    I've had many requests about using a different way to bake these,
    rather than using the ceramic ramekin molds as you have seen me use in a different video recipe.
    So... today I'm showing you how easy it it to make these using a regular muffin / cupcake tin !
    These molten chocolate cakes are easy, fun, and simply delicious !
    NOTE: This recipe will yield approx 9 chocolate lava cakes.

    I just tried this and it was amazing !!! First time I left one for 5 minutes, I just thought 8 would be too much with my oven. And it turned almost into a complete cake. So then I tried for 4 min for the second time and it worked !!!!
    Thanks a load for this recipe, I very much wanted to make lava cakes, but every time something went wrong. But this time it worked !!!!! 😃 😃 😃 Thanks again !

    Jamie Choi Hi Jamie, I'd let them cool, then cover lightly with plastic wrap, they are small enough to put into individual zip lock baggies also. So cool, then wrap or into plastic bags and into the fridge. They reheat nicely in the microwave when you wish to eat them the next day etc. Thanks for watching Jamie, and glad the turned out great for you !

    Omg! These were perfect! I tried last weekend and I'm gonna make another batch this weekend. But I could only make 6 not 9. I just do not like the grainy texture of the liquid, i guess that is because of the eggs.
    But the taste was fantastic and everybody loved it.

    Thank you so much! They turned out perfect. Some tips for people doing it for the first time, if you don't have salted butter just use unsalted butter with 1 teaspoon of salt, if you don't have vanilla extract it will be just fine without it, and instead of 8 minutes start at 7 minutes and 30 seconds then make sure to watch the lava cakes. I stopped my oven timer at around the 3-2 minute mark.

    Hi Ah Steph, I use semi-sweet which are darker, so there is a big difference there. You may had a tablespoon or 2 of cocoa powder to the recipe also if you wish, and yes, if you find it thin again, add a bit more flour. I use large eggs in all my recipes unless otherwise stated. I'm glad you tried it out and they turned out ok :-)

    Hi, I tried the recipe in cupcake holders. I think I had to leave them in for only 6min because 8min baked it totally through but even besides there being no melted chocolate in the centre, the family absolutely loved it. Can only imagine how much they're going to love it when I get the timing right. Thank you very much.

    • @BakeLikeAPro
      @BakeLikeAPro  9 років тому

      Ernica Stanford Hi Ernica, yes, once you get that timing right, you will be amazed :-) Make sure once you do, to write it down on a piece of paper, and keep it handy. Make sure you use the same temp too, and once you get that timing right, you'll always get the same results. Take note also of how much you filled each one - that can change the timing too, but not by much if you are filling them about 3/4 way up on each cupcake holder. I'm glad you tried it, and thanks for watching too :-) If you ever try them again, please post a picture on my Facebook page so I can see one of them :-) facebook.com/BakeLikeAPro

      +Anjana Prasad This to me sounds like the chocolate lava cakes were almost 100% baked. This also tells me that your oven was too low. The lower the oven temperature means a more even baking, slower baking which allows the middle to bake. You want a higher temperature so that the lava cakes are more "shocked" ... they get baked on the outside faster, but you take them out before they can fully bake in the middle. If you are not located in North America, you may have an oven that has both a bottom and upper element that you can turn off or on..... both the upper and lower elements must be on for this to work correctly. ( In North America ) all ovens bake with both upper and lower element ON, - we do not have the choice to turn on or the other off. We do have a function called "broil" where we can brown a food item very quickly where only the upper element oven element is on, and does not go off. This browns or broils something very quickly, but you can burn foods very quickly too. I'm guessing you did not have both elements on, or - your oven was not hot enough.

    If i use milk chocolate chips for this instead of semi sweet or dark chocolate chips, do i need to add in sugar because the milk chocolate chips have plenty of sugar already

    • @BakeLikeAPro
      @BakeLikeAPro  8 років тому

      Hello, if you are using dark chocolate, you can add extra sugar, it depends on the cocoa content in the chocolate you are using. A chocolate that has 90% cocoa ( dark chocolate ) will be very bitter and will need some extra sugar added. I have a playlist here, that shows me using dark chocolate in a chocolate lava cake recipe. ua-cam.com/play/PL0Ou--_FP5T5HToBLIRh4y2YfnonVOJSb.html

    Ohhhh, I love, love, loved this. I just made it with both a ramekin and a muffin tin. I liked it much better with the muffin tin because the portion size was just right. Way too much chocolate for me in that ramekin--Anyway, this is a super simple recipe, I got it right on my first shot and calling me a beginner baker is generous. I used some raspberry chocolate chip gelato on the side, topped it with a few raspberries, and it was the perfect dessert.

    just made them! The 2 test cakes came out perfect lol and then the actual batch of 6, 3 seemed to come out good and then the other 3 must not have got done all the way or something because they were leaking out the bottom pretty bad....which I had no problem with them sticking at all....with the butter and coco lining in the tin worked amazing. Think I needed to leave full batch for just another 40-50 seconds.....These are def time sensitive and time needs to be precise! Taste amazing, super easy and will be a hit with the family for dessert. I will be making these in the future for sure.

    • @BakeLikeAPro
      @BakeLikeAPro  8 років тому

      +kdub8742 Hi there, oh good to hear ! I'm very glad you had success, and yes ! they are so time sensitive. Also, as an oven stays on longer, it does seem to retain more heat, so an oven that pre-heats to correct temp, and you bake something right away, - you will actually have that same cake bake faster, if you try it 15 minutes later, and this is just because the interior of the oven has really absorbed a lot more heat. Anyway, I'm glad it worked for you, thanks for coming back to let me know :-)

    omg! These are amazingly AwEsOmE! Made them yesterday! The video recipe made 9, mine only yielded 8 (which should have clued me in on a slightly longer cooking time, as my muffin tin was larger)... thus my cakes had a bit more lava (uncooked cake yumminess) and were not quite as firm, But overall FABULOUS! My boyfriend said it was the BEST Lava Cake he has ever eaten! Sure beats the store bought ones (if you are lucky enough to find them in stores!) Thank you so much for this recipe! ♥

    Hi John, where I live butter comes in little blocks, and it is marked on the package. If you ever add a tablespoon too much butter, don't ever say it's a mistake... it's a good thing :-) Weighing your ingredients is by far the most accurate way to replicate a recipe, that's why all bakeries and pastry shoppes weigh ingredients, that way a recipe never changes. My tutorials are based on what most people have available to them, and so I must measure ingredients by volume.
