Even though 3rd Strike has superior gameplay, The stages, loss screens, and little details of polish in 2nd Impact are so much better
3rd strike also has more characters and a better soundtrack

Ro Jaws this game is sexy and I wouldn't mind a side series with this architecture, but the progression of the series has been incredible. Despite the hiccups.
TrevForPresident I admit there are some advantages with 3D graphics too.
I'll always love sprite based fighting games, they just age way better and the HD touch-up for Street Fighter 2 is gorgeous looking. I actually would love if Capcom made a new game or a mode of a Street Fighter/Darkstalkers game where you could play it in a Sprite mode...I'd pay for that too.
SFV looks really good minus how badly they fucked up Alex imo :/. I just really hate the style for SFIV, I know the game has always had large hands/fits for gameplay purposes...but they went overboard in SFIV...like my friend says...looks like people have had way too much sodium in their diet. SFXT was still kinda bad, but it was a minor improvement look wise imo...or maybe it was the camera being pulled back more.
So, wait, Shin Akuma is secretly selectable in this game, but in 3rd Strike, he's just buried within the code? What the heck?

This game has to have one of the most laid back and soothing announcers in any fighting game, especially in the character select screen his voice is almost like he's murmuring to you.
The "I win you lose" scene part thingy is the best in any game I've seen

This has always been my favorite SF3 game. I just like it more than third strike. Better stages, better music, more colorful,better presentation, better win screen, ect. 3rd Strike is a step back in a few regards honestly. This is one of my favorite SF games period.

To clarify, that's the ending acquired for beating Shin Akuma. To encounter Shin Akuma, can't lose a round, need 3 Perfects. At the 8th battle, Akuma will Shun Goku Satsu your usual opponent and challenge you. Then against Akuma, can't lose a round (at least I think that's the case), need 1 Perfect, and you have to get the game winning round with a Super Combo Finish. Shin Akuma will then challenge you, defeat him to unlock him (Hold Start while selecting Akuma), and you'll also get the ending you saw here.

I always hated Gil as the final boss.The ability to recover health after getting k.o.'d once is unfair.
To be fair its very very predictable and can be stopped instantly if your timing is good
Yeah it can be stopped but what makes it harder is that during the animation, you get pushed away, making reaching him a bit harder.
@@NinjaRed5000 I just let him do his other super and then ko him before he gets to fill his meter again.
If Gill uses Resurrection and he's in the corner and you're using Akuma, you can literally press Strong Kick, and Akuma will do the close 2 hit up and down kick and stop Gill from resurrecting. Gill would have recovered only a small amount of life and can no longer fill up his meter after resurrecting. Works in 3rd Strike as well and is easy to do since Gill can't attack when he's doing that super.
I had forgotten that Gill didn't have a mirrored left and right, it's a small but cool detail :)

so they made Gill to specifically show that off

3rd Strike had the most characters, and was the most balanced, but man, the stages and music in this one...
Jose Colella They nerfed a lot of good characters in that game. Like Sean and Ibuki. Sean's Dragon Smash was Lame AF and Ibuki lost her Hashin-Sho super combo to some bullshxt shurieken move.
Those two were BROKEN in Second Impact, especially Sean.
This game is so fucking good. Better character designs than in V too..

You can do a air dive kick (↘MK) then a standing MK, cancel into a GouShoryuken all-day. The dive kick super fast and can cancel most anti-air attacks.
Shame that you didn't show off how absolutely broken Akuma's divekick is in this lol. He's safe with it even on parry.
This game is the best of the SF3 games. Has better music & stage designs than the other two games.
Watching this just makes me depressed at how GOOD 2nd Impact was.... We will never get games like these again

The jump in quality from 2nd Impact to 3rd Strike is incredible. Everything from the vastly improved mechanics, to the voice acting and music.

White Devil Shin Akuma is basically "Super" Akuma. They never finished him for 3rd Strike.
White Devil Max, on stream mind you, said and I quote "Shin Akuma is not in 3rd Strike". Although it's partially true, they were fully willing to put in Shin Akuma again. I guess most of their resources went to making Gill stupidly hard (even if New Gen. is the hardest version of that two-toned bastard)
2nd Strike is a thing of beauty on Switch (especially with the pixel-perfect widescreen option turned on--the only game in the collection that has this). I hope Capcom goes back to 2D with SF VI. I can only imagine how gorgeous it would look with today's lighting/shaders added to the 60 fps 2D sprites.

Can't wait to play this in the 30th Anniversary Collection.. The stages are awesome and the music in 2nd impact are the last True classic Street Fighter-esque sounding tracks capcom would ever produce. Sure 3rd Strike has the superior soundtrack, but it's not aesthetically street fighter in the way 2nd impact sound is. 😊
I hate that Urien in SFV doesn't have the metallic sound effects when you hit him. However when you do normals with him certain buttons sound like a blade swinging.
