PH pushed CODE OF CONDUCT in South China Sea - Supported by Japan and South Korea

- The Philippines pushed the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea which is supported by Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea.
Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. underscored the importance of producing a Code of Conduct in the South China Sea, that is aligned with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. Marcos Jr. made the statement during the ASEAN-China Summit, held a week after several countries scorned Beijing for releasing a 10-dash line map that claims nearly the entire South China Sea, and a day after the newest Incident of China’s blocking the resupply mission to Ayungin.
The Philippines emphasizes that practical cooperation in the maritime domain can only flourish with an enabling environment of regional peace, security, and stability, anchored in international law, Marcos Jr. said in the meeting where Chinese Premier Li Qiang was present.
While the Philippines will continue to assert its rights in the South China Sea, Manila is committed to reaffirm its commitment to the rule of law, through the code of Conduct in the South China Sea and peaceful settlement of disputes.
Marcos Jr. noted that some progress was made during discussions on the Single Draft Negotiating Text for the COC, which was held in Manila a few weeks ago. An effective and substantive COC that is in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, remains the goal for ASEAN and for China.
Universal multilateralism is the only recourse in an interconnected and interdependent world. This is in a context set against a backdrop of geopolitical challenges and macroeconomic fragilities.
Marcos Jr. also underscored that it has been 20 years, since China signed ASEAN’s Treaty of Amity and Cooperation, an agreement that guarantees commitment to universal multilateralism and the rules-based international order. In the same meeting, Chinese Premier Li Qiang downplayed China’s alleged aggression in the West Philippine Sea and claimed that mutual trust between ASEAN and China has grown deeper.

What code of conduct are we talking about when Beijing continuously ignores international norm. Better to make a definitive stand with those who adheres to them and implement those laws as such. Build permanent structures to serve as outpost to which fellow allies can visit them and patrol these territories as a forceful group to enforce the civilized norm. China's coercive economic and militaristic adventure must be stopped.
All countries claiming SCS violated the previous code of conduct so it's unfair to just blame China alone when China has pretty much exercised restraint. You should look beyond US propaganda of demonizing China.

Kasi malapit at malaki ng Bansa sila,iyan kanilang ginawa. Di kung ganoon pala kung ang India ay mayroon din Body of Indian Ocean eh, pupuwede din aking in din ito, Pero itong Chinese ay iba ,gumagawa sila ng sariling Batas.

The Spratly's territorial dispute between Beijing and Hanoi still persists to this day. Until and unless the territorial sovereignty issue is resolved, the Philippines has to wait its turn to deal with either Vietnam or China on the sovereign rights over the waters surrounding the Spratlys.
