I was just about to say same thing.its so lovely to see parents who aren't parading their kids all over the Internet.Such a lovely couple and the house is beautiful!! Wishing you many happy years in your new home!❤
I was always amazed at the size of everything when i moved to Canada from the UK 30 years ago. Houses/Kitchens and such were just monstrous in size. Life in North America is not that great to be honest, even though I have been very successful in life living in Canada. I just miss the closeness of small town UK, where you know everyone and see everyone at the local pub. Walking in the countryside with the dog, quick trips to the beach and such. Canada is such a vast place, with nothing to do. I am in Houston for work for 3 weeks and it is boring as heck. Hoping one day to move back to a more simple life of walking to the pub for lunch and rolling my groceries back home in my shopping trolley!!!! Enjoy yourselves over there, looks like a wonderful house and place to live a quiet life with less stress.
Thank you so much! It has been a change of pace, and we are forever thankful for that! I hope you make it back home one day if that’s what you still hope for. Wishing you well ❤
I lived in Chicoutimi Quebec for 32 years, my husband and I moved back to Ireland 3 and a half years ago. The best thing we ever did. There is no comparison to the quality of life over here.
My maternal Scots grandparents live in Canada 3rd generation. The country is enormous. People actually travel the equivalent of London to Birmingham everyday to go work. It’s normal for them. The houses are very big also, usually made from wood and stone. In the suburbs, front and back gardens are large. I also have relatives in Australia and New Zealand, so I visit there also. The commonwealth is one big family. Australia is very hot in summer . Canada is very cold in winter both have a British temperament and lifestyle .
I appreciate your comments re Scotland, my wife’s Mom is from there and we love it there! Canada is a huge country and while you have not named where you live in Canada, the idea of boring is of course subjective. We live on the East Coast and have ready access to our Downtown (very walkable) with all kinds of restaurants and pubs to visit, theatre and other cultural activities. We have five universities in the local area so the community is quite diverse and better for it. Recreation means swimming / Paddle Boarding / Kayaking any time we want and literally 10minutes from the house. Of course, spending time on the water (Sailing / Motor Boats) are crazy popular as well. Gravel Riding / MTB re cycling is quite popular and multiple routes are readily available. I also ride Off Road Moto re Hare-scrambles / Enduro so if that is your cup of tea, there is a wonderful community here to pursue that realm of sport. Of course camping and hiking are readily available and quite popular as well. Winter means skating on the lakes and ponds and Alpine Skiing as well. The great outdoors may not be your cup of tea but give yourself another chance and get out there and live.
I love to hear your Scottish accent is coming back so quickly Zach. I Hope you both have a wonderful time settling in to your new home in Scotland with your family.

I just returned from a Scotland vacation, from Glasgow to Aberdeen to Edinburgh and fell in love with the rural countryside and small towns. Best wishes in your new home.
Your home looks like it will be a cozy, and warm space to raise your family! I love the sage green you have chosen for the wainscoting and wood trim, stair railings, etc...! The chevron terracotta tile is very pretty too! Every home with more than one person really needs a second toilet, and you will never regret making that decision. Congratulations on your new home!

Over time with built on the back to create another room and a large bathroom, discovered a cellar many years ago that we made rooms in, the opened up the loft area also with roof windows. Keep your American accent be proud your American. Don't ever lose your accent it's pretty. Your house is lovely and your doing a AWESOME/BRILLIANT job remodeling.

Him trying to remember the house y'all were looking at and you were talking about the one you bought.😂😂😂 that had me laughing so hard. Lol. Congrats guys!
That's scary, buying a house without actually seeing it but it paid off. The house is lovely and what you have done so is great. Deffo going to be a cosy home for your family.cant wait to see the next video.
I think that colour looks pink because of the reflection from the kitchen. It would be nice and more like the way it looks above the green piece of furniture.
We lived in the same exact size with our two kids for several years! (California, of course) What I love about your place is it seems like they made good use of the space. I remember always wishing we just had a little entryway like that & some kind of separate nook for the table, instead of having to share it with the living space. We also had one bathroom, and under the stairs there was a closet. We toyed with the idea of what it would take to put a bathroom under there but alas, never did. It definitely got chaotic sometimes so I think you're definitely going to be very glad about that choice! 😉
Thanks for taking the time to share! Yes, we’re definitely happy with our decision to add the loo. The layout works well for our family, and the storage was equally surprising!
Glad your channel came up as a recommendation. Your engagement with each other is great to watch. Look forward to seeing future chapter's in your Family journey.
We actually had a Cape with a basement, it could fit into my living room but IS STILL my favorite home. I balled my eyes out when we sold it. The carpet on the stairs, we did a Hollywood tuck, which is stapled under the ledge of the run to define it.
I love your optimism with everything, it's so refreshing ❤ I enjoy looking at properties online, and I love watching the American TV show My lottery dream home...one day ❤
Great show! Glad you’re enjoying. Sometimes, with our previous jobs, we saw a lot of sadness and unfortunate things, so we try to keep our perspectives with just how much we have in our lives. There’s so much to be grateful for, so we try to stay positive. Thank you for taking the time to comment ❤️
Absolutely adorable, and WOW...just WOW you did such a great job of it!! (Thanks Mum and Da for helping!) What a joy for you all. The colors are amazing, the lights are brighter than you may think, they look great. The half bath (WC) is just stunning. Such a great job!! You guys rock!
Looks amazing! I live in Portugal but I am half english so I've been in the UK many times and it´s amazing to experience your journey in Scotland. I'm 22 and hopefully someday I can move to the UK! Lots of Love!
Found you this evening on UA-cam and you have distracted me from watching the Italy vs Croatia football on the BBC because these videos are brilliant, such a fun, happy and smiley couple, I have subscribed and am looking forward to seeing so much more of your life journey. Hope that you travel around the UK when time allows and you get to Wales at some point so you can share as much of our 4 countries in Great Britain with all your viewers around the world. Good luck and thank you for making this journey shareable. 😊😊
Just found your channel and really enjoyed it, wishing you a happy life with your family and as grandparents ourselves we know how great it is for children to have theirs nearby and for sleepovers at grans house ! We are from Glasgow but left in 1966 when we got married to live in SA for a few years, then moved to Nth Yorkshire with my husbands job. I would love to move back but my husband loves it here, our daughter lives in Scotland but our son lives near us. I love the way you've colour painted all the woodwork, as we tend to paint it all white, but what a refreshing change, so very tempted to colour it now as we plan to decorate soon. Your house looks great and so refreshing to hear young people being content and not getting into debt for a big flashy house, which seems to be the way now with the majority of couples. Will follow you with interest, as keen gardeners I'd like to see yours and hear your plans for it. Love n blessing, Wee Scots Nanax
Thanks for watching and following along! We appreciate the kind words. We’ll definitely do a garden tour at some point. Not much to look at currently, but we hope to transform it with time ❤️
A large cutting board for over the sink, that when using the sink can easily just set on the open counter and the original prep space isn’t lost! Love this tour! It’s beadboard in the US.
Really enjoying these vlogs! Your new house is gorgeous. And the renovations so far perfectly fit the cottage style ambiance you want to create. So happy for you all. And big props to Mum and Dad for all their help in researching and maintaining the house once you’d purchased. That must have been the most enormous help 😊
Love your house. So nice to see one with character sympathetically renovated. It looks like it is going to be a really comfortable and happy home for you all.
Loving your videos , please keep us updated when you have time , thank-you for sharing with us , wishing you all the best best in your new home and life in Bonnie Scotland 🏴, take care x
I like the colour of your woodwork. Nice that you blended it through the house. The sink you had when you first moved in was like the one we had. My wife wanted a Belfast sink which meant a full new kitchen. She hated the small round bowl too, same as you. Since I am a carpenter it wasnt as expensive as it could have been if we paid retail and paid for labour. Your house is really nice. Hope you both like living here in Scotland and its all you hope for you and your family too.
Congratulations 🎉 wishing you all a happy, healthy and prosperous life in your beautiful new home 🏡 im sure you'll be settled in no time. Loving the colour scheme and those light's are gorgeous ❤
Love everything you’ve done, the colours are gorgeous and make for a relaxing space. Well done!!! (the plaid wallpaper and yellow stairs were iconic though 💛)
Welcome to the UK. I hope it isn't too stressful familiarising yourself with all our idiosyncrasies, peculiarities and general downsizing and slower pace of life.
Just watched your video, the house is beautiful, love the flooring in the bathroom and toilet. The lights are beautiful. I notice your door opens up to stairs, in fend-shui,to stop your money flowing out the door, put a wind chime ( I have a glass Angel) so that it drops down and separates the door and stair( I did this as we were always skint) worked a treat. Also put a couple of plant pots either side of ur front door with flowers in -even in winter ( winter flowering pansies) helps ur money to grow. But looking forward to the updates on your home. 😍
Welcome to Scotland! We are in Kinross-shire and know you will love living here. Your new home looks great and you will have so much fun making it your own!
Ive only just found your channel, 2nd video ive watched, and realised Zach was born in Scotland. You can already hear his accent jumping back and forth 😀
Great videos guys, welcome back and welcome to Scotland! I just noticed while watching this video the giant hogweed behind you guys, its probably worth while doing some research on these and why they are so dangerous for either you or the kids incase you touch one by accident and what to do. All the best in your journey and welcome home to you all.
When were were house hunting it was at the top of the market. It took over 2 years of viewings and offers to finally get a home. And at that time houses were going massive percentages over the initial offers over price. 30% and upwards in some cases. Super surprised to see electric sockets in the bathroom, never mind above rhe sink. I thought that was illegal. Pretty dangerous. But what a transformation. Classy. Well done.
Thank you! Yes, previously I think an owner did some of their own electric, so our electrician has been sorting things out for the past while. Still some to be done, but we’re getting there!
I did a bit of chuckling because I also look at homes everywhere. My husband doesn’t understand the obsession. I am so happy for you two to have ,over to Scotland, it is a dream of mine. Both my maternal & paternal grandparents were from Scotland. My husband & I have. I sited 3x in the last 10 yrs, I fell in love the first time but he doesn’t want to move back to cold weather. Ok, back you. I love your color pallet and I think the house is just as cute as can be. Very smart to put the WC under the stair, that will make such a difference. Also love the bathroom tile. Love the pendant lamps. I hope you do more videos. Without giving exact location I would love to know which area you chose. Thank you for sharing
The main big difference with England and Wales is offers aren’t legally binding until contracts are exchanged which usually happens months after the viewings, offers, surveys, utility searches, legal bits etc, This means sellers can cancel a sale for any reason up to exchange (so months the after the initial offer), including accepting a higher offer or just deciding not to move, and you loose everything if you are the buyer. It’s very stressful and silly. The Scottish and US process is much better!
I've got bad news for you- the Scottish system is now like the English one. 40% of all sales fall through. Our buyers were due to move in when 2 days before their buyers pulled out. Its disgusting its allowed to happen but contracts are not legally binding until everything is signed on the day of completion😢
We just bought a house sight unseen as well! My brother and sister-in-law sent us great videos and pictures and they have great taste so we knew it would be fine. We love it! I enjoyed watching your video so much! What a cute couple and so happy! Enjoy! 😊
Love the Scottish scenery. ive lived in Scotland before short term but due to visa restrictions i wasnt able to stay. It would be a very big dream to live in Scotland. I have Scotland in my heart ,
@SimpleScottishLiving , I wish I could. Can't afford the move. I also don't have a specialist skill to be able to move. My parents are living in the western highlands, but I'm older to be classed as a dependent. So it will be difficult to get over. I'm only able to go over on visits. I'm from South Africa 🇿🇦 Seeing your videos has made me "homesick" ❤️💙
The competition sounds stressful! We were lucky, bought our ideal home in 1999 in England, we viewed and put a bid in the same day the house went on the market, and the seller accepted, so it was all agreed before anyone else got a look-in. Since then the value has gone up by 6 times, houses are such a bonkers price now....Hope you'll be very happy there :)
@@martinarscott3524 Sounds like you bought the right house at the right time! That’s how it felt with our first house and hopefully this one as well! Thanks for watching ❤️
Welcome from the west coast of Scotland. I live right by the sea. Lots of dolphin, porpoise, seals, otters, crane, swans and so much more. I have the sea to the front and mountains to the back. ❤
In England the only time people might have a similar issue of offers over is when there are "sealed bids" on a property OR if more than one person makes an offer on a property. Some come in low, and then someone else may offer the asking price. But generally the price is what it is.
Oh, Annie! You are a woman after my own heart. I’ve spent many late nights browsing homes in the UK. I fantasize about renovating a dilapidated church, but I would be content with a studio or 1 bed flat as long as it is in an interesting building. This video answered so many of my questions!
That's a lovely house you guys have bought. Ok, not on US scale but once you put your own stamp on it you'll quickly adjust. Good Luck with the makeover guys. 👍
Thank you! Yes, definitely smaller, but it will be absolutely delightful in the winter with a Christmas tree and hopefully a dog curled up by the fire. Cant wait to finish up the work and get settled!
Welcome (back) to Scotland! Your house is lovely. I am loving your videos and find it very interesting the differences between USA and the UK, I think we always tend to feel life is better over in the states than here so this is really interesting. I would love to know what you both do for a living also and was it easy to find a job over here? You are a lovely couple.
Thank you for the kind words! We probably won’t share Zach’s job for the time being until we see how the channel grows, but Annie is keeping her US contracting job for now working with children in education/healthcare. We are so grateful to be here and to have the opportunity to raise a family in this area ❤️ Thanks for watching!
Having limited experience of the US, apart from Texas. I think you are very brave to downsize and to undertake renovation, as US citizens there employed highly skilled but cheap Mexican labour. Good luck. Your home will be individual and lovely. I hope that you and your 3 chokdren will love living there and settle well in Svotland. But remember, you had savings that most UK residents don't have. Scotland still has relatively "cheap" housing compared with South East England. And it is beautiful
Thank you for showing us round your new house. I hope you get used to the smaller size compared to your Californian house. Once it's completed and you move in, it will feel so cozy. Looking forward to your next video. I see your subscriber numbers have increased already. Hope they continue to rise. xx
Thank you so much! Yes, we’re enjoying the cozy feel even though we aren’t moved in just yet. We can picture the final product though and can’t wait for a festive Christmas! We are shocked by the increase in subscribers!
Thank you for the thoughtful video, hope you enjoy your new house! There isn't really an equivalent of a US-style real-estate agent in the UK. UK estate agents are agents for the vendor and never for the buyer. If you ever get around to buying another house - especially in Scotland - you will probably wish there *were* US-style agents. (There is a TV show on Channel 4 called 'Location, Locatiom, Location' where the hosts act as agents for the buyers,) Scottish house-buying process is also different in the fact that if you make an offer on a house that is accepted it is binding on both parties; this is not true of the rest of the UK. BTW don't let an electrician near your bathroom, or you will lose your sockets there! (Which you did!)
We LOVE Location, Location, Location! And, it’s so interesting to hear the differences in the home buying processes. Hoping we don’t have to go through that again. Thanks for providing more insight 😊
What a very likeable pair. I enjoyed this after it was rather randomly recommended to me because you are so pleasant. Over my dead body would I leave sunny Cali for anywhere in the UK, tho!
In the UK the conveyancing solicitors basically just fleece you for your money. They are not helpful, they don't respond to your queries, and they generally treat you with contempt. Vampires. I am yet to have a good experience with a conveyancing solicitor. Hope things work out amazingly for you :)
Tongue and groove paneling, but I prefer the American vernacular (like you said) of "beaded board". You have lovely home. You've worked hard on it. I hope you will all be happy in your new domain.
Welcome to Scotland guys, nice cottage, definitely made the right choice with the extra toilet & sink, interested to know what you’ll do for work over here 😊
So glad to have come across your channel! Thank you for sharing, loving what you have done to your home so far. We are also (a family of 5 and) weeks away from moving to Scotland from the South West in the UK, we cannot wait as it has been a year in the making coming backwards and forwards! We are so ready for it to be permanent 🎉 Good luck in your Scottish adventures and look forward to joining along on your journey via UA-cam x
@@SimpleScottishLiving 👋🏻 We're moving to Aberdeenshire and have been slowly but surely renovating our house in the hopes of living as off grid as we can eventually, plans to grow our own as much as possible and live the simple life with our girls in the beautiful scenery. Lovely to hear from you x
Too late now! It did have a cool effect, but we have big plans for the space. Might take awhile, but we’ll be doing an updated home tour fully decorated down the line.
My partner and I also moved to Scotland a few months ago from near London. 0 regrets so far and we also bought with only a remote viewing. One thing we noticed when viewing all the houses for sale on Rightmove is just how well decorated Scottish homes are. Most are modern and done up l, but even the old fashioned interiors like the one you moved into doesn't look "old". Just cozy. Hope the midges don't get you too bad.
@@DanKaz92 So glad your move went well following the remote viewing. It was worth it for us as well! That’s an interesting point you bring up about the Scottish houses and modern decor. We noticed that too. What part of Scotland are you in now? And what was the driving force for your move? Wishing you well ❤️ Thanks for watching!
@@SimpleScottishLiving we're in a small town just on the Southern Outskirts of Glasgow. So very close to Countryside one way, and very close to being in the City centre the other. My partner and I both work from home so we were able to move anywhere in the country. My Brother has lived up here for a while now so I've been able to visit a few times and see how lovely it is. Ultimately the house prices are amazing, the people are lovely, the scenery is magical, and there are so many trees. Not to mention 0 limescale in the water 👌 Best of luck continuing to settle in :)
@@DanKaz92 Makes perfect sense! So many positives here in Scotland, so we get the appeal. Thank you for the warm welcome. We’ll do an updated home tour once we’re fully settled in.
I love the light and shadow streams on the ceiling of the stairs created by that pretty glass overhead light. The green is elegant and cozy with the wheat flour carpet. (The yellow plaid wallpaper and yellow painted stair walls were cheery funny and dated.) I think it’s the right sized house you’ve bought, and your changes in the bathroom and creating a new one are great. I like the interim walls in the powder room that look like you could add frescos-though whatever is actually in the works will be better.
Thank you so much! We'd been dreaming about the space for many months, so seeing it all slowly coming together has been wonderful. We've made a few last minute changes due to items being unavailable, but we're happy with how it's looking. Zach is actually building our banquette bench seating in the kitchen this evening!
Respect for keeping the kids and their spaces private.😊

@@debraharris879 🤦♀️read through it too quickly! Thanks for catching that!
Well it's certainly going to be cosy in a small house BUT nothing beats having your own space & a roof over your head. Best wishes from Nottingham 😊
Agreed! As long as our kids are happy, we know all is well. Thank you for watching ❤️
I think that colour looks pink because of the reflection from the kitchen. It would be nice and more like the way it looks above the green piece of furniture.
That’s a good point. It didn’t even cross our minds! I have to say that with the red gone, there is no pink :)
We lived in the same exact size with our two kids for several years! (California, of course)
What I love about your place is it seems like they made good use of the space.
Love your new home in Scotland! Can’t wait to see what you do with it all!
Thank you!! We just finished the main bathroom painting today 😅 The finish line is in sight!
Would love to see vlogs from you guys

All the best
Adding to the ideas list :) Thanks so much for watching! ❤️
Glad your channel came up as a recommendation. Your engagement with each other is great to watch. Look forward to seeing future chapter's in your Family journey.
Thank you for joining and for taking the time to comment! It’s been such a fun journey to date, and we can’t wait to settle in ❤️
We actually had a Cape with a basement, it could fit into my living room but IS STILL my favorite home.
Love the renovations you’ve done, looks amazing. So glad to have found your channel
Thank you so much! It’s been a labour of love, but we’re thrilled with how it’s turning out. Thanks for joining!
Thank you so much for your kind words, we are really happy with how it turned out!
Looks amazing! I live in Portugal but I am half english so I've been in the UK many times and it´s amazing to experience your journey in Scotland. I'm 22 and hopefully someday I can move to the UK! Lots of Love!
Thank you! We hope you are able to live out your dream as well. Wishing you well!
Ive lived in cumbria for about 16years now, it would be my dream to live in the absolute middle of nowhere on my own somewhere in scotland ❤
That does sound like a dream! Thank you for joining!
Wow, that’s a huge compliment!! Thanks so much for joining and for taking the time to comment. Happy to have you along for the ride ❤️
Congratulations guys. Your home is beautiful!
Thank you so much!
Great idea! Will have to pick one of those up. Thanks for the suggestion and for watching! ❤️
The in-laws are absolutely wonderful people, and we owe them so much. We are so glad to be able to raise the kids near them ❤️
Love your house. So nice to see one with character sympathetically renovated. It looks like it is going to be a really comfortable and happy home for you all.
Thank you for the kind words! We’re beyond thrilled to raise our family here. ❤️
@@SimpleScottishLiving I'm really looking forward to following your young lives as the weeks go by. All the very best for the future.
Loving your videos , please keep us updated when you have time , thank-you for sharing with us , wishing you all the best best in your new home and life in Bonnie Scotland 🏴, take care x
Thank you ❤️ Yes, we’ll definitely provide an update once moved in and settled.
Thank you so much! Yes, the sink is a huge improvement, and we definitely don’t regret that decision. So happy ❤️
Congratulations 🎉 wishing you all a happy, healthy and prosperous life in your beautiful new home 🏡 im sure you'll be settled in no time. Loving the colour scheme and those light's are gorgeous ❤
Thank you for the well wishes and compliments! You’re welcome back anytime 😉❤️
I love the cottage look you've chosen. Very beautiful, and such a comfortable/comforting feeling. Congratulations on your new home!
Thank you for the kind words! We’ll hopefully get to move in next week 🤞
Love everything you’ve done, the colours are gorgeous and make for a relaxing space. Well done!!! (the plaid wallpaper and yellow stairs were iconic though 💛)
Thank you! We loved the tartan, but it had seen some wear. We hope to bring it back in somewhere down the line ❤️
We loved looking at your new home. Living there will be fun. So glad you are sharing your experiences.
Thank you!
Kitchen backsplash - paint it to match the green trim in hallway. And paint the inside of the open kitchen cabinets that color.
Ooh we might try that!
Well it all looks lovely and cosy and I'm sure you will all be happy in Scotland. Xxx
Thank you! 😊 We can’t wait to get settled in.
Omg I love the panelling and colours in the hall😍😍 stunning 🤍
Thank you!! We tried so many different choices 😅
What a lovely family home, love the colours you have chosen!
Thank you! It was such a different experience getting to choose colours knowing we’d be here for a long time.
Aww Annie, the way you laugh 😍 God bless you all 💖
Thank you ❤️😊
Welcome to the UK. I hope it isn't too stressful familiarising yourself with all our idiosyncrasies, peculiarities and general downsizing and slower pace of life.
Only slightly stressful but so worth it! We couldn’t be happier with this change of pace ❤️
These are great ideas! Will do :) Already have the new flower pots as well!
It's great that you have someplace to relax away from renovations.
Welcome to Scotland! We are in Kinross-shire and know you will love living here. Your new home looks great and you will have so much fun making it your own!
Thank you for the warm welcome!
Your house is beautiful and the work you've done to it so far is really lovely. You're also in the same area as me, so welcome!
Thank you! We’re so happy to be here ❤️
Ive only just found your channel, 2nd video ive watched, and realised Zach was born in Scotland. You can already hear his accent jumping back and forth 😀
It’s slowly finding its way back! Thanks for watching ❤️
Working hard to not though 😂 LoL
I could rewind that laughter over and over again. You two are awesome.
Hahaha, thank you so much!
Wow, we had no idea. Thank you for the heads-up!!
It's lovely to see your channel growing and these gorgeous videos. You guys are so sweet and I'm haply things are going well 😊
Thank you so much, Hannah! We appreciate the kind words. I sure do miss watching all of your thoughtful videos ❤️ Hope you’re doing well! - Annie
Thank you so so much! We’re loving it here. We are just south of Edinburgh ❤️
@@SimpleScottishLiving beautiful area. At least I don’t think you get midges there.
Wow, I can only imagine going through the whole process only to lose it right before exchange. That is stressful!
I've got bad news for you- the Scottish system is now like the English one. 40% of all sales fall through.
Our buyers were due to move in when 2 days before their buyers pulled out.
Its disgusting its allowed to happen but contracts are not legally binding until everything is signed on the day of completion😢
@@gillianm9367 🫣We hadn’t heard this about Scotland. What a nightmare.
Backing out occurs in the US also.

Such a cute cottage! I have a family of 7 in just about the same square footage, it’s totally doable especially when the space is used efficiently.

Beautiful!!! Great job!! ❤❤
Thank you!! 😊
But I have to say you guys are really brave to have done this sight unseen!
It was a huge leap of faith, but we knew Zach’s parents would be the best people to steer us in the right direction. All worked out great in the end!
We just bought a house sight unseen as well! My brother and sister-in-law sent us great videos and pictures and they have great taste so we knew it would be fine. We love it! I enjoyed watching your video so much! What a cute couple and so happy! Enjoy! 😊
Love your new home, Annie! This is such a fun and exciting adventure. Thanks for letting us follow along! ;)
Thank you!!! It’s been so fun getting to decorate knowing we’ll be in this same house for a long, long time. Hope y’all are staying well ❤️
Love the Scottish scenery. ive lived in Scotland before short term but due to visa restrictions i wasnt able to stay. It would be a very big dream to live in Scotland. I have Scotland in my heart ,
We hope you can make your dream a reality someday!
Sorry to make you homesick, but we’re glad to hear you’re enjoying the videos. We’ll keep them coming!
@@SimpleScottishLiving - Its okay :) i just miss it alot, gives me a nostalgic feeling. And happy to see the beautiful scenery of places ive not been.
Lovely cottage a very liveable space. You nailed the colour scheme. A very enjoyable video.
Thank for taking the time to say this! We’ve thoroughly enjoyed the process.
Absolutely stunning job you have done on your new home!
Thank you ❤️ it’s a labor or love, but we couldn’t be more happy seeing our home come together!
A lovely area you’ve moved to! I know it well, it’s a really nice place, very good community!
So happy to be here! ❤️

Welcome from the west coast of Scotland. I live right by the sea. Lots of dolphin, porpoise, seals, otters, crane, swans and so much more. I have the sea to the front and mountains to the back. ❤
Wow, that sounds absolutely delightful! Thank you for sharing and for joining. Wish I could see photos!
@@SimpleScottishLiving If UA-cam allowed posting I'd post some.
In England the only time people might have a similar issue of offers over is when there are "sealed bids" on a property OR if more than one person makes an offer on a property. Some come in low, and then someone else may offer the asking price. But generally the price is what it is.
Thank you for sharing! We were wondering how different the process might be.
Congratulations! I sure miss seeing you all the time at BBC but I am so happy seeing you and your journey! Thanks for bringing me along with you ❤

Oh, Annie! You are a woman after my own heart. I’ve spent many late nights browsing homes in the UK. I fantasize about renovating a dilapidated church, but I would be content with a studio or 1 bed flat as long as it is in an interesting building. This video answered so many of my questions!
Thanks so much! We’re so happy it was helpful for you!
@@SimpleScottishLiving Cosy, picture postcard stuff. We do that well during Scottish winters. Ha!
Congratulations on moving to Scotland. I was there 2 yes ago. Love the people.my dad was born in the highlands. You will love it!!❤❤❤
So cool! Also, thank you for your well wishes!
Thank you! We look forward to getting settled and raising our family in this new home. Beyond grateful to be here ❤️
oh my goodness what a journey you are having achieving so much in such a short amount of time good luck.
A little each day!!
(There is a TV show on Channel 4 called 'Location, Locatiom, Location' where the hosts act as agents for the buyers,)
Scottish house-buying process is also different in the fact that if you make an offer on a house that is accepted it is binding on both parties; this is not true of the rest of the UK.
Haha to each their own, but we get it! I’m sure we’ll have some minor doubts after our first winter here 😅 Thanks for watching!
Zach - your accent is coming back! 😀
Slowly but surely!!
In the UK the conveyancing solicitors basically just fleece you for your money. They are not helpful, they don't respond to your queries, and they generally treat you with contempt. Vampires. I am yet to have a good experience with a conveyancing solicitor.
Hope things work out amazingly for you :)
Thank you for the well wishes! We hope so too ❤️ We’ve been so pleased 😀
Tongue and groove paneling, but I prefer the American vernacular (like you said) of "beaded board".
You have lovely home. You've worked hard on it.
I hope you will all be happy in your new domain.
Thank you for the kind words ❤️
Welcome to Scotland guys, nice cottage, definitely made the right choice with the extra toilet & sink, interested to know what you’ll do for work over here 😊
Thank you! We’ll probably share that down the road once we see how this channel evolves :)
So glad to have come across your channel! Thank you for sharing, loving what you have done to your home so far.
We are also (a family of 5 and) weeks away from moving to Scotland from the South West in the UK, we cannot wait as it has been a year in the making coming backwards and forwards! We are so ready for it to be permanent 🎉

This sounds heavenly!!
The plaster wall in the half bath is perfection the way it is. It’s stunning. I would seal it and leave. It looks so beautiful with those tiles.
Too late now! It did have a cool effect, but we have big plans for the space. Might take awhile, but we’ll be doing an updated home tour fully decorated down the line.
Very lovely color palette.
Thank you ❤️
Wishing you every happiness in your new home. It’s going to be lovely!
Thank you! ❤️

@@SimpleScottishLiving we're in a small town just on the Southern Outskirts of Glasgow. So very close to Countryside one way, and very close to being in the City centre the other.

Ultimately the house prices are amazing, the people are lovely, the scenery is magical, and there are so many trees. Not to mention 0 limescale in the water 👌
Best of luck continuing to settle in :)
Beautiful home! I love the fireplace and stairs. The kitchen is great and an awesome stove.
