Cheers Gavin so to solve the 4 wheel drive issue I put the brat body on a CC-O2 chassi wheelbase fits great, about paint mistakes we've all made them, thank's for sharing keep crackin on 😎👍
The white line on the sides was a good move. The roll bar could use some Hella lamps up there for show! Good job Gavin.
Get some Canopy or clear fix glue, to remove masking tape residue use some lens wipes or a little tamiya acrylic thinner on a cloth and gently rub.
Use PVA glue for gluing clear plastic parts - used by model kit builders as doesnt damage the plastic and anything that seeps out is easily removed with water.
I use Revell 39608 for all my builds and works well comes out nice and thin and dries pretty quick after applying it
Man that’s a beautiful Tamiya
just use some pva glue gavin easy to clean off and dries up clear
Did the same with fitted Re-Re Blackfoot body onto a King Blackfoot had some old decals but made the main red and yellow sections from vinyl sheets. Looks much better. Top job buddy, looks awesome! Scary that First run with a newly finished hard shell! 😱
Look Good Gav!- nice touch with the body colour between the roof panels! :)
The Brat was a Brat in this build 🤣 good job and a great Tamiya car 🚗
Instead of the regular head, mine has a Simpson's action figure Ned Flanders head
The driver looks good nice painting 👊🏻👍🏻
Great job, it looks fab. So glad you finally finished painting this one, you got there in the end!
That’s CooL
That’s beautiful 👌
Next time your gluing any windows use PVA it dries clear and you can clean it up with water
It looks great from here...
Looks stunning gav we'll done 🙌
Awesome job brother. To funny I just did all this building a mud blaster. All that detail painting was brutal 🤣
I like the fact you show your mistakes - much better than hiding them and pretending it all went smoothly. Great video.
Oh no!!! @RCKicks I bet you invented a few new swear words🤣🤣🤣
A few lol
Looks awesome!!. After all that I hope we're going to see a bit more of the Brat in action.
I never knew about the Blazing Blazer.
The filling of the seams on the rollbar and the T top and window gaskets really set it off. The little details count. Looks sweet.
Glenn had hard time with Brat body, now you. Mine's staying in the box forever then...
The issues I had are my fault vs the body itself but yes this one has a load of detail so it does take a while.
Very good job Gavin!
hi gav, I teach aeromoddeling for the RAF Air Cadets, if the new glue doesn't work on the clear plastic, I use PVA as that doesn't stain clear plastics or melt them :)
I use PVA for sticking transparancies or where i can hide it a dab of epoxy
Nice rig man, been painted more times than the golden gate bridge! Driver looks sick tho.... Could be a kidney problem🤙
LOL
I'm twelve years old again 😍
I have to say I really do love the Brat. One day I hope to pick one up! But great job on the painting...looks fantastic!
I remember doing my mudblaster, was a lot of fiddling to get it nice and detailed.
Looking great on the brat 👍
Wow.
This is such a beautiful model.
before gluing the rear window mask it peel it stick it on the inside🤷♂ remask glue and paint. use cheap products and get a cheap result. i would of left it a week to dry and i live in oz
Looks great so much work in the Brat body. Nailed it Gavin 👊🏻
Makes you appriiate lexan lol 😂😂😂
Glad to see the MP4/6 still with you Gav!
Next time your in Halfords pick up a can of the polyurethane clear coat for your next build. This stuff is super hardwearing and gives a very high gloss finish. Much better than the standard acrylic based one you used here. Just bare in mind it can take up to a week to fully harden and needs at least 2 coats.
Looks awesome!
I always wished Tamiya would have done full interiors, instead of just driver figures-- Just for that added scale realism
In armour modelling they paint the camo, apply the decals and clear coat. Then you do all your weathering, safe in the knowledge if you get something wrong you will not muck up your base camo scheme. Great looking Brat by the way.
I admire your perseverance! Looks great in the end!
I use a "Testors" paint pen to go around the windows. It works great and is easy to use. Thoughts?
Awesome paint job 🤙🏻
Nice touch on the roof hatch. Lacquer takes up to a week before I go near it. Sounds like you went in too fast with the masking tape. Done a great job. I have disasters all the time. Nice to see a real honest painting experience.
Looking sharp! The Brat always looks like a simple one to do but the details are quite fiddly to get right, once it’s done though it looks great , nice work. ;)
Nice job Gav, the small details make it pop - very box art! Question about the mention of T-Cutting and then waxing it when the lacquer has fully hardened - does that mean that you've lacquered over your decals? If not, won't you risk damaging those?
we've all had nitemares with body painting 🙄
Looks excellent well done a great job. 👍👍
Great job! May i recommend using "canopy glue" by Evergreen for the rear window? There are other products by Testers and Revell for clear parts and they claim to be more of a cement than a modified PVA glue. I have only ever used the canopy glue due to availability.
I had great fun with my brat ,,wish I’d kept it 🥹
Question - Can you just do window rubbers with a black marker pen for a nice quick simple job? Just curious......awesome video too 👍👍😊😊
You can do
Cool. What was the colour you ended up using fella ? Looks like Ford Race Red ? Cheers Dave
Hi Gav, i still can’t stand that squeaky music, otherwise it’s a nice video man, yah gotta love the Subaru Brat body, especially in red.
I rck Andy R I have 80's tamiya subaru brat .where I get blue body shells from.
Not that easy to find a blue body. Keep checking the facebook sale groups and eBay
Um, silly question but why not use Tamiya TS paint?
Price vs car paint volume and choice.
Hey mate please.
