilities, unkempt and not very clean. Old houses slightly retrofitted, short staffed because the people working there aren't paid much at all. Not very secure. And they're typically filled with patients who are ordered by the courts to complete a rehab program instead of going to jail. Not many people simply looking to get clean voluntarily in there. It's even worse if you're trying to find a bed for someone needing mental health treatment. They're pretty much nonexistent in Texas. If you've got mental health issues, you just go to jail and get put in solitary in a "turtle suit". I haven't personally dealt with that but I know several friends and family who have and are.

@@sooverit5676 I foubt local authorities would do anything. Not really their wheelhouse, their jails and courts are over packed. If it's not a violent crime in LA or SoCal, they look the other way or just let it slide more often than not. And I'm not sure there are laws on the books that makes this practice entirely illegal. Or if there is legislation, it may not be written in a way that makes it easier to prove.

This video gave me chills .
I met Abraham in 2020 , he looked nothing like this . Abe was my roomate at a treatment center in Beverly Hills . He put me on to what he was doing and being an addict in active addiction , i wanted in . On my 28th day out of 30 days , Abe snuck in fentanyl and was over dosing , being his roomate i called in the tech on duty that night and he was narcanned and saved but the tech went home that night and used the fentanyl and died . In the morning the staff was very upset and accusing us of the techs death . Abe and i left out of spite and got a hotel room near skid row in LA where i tried meth for the first time and i ended up in a psychosis and going to jail .
I don’t like to talk about this traumatic experience often because it was a tough time in my life , but today i am 18 months clean, working at a legit treatment center in New Jersey , and prospering and loving my life . What’s crazy to me is while at work during the over night shift I’m staying awake by watching this channel and I see Abraham on here . A shell of his former self .
Go home Abe , I’m back in New Jersey after surviving the horrors of Californias treatment scandal and i am back with my family and recovering from this disease of addiction and the lifestyle .

2 yrs sober here. Something that stood out to me about this interview is that Abraham is addicted to the chaos. He gets bored and sabotages his sobriety. Abraham, life is not meant to be all about fun, excitement, thrill. Life will be boring. But there’s something so beautiful in that peace, in that quiet. You’re scared of it and it feels weird in the beginning but once you allow yourself the peace all humans need and deserve, you won’t ever want to go back. These feelings im describing wont come in 90 days. I still feel my mind shift daily at 2 yrs sober, constantly building myself and my life up again but its really rewarding. The tasks of getting ur life together are daunting but once you figure out a plan, small goals, you can do it. Don’t put so much pressure on yourself. Addiction is very complicated, and I think you can believe you’re addicted to all the things that are associated with the addiction too; the danger, ups and downs, the little thrills of life outside the normal world. But it’s still actually the drug addiction that’s driving everything, and those associations are incidental, and really only something you like because it’s attached to drug use, and your mind connects the two, like how a when a dog hears it’s bowl gets excited, because it knows that there’s gonna be food, not because the sound of the bowl is so great.

Believing I had a drinking problem many years ago, I put myself in a 6 week rehab facility in a residential "treatment center"at the age of 54. Everyone else in the place was much younger. I quickly discovered that I did Not have a drinking problem...and spent 6 weeks watching these "kids" who did NOT want to be there but had been forced into it. It was a horrible eye-opener. They were drinking mouthwash...sneaking pills in, and found every loophole because addicts are sneaky and smart. There were 2 deaths while I was there, both on the day after a "resident" left...because when they went home, they immediately went to their "drug of choice" taking a dose they could have handled before rehab but was an overdose after 6 weeks clean. I watched at least 4 kids return to the facility after being discharged because it was the closest thing to home they had (their friends were still there) so they "lapsed" to get back in. The so-called treatment was a joke. The staff were not professionally trained, there was no one with any medical background and the "kids" treated it as a joke.
I believe that rehab should be a life-line to an addict. But there are unscrupulous places out there calling themselves rehabs that should be investigated at the very least. Choose wisely and carefully.

@@MrJames-tw3so 👍🏽 the rehab system over here (uk) isn’t half as brutal as over there and they do have relatively good success rates; the main difficulty over here (I think) is access to things like drug rehabilitation services are often dependent on whether drug rehabilitation or any particular subject is a current hot topic or not which can mean many grass roots services can come and go no matter how good they are if they’re reliant on any government funding and I think a lot of funding, even if it’s non government can be influenced by what the government tells us is important at any given time 😏 but generally, if a person is serious about getting clean, they’ll get into a good enough rehab and many can be accessed free of charge and have excellent after care services as well, so in this area, I think we fair better than you guys but as we know, no matter how good the service is, if the person isn’t ready to quit it’s not gonna help them and I think no matter where we are, if we’re serious about getting clean, we’ll do it and one way or another help will be there, a bit like when the student is ready, the teacher appears and visa versa ☺️

This gives the patient money to continue their habit once released, under the assumption that the patient will return to a rehab facility to provide the agent with another commission check. The agent splits this payment with the patient again and the cycle continues. He's arms are all over the place, around his body, up in his hair, he's swinging on the chair like crazy.
I'm not familiar with the different words for everything but I've heard the word tweaking about people using meth. I'm not sure what it means but I think it's when your body is moving on it's own without you being able to control it.
That's what I believe is going on here. It's not stress like you and me would be stressed out.
But I may be interpreting your comment the wrong way.

So let’s forget about insurance fraud? Those are big companies right? They have enough money? Is that it? Addiction is horrible, I have it and always will be letting someone commit crimes and lay down with dogs and act like nothing is complete horsecrap if that’s what your saying. Giving people like us a pass is enabling us to say out there longer

Good luck man, as a recovering addict with over 10 years from NJ I know alot of where ur coming from. Got to really try to break those habits of body brokering and do the program.
The only person you can get clean for is yourself, you are really young so its extremely hard being that young and STAYING clean.
Your mental health needs to be worked on at the same time.

This young man says he had an excellent upbringing with two loving parents and a stay at home mom. He still chose to use heroin recreationally and says his mom quickly got him into rehab once she found out. His parents were there for him. Yet he then he chose to get into the body brokering activity, scamming insurance and leaving other addicts without the legitimate care they needed. Very hard to feel empathy for him.

I'm at a loss. I knew the recovery industry was fucked up, but this? This is literally the first time I have heard of this and I have been sober since 4/3/2003. Alcohol is my drug of choice and AA is what got me and keeps me sober. I once did inpatient treatment and a bunch of outpatient in the 90's but it was only to satisfy the courts. I once volunteered for a short period of time at a treatment facility while I was laid off from work. That is the total sum of my experience with the recovery industry.
I want to commend Abraham for having the balls to not only tell his story while putting himself at obvious risk but also for his honesty about why he has struggled to stay sober. When he talks about how he can get 30, 60 even 90 days but then gets bored and overwhelmed by every day tasks like paying bills and being present for family, I totally relate.
Getting sober and staying sober are two completely things. I spent my entire twenties getting sober but never did stay sober. Living life like a civilized human being is both totally overwhelming and completely boring. And while most addicts will say they want it, deep down they really don't. They may want the consequences to stop but not the stuff that creates the consequences. Drama, craziness, excitement...those are way more attractive than going to work, paying bills and being present for other people. Half the fun of drugs is simply the steps and the drama involved in just getting them. Drama is just as addictive as alcohol, drugs, sugar, caffeine or nicotine.
The hardest and scariest part of my first few years of sobriety was being in my own skin while at the same time not having a clue as to who I was. Sitting still was something I had never done. Serenity was a completely foreign concept and one that I was not the least bit comfortable with. And while that may sound like an oxymoron to non addicts it is something that I feel Abraham is talking about here. He is absolutely correct when he talks about being active in addiction. Nothing else matters and no one expects anything more from you other than to quit. Reality is a tough pill to swallow for most addicts.
I sincerely hope that Abraham finds a path to getting sober. It really is the easier softer way.

Really interesting to hear your experience. Do you think that it’s possible for an addict to ever get back to that time before they ever did drugs? I.e. no longer ‘sober’ but just like anyone who has never used?
