Personality, yes. Hoarding, not so much. It's one thing to save old cars, but not great for the hobby when you choose to let half of them rot to nothing when there's countless guys that would give their left nut to restore them.
What ? People who have great stuff that someone else would actually use but they won’t sell it and would rather let it rot away?? No thanks! I’d rather him be an asshole who would sell stuff

Receiving that ‘I fell in love again’ phone call was such GREATNESS!! But seeing how MINTY this car is when picking it up was THE BEST!!! We’re so pumped for you, Newbern!!
It sounded like he was talking to his wife, warming her up to tell her he's buying a car, and then I realized it was you and he was looking for a trailer and storage. LOL!!! We all help each other in this crazy old car hobby and that way we can save more and more. Be safe!
Them old gearheads like Dicky did us all a huge favor collecting and preserving them old cars. It is no wonder that they guard those treasures, if you can get them talking and prove that you feel the same way that they do they are quite generous as they want to see the younger generations continue on with that passion they have.
Isnt this how most of us get our project cars? I have lost count over the decades how many times I dragged home whole cars when I just went to find a small part. The genuine excitement of the find far outweighs the reality of what you have just done and the explaining you will have to do later. To me this is the highlight of all projects - the discovery! I look forward to the next episode!
I am so happy you got to meet Dickie Lee. He was a great man - very knowledgeable about cars and understood people. Put together two cars with help of Mr. Jones, back in the early 90s. Wife's '57 station wagon and my '55 sedan. Big Spring was a regular haunt. Like hallowed ground for cars. If you need it for a tri-five, he pretty much would have had it. There used to be a picture of my '55 on his wall. His wife Linda was one of the more charming women I've ever met. Saddened when I heard of his passing. RIP Dickie Lee! The Fin Doctor has left the building.
You could almost tell the moment the light bulb comes on over Mike's head - "Hey, we could do a REAL Roadkill episode with this - just like the good old days!" This is a good thing - a VERY good thing. -Ed on the Ridge
Honestly, I think he was doing everything he could to hold back the tears! Nothing wrong with tears of joy and happiness! Made me happy to see him so happy. Tough to contain that level of happiness!
Man thanks for the footage of the junkyard with the old man. I felt like I was there and there’s nothing I love more than a junkyard and listening to an ole hot rodder that knows his stuff.
Dave is almost beyond words. I know the feeling. In 2010 I dragged a 65 Nova wagon from Ohio to Michigan's UP. 2 years later I stripped it. For the next 7 years it sat in a body shop doing nothing. Next month I will get to drive it. I can't sleep until then.
This is reality, as opposed to those reality car shows. There's still cars out there, and people willing to sell them for a reasonable price. You just gotta do the work to find 'em.
If a guy is willing to get through the 999 "It ain't fer sale, I'm gonna fix 'er someday." to get that 1 "Wife is tired of looking at it, so it's time for it to go to a good home." you can indeed find a good deal.

Had a place like that near where I lived in TX. I bent a tie rod end on my Mach 1 and couldn't afford a new one so I asked the old boy that owned the place if he had one and he pointed at a coupe and said "That one. Whatever you can get off there, you can have for free." Looking back, he probably figured that the work to get anything off that car was worth its value. In the hot Texas sun with only basic sockets, etc and a whole lotta elbow grease, I walked away with a trunk full of miscellaneous stuff (master cylinder w/booster, alternator, brackets, suspension parts, electrical connectors, lightbulbs, you name it) and he got his satisfaction making a dumbass kid work for every part. That man has a yard full of gold. Beautiful and amazing find. He should move them away from the highway so people dont bug him. It's only gonna get worse as time goes on and they get even rarer.
This video brings back memories of traveling with my grandfather to car shows and swap meets looking and picking up parts for the antiques he restored. Thank you for sharing!
When registered as rv you are no longer a truck. I drive a semi pulling giant custom fifth wheel for owner. The look on their faces when you go thru non truck lines and tell them to look at what’s painted on side of sleeper “ registered as private recreational vehicle” priceless. Driving solo had police come after me skipping weigh station. They run tag and read lettering and just wave and leave. Drove passed The Thong Sunday and Monday. Love the videos.
I have done that more than once. Back in the day (mid eighties) I was hunting for a 4 speed for a 65 Mustang and came home with a 70 Nova with fresh paint. It was smoking out of one side. but still ran and drove.
Also done this. Went looking a set of wheels for an '88 Mitsubishi Starion I was V8 swapping, car was a little rough. Dude said I can't sell you wheels but I'll sell you the whole car. $300 later and I've got an entire spare parts car better than the one I was buying parts for...
I also did that back in the 80's when I was in highschool. Went to check out parts for a 58 Chevy. Ended up with a car minus engine and transmission that was straight, original paint and in way better condition than mine for $140.
I just did something similar last week buddy of mine told where a guy had some suzuki samurai. I went to buy a few parts, came home with 2 whole samurai. One of them ran within 10 minutes of getting it home.
Uhhhh....he's letting his stash rust away to nothing because he's a hoarder. He'll be 95 years old and still thinking that he's 'going to do something' with all those cars and all those parts, at least the few that haven't returned to dear sweet mother earth. That mindset does NOT help the hobby. That he actually sold something, anything, is the exception to his rules.
Wow that car is such a great find. Its got so many little details that are actually in great shape, like a lot of the chrome/trim/bumpers. This man has a million dollar collection sitting there and it's really cool that you guys were able to work something out. This is gonna be a super cool project in the future to see unfold.
If you guys get a truck gps get a Garmin 785 dezl I use all the time I drive trucks all day long and it does everything I need it to do. It has a dash cam I think you can add a backup camera. If you are gonna spend the money spend it on something good at least garmin

Dad memories today, he restored a '40 Special Deluxe coupe 40 years ago when I was about 10, 2 tone silver, 283 and Powerglide on Corvette Rally rims, chocolate interior, not fast but it sounded great and it was by far the coolest to me. The other memory involves bad glass, my Dad took me for an evening cruise in his '59 Vette, and upon turning into the sun we were immediately blinded by the bad original windshield. A bit of polishing compound and some even coverage with a basic polisher and its 100 times better. Awesome vid!
I will give Dave my wife. 2 kids and even my grandma for that 57 It's my dream car. My dad was born in 57. He and I only agreed on one thing. The 57 in ANY variant is the greatest car ever built. I would sell my soul to the devil to have a 57 (I live and Canada) and they don't survive up here. It's the one thing I see and always feel like my dad is with me.
OMG, what a nice old man to let you wander into his yard and film his classic Chev collection. Im a 57 Chev fan to and to see all these classics even tho they need resto is a great step back in time to yesteryear. Thank you for the upload and Hi from Down Under Australia.
It is awesome that you guys are able to go on adventures like this with each other. Regardless of the cars the memories and friendship are some of the best things ever!
Newbern will never have a better friend never Finnegan. At the very end almost looks like the happiness will almost be tears. My favourite also is the 57 my lifelong dream. So far out of reach for me.Finnegan you’re a wonderful friend.
Oh one more thing the hail storm that got the station wagon . you should have seen the new cars I think it was 1994 they did not hold up like the 57 . I bought to new trucks at Pollard Chevrolet that year when I took one over to get it serviced it was after the hail storm the dealer ships inventory was trashed the hail was huge and l am not talking soft ball size Big Spring got hit hard. Keep up the great Videos you know you can get all the metal for the 57

Dave’s excitement on the phone with Emily was great. Awesome episode and that place is awesome!
Finnegan: "Some see patina, I see perfection". Other people say: "Patina is another word for 'needs paint'".
Yeah, all it needs is a supercharged LS3 with a manual transmission and a set of wheels.
Yeah I dont understand Patina... nothing beats a fresh coat of paint on a classic.
@@CheapSunglasses0 well patina tells a story of the car. its the charme.
That man has a yard full of gold. Beautiful and amazing find. He should move them away from the highway so people dont bug him. It's only gonna get worse as time goes on and they get even rarer.
He won’t be around forever, gotta sell them sometime. No sense in just letting it all rot
Dickie is freaking awesome. I hope you hook him up with a ton of FSM and roadkill swag
Glad to see another one saved from just rusting away!
You know you're a petrol head when you go looking for parts and bring home a better car than the one you're buying the parts for.
When your project car becomes the parts car lol
I just did something similar last week buddy of mine told where a guy had some suzuki samurai. I went to buy a few parts, came home with 2 whole samurai. One of them ran within 10 minutes of getting it home.
Wow. That’s so cool....a real gentlemen...he made a car lovers dream come true...he knew he’d never fix that car up...what a gift.
what a great man . his dedication to saving this ultimate iron has payed off .
and needs to be Honoured .
What a cool feller! Bet he had some hotrod stories!
Dave and I could be brothers, our shared love of 57's almost makes us family..much love from New Zealand.
Roadkill is so great! From camping world and giving a well deserved shout out
One cheekah and 57s
Watching Newborn almost cry almost made me cry!!
If you guys get a truck gps get a Garmin 785 dezl I use all the time I drive trucks all day long and it does everything I need it to do. It has a dash cam I think you can add a backup camera. If you are gonna spend the money spend it on something good at least garmin
Agreed
Probably my favorite episode yet can’t wait to see the rescue
I watch fin and love his channel cuz it haz that road kill feel but I don't have to pay money like motor trend now wants to watch ,I can learn stuff and be entertained, and doesn't require me to sign up for anything or pay for anything keep up the good work fin!
12volts truly in tears having to leave his new found treasure behind...
"We will be back for you"!!!
I really think finn's right... drive er' outta there!!!
This is my favorite episode of FG so far. Keep up the good work! Can’t wait to see what y’all do with the newest acquisition.
Go back with the square body apartment building, camp out in it & make the 57 run. I bet Dickie would be into that!
I love the fact he calls Emily from flying sparks garage and ask to Barrow her truck and trailer!!!!!
I will give Dave my wife. 2 kids and even my grandma for that 57
It's my dream car. My dad was born in 57. He and I only agreed on one thing. The 57 in ANY variant is the greatest car ever built. I would sell my soul to the devil to have a 57 (I live and Canada) and they don't survive up here. It's the one thing I see and always feel like my dad is with me.
My second cousin Dickie's yard, he unfortunately passed away Tuesday in a head on collision. Right down the road from his yard.
Dude you were at camper world ! You needed to be at big rig TRUCKERS WORLD! LOL try any LOVs Truck stop on the interstate!!!
This episode had me smiling the entire way through...
You know your good friend when your there there for the bad decisions !!!!!
OMG, what a nice old man to let you wander into his yard and film his classic Chev collection.
Im a 57 Chev fan to and to see all these classics even tho they need resto is a great step
back in time to yesteryear.
Thank you for the upload and
Hi from Down Under Australia.
It is awesome that you guys are able to go on adventures like this with each other. Regardless of the cars the memories and friendship are some of the best things ever!
I love how Newbern turns into a kid in a candy shop when he starts seeing '57s.
Too bad there’s only one piece of candy!!
Ahh, the glorious particle board dash :)
Always take the off ramp, never just keep going down the highway. Words 2 live by. Peace!😎
Keep up the great Videos you know you can get all the metal for the 57
You guys probably made that old man's day walking and talking about his stuff lol
This guy needs to have a plan for these cars for after he's gone... it'd be a tragedy to see it all crushed!
Right, it's need catelogged while he's here cuz he's the best one to say what it all is!
Greeting from Quebec Canada
