Correct sentiment, wrong reasons -- a giant blower sticking out of the hood would ruin the aerodynamics, wing cars came factory-butchered. Those vents on the front fenders? They're there because NASCAR at the time still had to be stock bodies. Pretty sure the homologation cars sold to the public had solid metal under those, but on the racecars they covered massive holes cut in the fender to keep the tires from rubbing at 200+ mph, so they had to put them on the non-race versions too, so it looked like the real car..

The dual plug Hemi has a lot of interesting history, I rediscovered some of it in the book about the development of the Motown Missile, which was a sorta back-door factory race development car. The original dual head distributors were made by grafting a second distributor head onto the mechanical tach drive of a tach drive distributor, so the caps sat at right angles instead of side by side like later ones. As I recall, dual plugs didn’t result in a huge power gain (on gasoline, anyway) so it didn’t take the world by storm, but it would eventually become the standard Fuel engine configuration. Hey guys I’ve found that air duster turned upside down will shrink the hole of a wheel if applied evenly. It’s counterintuitive but I was in band and couldn’t understand why my cold trumpet was always flat but a hot trumpet is sharp. The metal expands and contracts evenly including thickness. Meaning that when it’s super cold the diameter of a hole is wider than when it’s hot. An air duster allows you to put a straw and cool exactly what you need to cool. If you put a torch on it the atmosphere actually serves to heat everything because there’s such a large energy transfer. With heat you will find a point where if you have two different types of metal expanding there will be a delta and your fused parts will release. They work the same way but heat is less controllable. I just saw using cold to get your wheel off quickly.
Always preferred the Superbird over the Daytona. Plymouth did a much better job of the more radical alterations {like the rear roof and backlight}, and didn't have to resort to heavy-handed cosmetic butchery just to get the damn things out the door and into the showroom like the Dodge Boys did. I nearly fainted when a buddy showed me what his Daytona's roof actually looked like underneath the vinyl top. Let's just say that what I saw would make the Death Metal Charger's construction look like a Chip Foose creation, in comparison!! As for Daytona knock-offs in general, the best one I ever saw was a '72 Dart Swinger that had a nose cone made from two 2nd-gen Trans Am rear spoilers spliced together back-to-back, and a rear wing consisting of plywood struts, capped with a 1x6 crossmember. That crossmember was fully adjustable too, thanks to the highly modified fence gate hinges on both struts.....

WJ on your dream wheels stands for White Jam. Some folks call it White Juice. That setup used to make the old owner's racing suit get real tight in 1 spot and then there was some White Jam in his suit.
A Daytona was just a stock Belvedere with a crude nosepiece and wing grafted on. Mechanically it was completely stock, except for a smaller radiator. Drum brakes and all. They sat on lots, until dealers removed the nose and wing. It's ironic that they sell for so much, most of themm are fake like this one.

Pepto needs a gen. 3 Hemi swap with a cope transmission behind it!
This is what I was hoping would happen to it when you posted the picture! Hell ya!
Now this is a build I can get behind. I can't wait to see more of it!
That car need some Chris Birdsong rust repair.
Always good to see Cotton, and he does the best worm I have ever seen.
Only Finnegan would buy a pile in worst shape than Death metal! Love it.....
This is why Mike is a legend
man that's so cool I live 20 mins from Lexington KY I would have gave anything to have met you guys thank u for all the content you do I love how it's all across the board
That whole idea definitely makes me smile! And the heads are as old as I am! At least within a month.
Finnegan for 56minutes,nothing gets better than that👍
Pepto Dismal is a great name. The stripes alone give me heartburn.
One of these days you need to find a suitable project car to prepare for competing in nostalgia drag racing. This one may be better suited for demolition derby. Love it!
Please please please keep this as a finnagans garage project so those of us that can’t get motortrend anymore can follow along with the build.
All I can say is, I can't wait to see this one completed!!👍
Probably one of the best FG episodes ever!!
Can't wait to see what you build out of this Dayclona. 🤘
Replace your smoke detector battery, lol great episode as always, can’t wait to see the build development!
Excited to see the end product of this one!
Somewhere Big Willie is Smiling .. .
That peacemaker wheelstander is a beautiful and show stopping vehicle in my opinion
Good to see cotton ain't seen him in a bit. Can't wait to see the build on this on guys. I'm sure it'll be on point. Btw the yota looks sick
This is the most American build yet
Cotten doesn't want that car. It's painfully obvious.
I love the old drag lites and drag stars...
Wow! I had a 1980 Mirada with a 318, black/ cream interior. Mine had a T top from the factory. In the winter time you could skate on the rear floor from water leaking in. It was my first car though and memories like that are awesome.
Good yard ornament for Dulcich!
Call the car Doe Jirt 👍 those rear pro street wheels look so good on the car. This cars gonna be bad azz
When I bought my Superbird I learned the hard way that at 80mph the wing starts to work and presses the trailer down, thus unloading the tongue and...
That ramp truck needs a bottom sump those top sumps are a terrible design they will always starve for fuel at 1/4 tank
One panel you definitely need is the hatch off a hatchback Vega. fills in that rear window panel very well
Finnegan. You and your team of gearheads are a bunch of mad men 😅 Always great content!
Cotten. Love pro street. The car I remember most from reading Hot Rod is Scott Sullivan's blue Nova. Yours reminded me of a Fairmont at first. Digging the Ocean Pacific paint job.
The NAYTONA! I love it and can’t wait to see what it’s going to be. Thanks for this awesome content ✨
I’m glad to see the Pro Street car is going to a good home!
I'm stoked for this build.
