I love how modern technology can really shape ideas that go off the beaten track. Only small enthusiasts would come up with an idea like this. Big companies would never. All the 3D printing and recycling tech nowadays makes it possible for small enthusiasts to set up something that can grow into something truly original and cater a niche. Amazing!
This is so cool. Out of my price range but some day I’ll try and get one simply to support such a cool and unique endeavor. Shout out the inventors this is awesome
I could really use this 😮 Peddle into the back country to a favorite lake or river and spend a couple nights right on the water. I definitely see the potential in this. 🤔
One thing with the boating part, if someone is adventuring they might be taking the boat through many different waterways and water locations. Depending where you are in the world, this could be disastrous if you take microbial or small invasive species from one place to the other. Some places require you do a full clean of the hull before moving from one body of water to the other.
I think it would be even cooler if the boat cockpit was for pedaling on the road instead of sitting where you do while pedaling. Something like a VELO Bike.
@_____ You could just as easily “preserve the biking experience” by simply using the sliding roof which they’ve clearly already thought of to get yourself some fresh air while biking.
I'd say my only gripe with is no pedal system to operate it in case of a battery failure, as it seems a bit awkward for using a paddle on. Otherwise, pretty clever design. And depending on how much weight it can handle would be great for just local use to the grocery store and back. Kinda want to do something like that for myself, though definitely would need something besides bike tires for it work right for where I want to use such a thing.

I was thinking that it would be quite awesome if a vehicle like this could pull up to a J-1772 charging station and charge up, just like an electric car would. With these charging stations everywhere, you never run out of range. And the best part is, for a small vehicle like this, you probably wouldn't even need the DC faster chargers - even just plugging in at level 2 would likely be very, very fast.

I think you could definitely widen the hull and add a larger battery and boat motor, and add a gear reduction in the form of an extra gear reduction for the bike for even more leisurely riding and you could potentially take something like that long distances for a more economic price range
This video is brilliant, one of my favourite FC videos ever. Much better than watching Jack cruise around in yet another electric SUV. More of this amphibious buffoonery please. Especially if it involves talking out of vent holes.
I commented almost a month ago; since then, I realized that if the BeTriton gets a variant with a larger camper portion for my 6'1" frame (~2 meters in the Metric school of thought), I'd be much more willing to pay a pretty penny to get one. Still, the BeTriton oozes fun and potential.
Mildly disappointed that you need to manually convert it between land and water modes, particularly that you need to get into the water and fold the wheels up. Something to improve on might be the ability to at least drive up out of the water. Definitely a unique invention though!
Seeing as the back wheels fold up and need attachment, perhaps much smaller cart-like wheels can be built in the bottom of the frame (like a half a wheel out of frame) - ensuring that you can set it up on the land and then back it up in the water - once backed up, the front wheel can be set up and you can get in. On the other hand, the target market for these are travellers that don't mind stepping in water when necessary.
@@thomasfitzpatrick6392 According to their site they actually are air riggers, not solid. You do have to blow them up yourself but so small it would not take long and takes up a lot less space in the vehicle. 14000 euro though so it's not for everyone.
It would likely have to be much wider to prevent tipping then. Seeing as it already barely fit the biking lanes, I don't see that as much a possibility.
No price mentioned. I think I would like an economy version that had the camper but without the boaty bits. Not having the water engine and steering should save both weight and money.
It would be great to see you doing a trip in it, Jack. Maybe you'll even figure out how to sleep in it :D My advice would be to take some blankets or a sleeping bag. That beauty doesn't look all that windtight or insulated to me :D
I think this is Brilliant, if I was 20 years younger and had the money I´d buy one, at least. For an adventurous family, with two of these, you could go practicly anywhere, I love it. 🤠
I've been following the progress of this for ages. I do want something like it, but don't really need the boat part, which I think compromises it's potential somewhat. Pleased to see Jack could fit no worries, even the wrong way round.
Yes, and on the other side of the coin, why not a cycle-chain-drive / human powered propeller backup for boat mode? Running out of battery on the water would be a disaster.
This is great! Honestly been looking for something like this. Hoping future models might include a longer range on the water, say to perhaps make a trek across the Bering straight with a stop on one of the islands half way through. Or maybe make a little detour around the Darian gap. If it were pedal assisted on the water, I believe it would be quite reasonable.
I can see it going remote locations, but it doesn't seem seaworthy, only for lake and calm river crossings. Island hop to Bocas del Toro maybe, no way I'd go out to sea in that thing.
You should take a look at the wild world of transoceanic rowboats. That's as close to this thing as you're going to find that's also seaworthy enough for the Bearing Strait.
I thought it would use the front wheel as a rudder when in boat-mode. Also, would this be really acceptable as an e-bike in a lot of countries when you can't really pedal it easily?
I would have been slightly more impressive if Jack knew how to open it or which way to get in. I guess the boat bit might be useful for river crossings (if there is a ramp), but it doesn't look like you'd want to get very far from shore on a windy day. Not quite sure how useful that is in practice. I suppose the idea is that you can park by a lake somewhere and then go pootling/fishing?
Here in australia, we have a river called the Murray. its long, wide and flat. This would be perfect for travelling along the river. Camp on the banks and use the bike to explore the river towns. You could set up solar panels on the out riggers or even tow floating panels and charge while travelling
I was entertaining the thought of having a trip with a bicycle and a kayak. Towing the kayak on land and losing the bike in there sea. That vehicle is exactly what I would have built for that purpose. I love it.
moment of bragging being Latvian😁 at least You cought this one.. Just missed first Paris Dakar Hybrid, Electric car and Pikes Peak Electric latvian made veichiles..
I believe I read somewhere that the Baltic states are investing in science and technology to be relevant and competitive. If that is true it truly shows and if that isn’t true you have some truly mad and devoted geniuses there!
My first thought is, how is that going to be regulated over here :D I mean do I register it as moped (it has too powerful a motor to be treated as an electric bicycle, 250 W is the limit) or as a boat? I'm guessing it's actually too small a boat to require registration (I think 5,5 m was the limit). But if it's a moped I couldn't drive it on bike lanes except where explicitly allowed. Oh how the car drivers would hate me if I'm on public roads on this :D But I mean, Finland has 57 thousand lakes, and the lake area does also have some nice little roads - this could be a really fun vehicle in this country.
Wow this is amazing. I mean obviously this is just a start but this could be a pathway to something new that could be huge. I would definitely love to have one. I love seeing cool new ideas like this. So awesome !
A fold out umbrella material canopy with a lightweight wire frame might be handy to drive the boat in light rain and compact enough for them to include.

I think you could definitely widen the hull and add a larger battery and boat motor, and add a gear reduction in the form of an extra gear reduction for the bike for even more leisurely riding and you could potentially take something like that long distances for a more economic price range
As funky and questionably practical this is, we NEED inventions like this to push innovation. THIS IS HOW NEW IDEAS ARE MADE
its actually rly nice, imagine everyone having one all would be happy and live their lifes
Instead of solid rigger, air expandable neumatic. Just another button to push
One less thing that won't break though...
This is the best thing I've seen in many days!
Jack, you amphibious buffoon. Keep up the great work. I'm slowly going through your back catalogue of hilarious work and loving every minute of it.
No price mentioned.
I think I would like an economy version that had the camper but without the boaty bits. Not having the water engine and steering should save both weight and money.
The full thing is 14,500 EUR
@@jordanmcgrory2171 😅😅 lol no way
It would be great to see you doing a trip in it, Jack. Maybe you'll even figure out how to sleep in it :D
My advice would be to take some blankets or a sleeping bag. That beauty doesn't look all that windtight or insulated to me :D
I'm only going to get one if it flies too...and it also needs knobs to fiddle with....yeah (actually I think it's brilliant..)
You want a flying RV? Watch this space. Seriously.
It would be neat to make a flying amphibious glider with electric assist.
@@skylerlehmkuhl135 It was meant to be a joke 😆
Never joke online, people run with it.
@@terrafirma9328 sounds like communism!
Awesome, Now I want one.😎👍💯
My wife can fit in it perfectly, but I might need a longer boat camper bike.
I’m sorry, but his legs are so long he just looks so funny! 🤣🤣🤣
Leave my Kermit the Frog physique alone
nice idea but needs a v2 with a single electric motor that can do both, also needs to be able to drive in and drive out of the water
Yes, and on the other side of the coin, why not a cycle-chain-drive / human powered propeller backup for boat mode? Running out of battery on the water would be a disaster.
Just bring some oars
@@eduardoez It comes with optional oars.
Everything about this is adventure, getting in, getting out, sleeping and even converting it into boat seems adventurous 😁😁
You gotta appreciate people coming up with random ideas and making them into reality. =)
I hope you donate a lot to the lifeboats if you think this sort of crap pile is seaworthy
I suppose the idea is that you can park by a lake somewhere and then go pootling/fishing?
i can see it being used on canals/ broads very nicely
Here in australia, we have a river called the Murray. its long, wide and flat. This would be perfect for travelling along the river. Camp on the banks and use the bike to explore the river towns. You could set up solar panels on the out riggers or even tow floating panels and charge while travelling
Id paddle this right across Canada, spend nights on random ponds. Fantastic.
I was entertaining the thought of having a trip with a bicycle and a kayak. Towing the kayak on land and losing the bike in there sea. That vehicle is exactly what I would have built for that purpose. I love it.
nah, should be more streamlined, a recumbent bike that converts to a boat.
Maybe that’s V2, minus the camper bit
All recumbents get to see is the exhaust pipes of cars. This is a view platform for touring
moment of bragging being Latvian😁
at least You cought this one..
No, bro, you're wrong, it's a bike
“Let it sink in” maybe isn’t the best words to say 😂
Weird product, great channel.
I love that crazy thing! Looks like so much fun!
Wow this is amazing. I mean obviously this is just a start but this could be a pathway to something new that could be huge. I would definitely love to have one. I love seeing cool new ideas like this. So awesome !
What can I say....I thought I've seen it all. This is a superb product. I should get one. Only that my wife won't so much a come near it.
Finally, a water world prepper😂 handy in this climate we have lately
Oh man that's cool.. looks really fun honestly
Unbelievable! Fun
Thanks for showing it
Love the chimney-like plant pot 😂❤
Wow! That’s thinking out of the box into the bike or boat 😂 whatever that thing is, soooo cool.
This looks soooo awesome! As an introvert, I'd still get this! I wonder how many of our german traffic laws will prevent this from existing here...
Floating casket from Lithauania😂
It's absolutely ridiculous...
I love it.
Finally something we all need
I would absolutely love one of these!!!
I really dig this thing. This is a one of a kind bike.
A fold out umbrella material canopy with a lightweight wire frame might be handy to drive the boat in light rain and compact enough for them to include.
Simply amazing. Chapeau
The bike itself is cooler than the boat. Would like to see more of those… make it an e- bike while your at it. Very, very cool bike!
I wish the Triton was alittle more affordable for the average income person. This is such an innovation! Im in love
Idk if it will become popular but this is definitely interesting and pretty cool
I absolutely adore this thing and i think i want one now
Brilliant and funny 😅, good luck to that company
