For a long time, I've been contemplating these factors in house orientation. Thinking that some of chinese feng sui did not based on beliefs but derived from practical observations. Its only now that I found that there's somebody also who is knowledgeable on this. thanks.
Basically, this is how architects start designing. It's not just drawings after all, we take these factors into consideration to translate a proper design for every lot. Not all house designs are suitable to every lot so it's advisable to consult architects as design professional for this matter.
I'm not an architect or an engineer but I've been designing houses and floor plans with sunrise, sunset, and wind directions in mind. It's just common sense based on observations but many are clueless how important this is.
Hi sir, what if ang bahay ay nasa isang subdivision where in ang mga bahay at ang mga wall ay magkaka dikit at ang frontage lang ang open. What can you sudgest about the sun and wind direction kung mag papagawa ako ng bahay? Thanks ang God bless..

Ang disadvantage lang kung nasa West side ang bedrooms is kung magsisiesta or idlip sa hapon, mainit pag sunny ang weather lalo na pag summer.

Maraming bahay akong nakikita at napuntahan sa Pinas an Hindi na design based on context and sun orientation. Kaya karamihan ng spaces ay Napaka oppressive, such as mainit, madilim, mababa, at mahina ang passive cooling.

Tama ka sir, somewhere along the way hindi na naging mindful ang mga planning and design sa pag orient ng bahay, nag depend na tayo sa electricity. This is the reason why I suddenly made a youtube channel, to improve lives through architeture, ganyan din ang nakita ko at obserbation, just imagine how many people is living under undesirable condition. nakakuha nanaman ang civil ng ideas.. naalala ko nung nag aaral palang ako nanghihingi sila samin ng floor plans yung simple lang daw. nung gumraduate na ako pumipirma na sila ng arki drawings.. bakit po sila rin ang nakaupo sa OBO samantalang wala naman po silang NBC sa curriculum nila? sila rin nagseseminar about NBC?
pati po sa BFP sila nag seseminar e wala naman silang fire code sa curriculum nila? nasan ang hustisya? ilang taon ang arki sa pinas bat di parin sila kilala ang labas taga drawing lang?
For health reason, sa vintalation ok yun, pero regarding sa sunlight, mas maganda pa rin sa east side ang bedroom para exposed sa morning sun. Matulog ka nalang early para hindi disturbo sayo ang heat ng sun sa umaga. Anyway mas maganda naman ang benefits ng sleep before midnight. search niyo lang. Lalo na sa panahon ngayon we need vitamin D and quality sleep.
Whatever works for the house owner is whats important, iba iba preference ay pwede naman. At least you can use the knowledge about sun and wind orientation for your benefit. Thanks.
Hello po. How about po kung sa east side is my nakablock na structure in getting natural light and ventilation but the west side doesn't have, would that change the appropriate settings?

Depende Yan sa site condition base sa site visit ng isang arkitekto.
I like the bed rooms at the East side instead, kasi sa tanghali when you want to take a nap rooms our cooler and the same when you go to sleep at night the same thing. Not unlike da west side super init ang mga rooms mula hapon till night because the heat was absorbed by concrete wall that stays longer. Also the heat of the sun in the morning is lesser hot compare to the mid day sunlight. Siguru sa mga kabataan Lang favorable yan dahil late ng gumising. Just my Personal experience in my house. But yes proper ventilation is important.

Yes Sir, dapat talaga may kisame at isulation ang bubong lalo na kung yero dahil sobrang umiinit ganong material, kung walang kesame directang ramdam ang init ng bubong, kaya para kang nasa pugon pag wala kisame.

You mentioned that in this video the surrounding structures are not considered. Could you make a video that takes into consideration the surrounding structures and other factors?
My house is a 2 storey located on a corner lot, streets are North & West. There are 2 storey houses on my East and South. Natural light is not a problem. But my 2nd floor gets very hot (36-39 Celsius) from noon to sunset even though I keep the blinds shut all day. The 1st floor is not too bad.
I plan to demolish and construct a new house. Due to small lot size, I thought of having the living space + a bedroom on the 2nd floor and 2 bedrooms on the 1st floor.
But how do I keep the 2nd floor cooler? Will adding a finished attic or even a 3rd floor help cool down the 2nd floor? I saw your video about using outdoor louvers, etc, but those (plus setbacks) would take away from my already small lot. Hoping you'll read my comment. Thanks.
