This chassis was used as you know in many Tamiya kits. Back in the late 80's I could build this chassis blind folded lol. (I haven't built one in over 25-30yrs)Great chassis with many hop-ups and great buggies that came with it. Very simple build.
Gavin. You put a smile on my face as soon as you started running it with a bare body! Totally with you at that moment. Great little run. You reminded me of my impatient 12 year old self..not that I've changed at all! Keep up the great content 👍
Hi Gav, totally agree about the wheels and tyres but the tyres although fantastic looking have absolutely no grip, i would put up with it though for the awesome looking design of the tyres lol 😝 Niiiiiiiiiiice video Gav. 😎👍👍👍🇬🇧💣💥
Love it! Was never sure how the front suspension worked on the Brat. So what yo do with the lean... Well you could restore an old Monster Beetle chassis & use it to make a Mud Blaster.
Hi again Gavin.Watching this reminded me of how much I enjoyed this build. As I said before, the lexan body goes in the bin,BUT (and it's a big but) the hard body is superb to finish, from a modelling point of view, and there are few vintage Tamiya kits that hold as much nostalgia as this. The Sand Scorcher is one but its twice the price, and for enthusiasts who want to replicate the 80's experience, you can't do better bang for buck than this,or the Frog. It's funny, but when a friend at school showed me the Tamiya rc catalogue for the first time,in about 87,it was the Brat and Ascona and Hornet that I wanted. My Dad bought me a Fox for Christmas 85(which I chose),but even back then, there was a nagging doubt afterwards that it wasnt as 'metal construction' as a Frog but a bit plasticky.I like the Fox now,but wish I had opted for Willy M38 or Frog in hindsight. If anyone has let the Brat slip under their radar, you should get it,particularly if you dont own an ORV.It is just a unique chassis and runs very well on a sport tuned.Cheers,Gavin.Look forward to the rest.
Well thats the rere one... vintage has pogo sticks, no diff, indirect steering.... and only the abs shell. Originally it also has a 3speed msc and was at a time where you still had the 4 extra AA cells for your radio gear. Oh and the vintage original had hex driveshafts.
I really had fun building mine. I really like that it comes with two bodies. I figured the lexan body would be for driving and thrashing. The plastic body would be for display. If you want to build both bodies you will need an extra set of decals. The kit only comes with on set of decals. Thoughts?
Everything like bigfoot chassis gearbox steering But the differenece is subaru body And rims l😂l .. Even the new hilux from tamiya extra cup the chassis is like pajero But on hilux body😩 the best chassis between them its tundra And toyota bruiser 2012 nice video my dude ..Cheers🍺
I know the ORV chassis aren’t considered as racing machines but did you know in 1984 or 85 the Tamiya Frog was the German National championship winning buggy :) love a bit of trivia. Nice video as always
Funnily enough I've just built a Brat myself this weekend! Not painted yet so i'm looking forward to see how you do yours... Are you going to prime? How many cans do you use etc. I've ordered 2 cans of TS-8 I hope that's enough!
Always hated those wheels as the offset on the front is completely wrong and stupid, same as the Ford Ranger. The deep dish should be on the back not the front. You cal it quirky, just tells me the car was designed by someone who knew zero about real cars, looks better with Frog wheels front and rear.
My first proper RC car, back in 1984. Thanks for deciding to build this one, Gavin.
3:32 Pretty cool what you did on the box art. I had to look at it like 10 times.

Oh yeah! The Brat! One of the best ORV chassis (and original) and spawned so many other ORV wonders! Glad you drove it for us!
Mine is patiently waiting in the box upstairs.... i think it will be done when the Wild One is finished .... may be 😁
Once again you have saved the evenings entertainment 😊 will watch this later today 😊👍
This was the first rc kit I ever built . It got me into rc and building .
Would love to see a rere of the mud blaster
So many people want the Mud Blaster. No reason Tamiya won't do it at some point. We have the rere Brat and Monster Beetle so...
Great review and build.
This was my first Rc car , had great fun with it ..I wish I had kept it 😔
It’s a Great Chassis & very fun driver 😎 I find it a little top heavy with the Hard Body
Love the Brat. 👍🏻😎

Niiiiiiiiiiice video Gav. 😎👍👍👍🇬🇧💣💥
Neat chassy. I remember it.
I need one of those. Great video

Why is the front suspension weird? No damping? SRB was hardly damped.....

Great video yet again I just got hold of ff01 opel vectra hks new in box
Really tempted to pick one of these up!
It's so much fun to drive and it zooms around on the little silver can 540 motor when its on tarmac.
I think it always surprises people how well the little ORV chassis runs.
It really does. You would never think it as you build it.
Looks good in white on white or you going box art .
Box art on this one.

Ah, gotta love the Tamiya Subaru Brat, one of my all-time favourites!!

Very cool
Does this come with ball bearings?
Nope
Is there going to be a Tamiya Nissan King Cab re release?
That would be a nice build Thanks.
We all keep our fingers crossed but no clue currently.
Sorry,I meant 83 not 87,for the first time I saw the Tamiya catalogue.87 was after I got my Fox,duh!!!!!
Radius arm. Not radium arm.
Did I say radium? LOL sorry about that.
It's radium arm, because they use Radium Springs, which were invented in Georgia. 😄
Make a mudblaster from the polycarbonate body❤️ pleeeeeesssse?
I was thinking something like that. I can get the decals from MCI

Yes I will prime it. I use car paint on hard body cars as its so much cheaper and you have loads of choice.
Nice 👍👏👏👏👏👏🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀😻🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🚀🚀🚀🇺🇸🇧🇷
