Keeping Pearl Gouramis with Three Spot Gouramis can be done, but it's essential to take some precautions to minimize potential conflicts. These two species can coexist, but they may exhibit some territorial behavior or aggression, especially if the tank is too small or lacks hiding spots. Here are some tips for successfully keeping them together: Tank Size: Make sure your aquarium is large enough, with plenty of swimming space. A minimum tank size of 30 gallons is recommended. Hiding Spots: Provide numerous hiding spots and decorations like caves, plants, and driftwood. This allows each gourami to establish its territory. Mixed Gender: If possible, try to keep a mix of male and female gouramis. This can help diffuse aggression as the males may become territorial. Regular Feeding: Ensure that you feed them adequately. Hungry gouramis are more likely to be aggressive. Monitor Behavior: Keep a close eye on their behavior. If you notice any signs of aggression, like chasing or nipping, consider rehoming one of the species. Quarantine: When introducing new fish to the tank, use a quarantine period to observe their behavior and ensure they're healthy. Remember that individual fish can have different personalities, and what works in one tank may not work in another. It's essential to be prepared to separate them if aggression becomes an issue. Good luck with your gouramis!
I keep hearing about aggression but I've never had that problem. I have 4 in a community tank and they never bother anyone. I have 3 females and 1 male and they all get along really well.
What do you suggest if my pearl gourami is living with danios, kuhli loaches, corydoras and plecos is peaceful to the most but sometimes gourami attack danios
Pearl Gouramis are generally peaceful fish and often coexist well with smaller shrimp species like Red Cherry Shrimp or Amano Shrimp. However, there's always a chance that the Gouramis might view the smaller shrimp as food, especially if the shrimp are very small or if there's insufficient hiding space. Providing dense vegetation or hiding spots in the tank can help the shrimp feel secure and increase their chances of cohabiting peacefully with the Pearl Gouramis. Monitor their interactions closely when introducing them to ensure the shrimp are not stressed or targeted by the Gouramis.
Crossbreeding Pearl Gouramis with Three Spot Gouramis is generally not possible because they belong to different species (Trichopodus leeri for Pearl and Trichopodus trichopterus for Three Spot). Successful crossbreeding typically requires closely related species. However, it's essential to keep different species in separate tanks to ensure their well-being and maintain the integrity of each species.
I have 2 guarami I still can't tell from female or male I'm getting ready to put them in a 20 gallon tank along with 2 tetras the tetras are very small the guaramis are getting big
Determining the gender of Gouramis can sometimes be challenging. Males typically have longer and more pointed dorsal fins, while females have shorter and rounded fins. Additionally, males may display brighter colors. It's essential to monitor their behavior, as males might exhibit territorial or aggressive tendencies, especially during breeding. A 20-gallon tank might become crowded as Gouramis grow, so ensuring sufficient space and providing hiding spots can help mitigate potential conflicts. Keep an eye on their interactions, and if needed, be prepared to separate them or upgrade to a larger tank in the future.
Yes, you can keep one male and one female pearl gourami together in an aquarium with endlers and kuhli loaches. It is important to provide a spacious and well-planted tank with plenty of hiding places for all the fish to thrive. It is also recommended to provide proper water conditions and a balanced diet for all species to maintain their health and reduce the risk of disease.
I had two kissing Gourami‘s and both of them died from the same thing I don’t know what was wrong with them They went nuts like they couldn’t control their movements and kept slamming into the glass then fell over dead with the whole top of their head bright pink It was like they had a brain aneurysm

The ratio you have kept of 3 females to 1 male is correct. If you keep more than one male then you may have problems.

Your fish have died because of hitting the glass. Many times fish do this due to stress or due to bad water condition.
nice fish
Thank you
Great Stuff
GREAT unformation
Thank you
Pearl gourami's attack catfish and also smaller fish they are Not peaceful community fish they are semi- aggressive
yes they are semi aggressive
I have heard that pearls like to pick on cory cats especially, but mine seemed to mostly pick on my mollies.
@@drewzero1 will they attack mollies? I have mollies, should I not add pearl gouramis?
It is based on your tank. According to my experience, mollyfish are a good tank mate for a pearl gourami.
Mine partially ate the tails of 2 guppies
