That sounds like a good Russian opinion. “ it could always be worse.”
If one must serve, serve well and mix in spirituality to it.

Can someone help me with the moral of the story? What are we to take from this tale?
Matthew 5 The Sermon on the Mount. It seems as if Aloysha is a “living” example of Jesus’ Sermon, especially verses 38-42 . Our free will is portrayed by all the others who abuse & take advantage of the meek or “lowly”.
Wouldn’t life be better if we all lived like Aloysha?
