Voice teacher here! I'm about to nerd out here, so feel free to ignore if you don't care that much. What you're doing is putting an extra "u" sound between the c and l in follicle - you're saying follicule. Interestingly, you pronounced cuticle perfectly, probably because there's already a u, so your mind accepts the displacement of the sound. Try saying the following, and whenever you get to cl, focus on the movement of the tongue as the back hits the roof for c then curls the tip up to the back of the top teeth for l, with no movement in the lips and only a slight voicing on the l:
    fol
    i (ih)
    cl
    follic
    licle
    follicle
    cuticle
    follicle
You may also want to have Sam read these to you without reading them yourself and do a repeat-after-me. Good luck!

I have an off topic question. Your beard looks incredible and really long. I know you’re a swimmer and I thought that swimmers wear caps and when people with long hair run, they usually put their hair up. Do you ever put your beard up? I would imagine that hair bands and whatnot would damage the hairs and lead to them falling out, but I was thinking about working in the yard or exercising your beard might get in the way. Thanks for the videos, I’m glad you have so many that I can basically watch a Dan C video everyday. I’ve learned a TON.

Hey Dan, I'm not going to lie, I'm getting increasingly frustrated with my beard growth. I've seen people in the streets before who clearly do not look after their beards, however it is it at an incredible length. Me Myself, I use oil, I use butter, I use balm, I blow-dry, I care for it and I'm just not seeing any growth over the last month or so so... it's like it's suddenly at a standstill.
My beard has become my pride and joy, something that I have enjoyed growing, enjoyed looking after and it feels great, hence the current disappointment.

    • @DanCBearded

@@DanCBearded I haven't been measuring to be honest, and that is a good point. I will start doing that, however I do have pictures from a month or so ago and it really doesn't look like there's that much of a change, I think that's the most disheartening thing.
I know people grow their beards at different rates, and maybe I'm just expecting too much too soon, but rough guide for me is when I'm applying the oil or the butter etc, I can usually grab hand full below my chin and it doesn't seem to be changing in terms of noticeable length.

Dan, this may seem like a nonsensical question..
It's about the terminal length issue.
Let's say I've reached my full beard length.
    Okay.
But, if I were to, then, shave it all off,
it will begin to grow back again, soon, as in 5 o'clock shadow and so-forth.
    So, how does that work?
It will grow after shaving but not so while elongated.
You mention something about the blood-flow..
    is that why?
    Thank you ahead of time!
    :-)

    • @DanCBearded
      @DanCBearded  4 роки тому +3

Great question! It has to do with how long your hairs stay in the different phases. Once you shave, you are not gaining any new hairs, it is just the same existing ones shortened. They grow because they have not had the opportunity to fall out yet. Very difficult to explain lol which means it is a great question

I have no problem growing length on most of my beard except the areas on top where our line up goes from mustache area up towards the sideburn. Any tips on getting this area to grow in fuller? Should i shave that area and and lower my guideline until its fuller or just keep growing it out and trim those areas only when needed. My beard is about 2 times longer than in this profile pic of mine, the curved area that connects my cheeks to my sideburn is the only area im unhappy with.

So due to my daughter I lost many inches due to breakage and pull outs. I feel I'm at terminal it hasn't seemed to grow. I was at 18 now just 11. So how long does it take for my growth to recycle? And people who trim often wouldn't they eventually not get any longer due to terminal? And would shaving reset it all or no? Always confused on this subject
