    Turbo kits for the non-turbos run about 5 k or so. Should add enough power to get that up to highway speeds.

      Not recommended as the NA 6.5 doesn't have the correct head studs to take the increased pressure (and heat) of a turbo.

    A quick tip for sudden rain storms, I always carried a cheap above ground pool cover in my jeep back in the day, call it the bathing cap if you will. Quick ,easy and folds right up. I would go all summer without ever having to put the roof on, worked awesome, just F.Y.I. Cheers from Canada.

    I do want to make one point. The H1 needs engine updates, which are expensive but make a massive difference. I have 20 grand into my truck already and I love it. It accelerates like my Toyota. Your truck has a beautiful $8,000 paint job, $3,000 rims, $2,500 tires, $3,000 Predator brush guard but zero engine work. The money was spent, but on the wrong stuff

      What motor work is done? Turbo kit?

    • @FrenchedRacks
      @FrenchedRacks 10 місяців тому +1

      @@briane.buxton3076 I got everything from RubberDuck4x4. High output injectors, injector pump and fuel lift pump. Bigger turbo with intercooler, upgraded radiator fan and free flowing exhaust. 40" tires on Cepek rims, which really do improve handling and lower your engine rpm's over the stock 37". Finally a tune up. The horsepower is about double now but the responsiveness is night and day. Its not a Predator 750 hp Duramax for $75,000 but it was a very effective $14,000 package that provides 350 hp (stock is 195) makes the H1 a lot of fun to daily drive. I'm saving up for the cool exterior upgrades in the near future too.

    • @hummerguy
      @hummerguy 6 місяців тому

      @@FrenchedRacks I'm completely fine with the stock power of the turbo 6.5, the NA 6.5 is just a bit too gutless especially when the fan kick on, I'm looking at putting a 6.5 in a BRDM 2, if I can get 350hp out of it reliably, I'll be more than happy, that has to be around 700 Ft Ibs of torque

    The main tank is 25 gallons. What you likely had was a bad fuel gauge telling you that you were empty while you still had 10 gallons left. My low fuel light comes on when I still have 7 gallons left in the tank.
    You can't get OEM soft tops anymore from AM General - there's a company called Rubberduck 4x4 that makes aftermarket soft tops. The 94 had no turbo (thankfully it had 4 gears). Get rid of those stupid wheels and tires as soon as you can as they are actively killing your ball joints even when its parked and not moving.

  • @fiero11
    @fiero11 2 місяці тому

    I drive a military HMMWV M1152 as a daily driver and while you have noted most the issues with driving a Humvee correctly, I have no issues driving 70 to 85 mph with the ECV model and 65 mph with the older model Humvee with the 6.5L and turbo 400 3 spd transmission. People who ask me about driving a Humvee, I say it's a fat, squatty jeep that doesn't go fast, doesn't hold much and gets really crappy fuel milage, otherwise it's great offroad vehicle. Military Humvee fuel tanks hold 25 gallons and if it has an auxiliary, an additional 15 gallons. As for putting on the soft top, it is easiest to lay it upside down over the hood, roll the leading edge bead through the channel and work it from the front back finishing with the rear corners and the rear curtain. Before this, I use to drive a M923a2 5 ton troop carrier as my daily driver. Parking was probably the worse aspect with it.

    The Duramax conversion by Predator Inc will make this experience much better. The Factory H1 engine only has around 170 HP which is atrocious for a vehicle that weighs so much. That's why it's so slow. The Duramax conversion fixes that problem and adds 465 HP with 1100 ft lbs of torque.

    I had to laugh at you putting the top on in the rain, I've had to do that SO many times on my boat.....what the hell is that? as a dark cloud comes out of no where and you scramble as everyone else piles into the cabin to stay dry. If I recall right, our gun truck hummers had 25 gallon tanks.

      agreed. Main tank is usually 25 and the secondary tank on my civilian 96 is about 14.

    I love my Humvee ..❤... My Girlfriend bought it for our company... It does everything you could ever want to do on four wheels .. Except going fast ... Unless you are driving down a beach... It will run 50 MPH on a Florida beach...😊

    What are saying is not 100% true a lot of the H1 hummers have two fuel tanks. The improved engine they put in it is better the duramax. The hummer comes in hard top and many other variations. If you test drive one of the updated hummers before they discontinued it.

    It didn't shrink its like a trampoline. You are supposed to attach or button it from opposite sides or else you won't be strong enough to stretch it how it needs to be.

    Angry Craig is my new favorite version. I was in the same rain storm brother. New England can suck it.
