+Meliana Ventrice how many grams is the butter? thanks
+siti nur safika thats 113 grams :)
wonderfully done
I know it's going on a year now, but with chocolate cakes I always dust my bakeware with cocoa powder. It works just as well and there's no chance of flour spoiling the look of the chocolate cake.
Drkjk, what an awesome idea. Thanks! I've got just the cake for that Coco Powder!
That's what i do too! I don't know why most don't think of that and now why i'm typing this it hit me! and it hurt too Ooch! lol because most dust their cakes with powdered sugar i think that's why!
Good idea .. will try next time 👍
The trick with the tongs is so handy!! :D
FINALLY THE PERFECT RECIPE!!!! I have tried so many lava cake recipes before but THIS one wins the prize. just made it and it turned out A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. the texture of outer cake was soft and spongy and the lava was gooey and deliciously chocolaty. love it and gonna make it again and again and again!!!
Hi.mam can u tell me how much gram the one stick butter content?n the oven tempareture in centigrade?in this.video Thomas said 2 t sp of flour but there is written 2tbl sp.
I don't even like baking or eating dessert, but I love playing these videos for Thomas's soothing way of explaining things and voice. I like that you don't overact and make loud noises to get our attention. Good job!
Thank you so much for this wonderful recipe. I love how you explain every step and give measurements of the ingredients as you go. I halved this recipe to see if I'd figure out a way to screw this up, like i do other recipes, but these turned out perfectly. I was so happy. Now if i can perfect my buttercream. Thanks again!
I tried it and it was amaaaaaaaaaazing :D
You can also add cocoa powder to make it look darker and vanilla for the eggs.
I could not find ramekins so I used foil cups and they totally worked too.
That is a pretty desert and I'm sure full of flavor.
Thank you Thomas Joseph! I baked this molten lava cake for my mom's birthday. She loved it! We all loved it! Thanks a lot!
Thank you very much for this wonderful recipe! I followed all your instructions and it turned out just the same as you described! I have never achieved such success in cooking from the first try! Thanks a lot! Highly recommended!
I wish this video also gives notes for people who use metric system...
Nao you can google it, y'know..

Someone in the comments posted it
hell no And go through the extra trouble? C'mon, almost every country uses the metric system.
1 stick of butter... I mean... I thought I was trippin
For this i changed the ingredients a bit (by accident) and it still came out great:
3 medium eggs
100g sugar
2 and half tbspoon of flour
100g of dark chcolate
100g of butter
and i didnt have any ramekins so I just filled cupcake cases up and it worked fine!
oh and bake for 9 min
What temperature did you use

Ingredients
4 ounces of Semi sweet chocolate (54%cocoa)
1 stick of butter(½ inch cubes)
2 egg yolks(RoomTemp)
2 whole eggs(Room Temp)
1/4 cup of sugar
2 tsp all purpose flour, plus a bit for dusting the ramekins
Preparation
Oven preheated to 450 Fahrenheit, 7-8 minutes
Cut chocolate with serrated knife
Cut butter 1/stick into half inch cubes
Add chocolate to double broiler and then add butter Melt together stirring occasionally until nicely blended. Once melted turn off the heat. You Do not want the chocolate to get too hot remove from heat once melted wiping the bottom of the bowl to remove any excess moisture.
In a separate bowl beat together Eggs(2 Yolks and 2 Whole Eggs) and Sugar Whip them up on Medium speed.
4 Oz Ramekins brushed with softened butter. Dust with flour. Then discard excess flour and give ramekin a good tap upside down to remove any excess flour (Tip I used Cocoa Powder instead of flour it works Wonderfully and tastes better than flour. )
Once Egg mixture has almost Tripled in Volume Then Reduce the speed Slightly then slowly pour the Melted Chocolate into Egg Mixture while it still beats in the Mixer.
Then Scrape side of bowl to evenly incorporate mixture and add 2 Teaspoons of All Purpose Flour. And Gently Stir together until incorporated.
Put about 3 Oz of mixture into the 4 Dusted Ramekins
Cook for about 7-8 min longer they cook less molten they will be.
(Tip can be refrigerated while in liquid form before cooking just bring them up to room temp before cooking them)
To Serve Remove from oven. Then using a pair of tongs covered in a paper towel secured to the tong with a pair of rubber bands, place a plate on top of the Ramekin and flip the cake out. The tongs help with the gripping of the ramekin.
thnak you
Pls make a video about mirror glazed cakes! Thank you! :)
I've been looking for molten cakes all day to make for grand daughters birthday, I wanted to make it and wait before cooking, but not one video I viewed said if it was possible. I found you at the last minute, and you answered my question. Thanks, the video was very easy to follow.
Brilliant, thank you ,mate.I've been struggling to make those for a while now ,but in the end it ended up magnificently thanks to your guidance !
Wow!
when you're flouring the ramekins, you should use half flour half cocoa powder(not hot chocolate powder btw). it gives a darker, richer colour when you turn them out.
I think they don't because they ( most people ) put powdered sugar on it anyway but i use the cocoa powder too! and i don't sprinkle powder sugar on mine.
I am so much thankful❤️😭 i have been trying this since years😅 but couldn’t make it like i wanted😭 you are amazing! Can’t thank you enough! Thank you chef😘 you’re a blessing! Guys just do as he says! I've got a kitchen conundrum ( i think) ; which citrus to use ? I've seen many lemons and limes and don't know if they affect flavour?
LOL Mio, did you figure it out yet?
very informative and good presentation as always ..Thank you for sharing your ideas
I made tried this recipe today! came out sooo good! I kept a couple in the fridge to see how that goes later ;)

Show how to make the perfect baked potato. Crispy and salty on the outside and fluffy on the inside....... Mmmmmmmmm.
Eileen LeValley stab it with a fork all around so the inside cooks and then wrap in plastic wrap and microwave it
Thomas joseph... you are a legend my man !!!
Never been disappointed by these videos :) Thanks!
Can you coat the ramekins in cocoa powder instead of flour? 😅
or powdered sugar for a slight crisp on the outside ;) that's what i did :)
The best is a mixture of cocoa and sugar ;)
BlowikCZ and bit of cinnamon powder. 😬
Emily Henford y not for even chocolate flavour ryt😆
Emily Henford yes! You could probably use powdered sugar too
what're some other pans I could bake this in? would a muffin pan work?
tanya gupta thanks!
Angel Su did it work?
i was just searching some cake to do and i find these its beautiful and simple thanks
I have made this twice so far. Depending on how big ur ramekin is changes how much time u should leave it in the oven. I use a smaller ramekin (the clear glass one) and leaving it in for 8 min was perfect.
Also I added a piece of Hershey’s milk chocolate in the center and it became even better. 10/10 recommend.
Very easy recipe. Will be testing more things to put in the center. I’m thinking next to put either caramel or white chocolate.
*Question* Can this be baked in silicon cupcake moulds as well?
Kelllsey how did the silicon cupcake moulds work out? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thomas, husband goals 😍

Q Nizami loool
sorry, i dont think that he is into women
smithwick1710 Lol
Thank you so much♡ i made this and it turned out amazing
Love your show! So helpful and easy to follow
My question about the origin of this recipe,
I really want to know
Is it the real recipe or , the other one when you have to insert a frozen piece of chocolate ganache inside the cake ?
This is the real one
This is the actual recipe, which was invented due to an accident *groan*
I was just about to ask the same thing. Lol. I think I'd prefer the frozen ganache better than eating the raw batter cause you could use any chocolate you want. I'm gonna attempt to do both types of cakes to see which is easier.
One stick of butter is 1/2 cup right
Yes
+Maki Garza how much in grammes please?
+Achraf Bensal in grammes it's 115
+Maki Garza thank you
Yes
It was sooo good thank you so much for the recipe

first time trying. made a great batch! thanks a lot :)
I'll never lose weight, I am determined!
can you show us how to make popcorn on the stove without burning it. Please n Thank you :)
Casie Richards I heat my butter and oil first and than I add my popcorn and salt to the pan and put the lid on and once it starts to pop I take it off the stove for 30 seconds than back on the stove and keep shaking pan continuously until popcorn slows down in popping and then turn the stove off and put popcorn into a bowel I learnt that on this page on the Internet
Casie Richards Kkkkkkk
Turns out perfect thanks a million
Clear, good explanation of possible pitfalls.
In the words of Chef Carl Casper
"Chocolate lava cake is not just undercooked chocolate cake. That's not what makes the center molten. You take a frozen cylinder of ganache, and set it the ramekin... so as the outside cooks fully, the inside becomes molten!"
Ghost 0311 “It’s f@cking molten, you a$$hole!”
LOL! I was looking for someone to reference Chef! Well done!
I've heard these molten cakes should be eaten soon after baking. It can not be made in advance, is this true?
It is true. The chocolate on the inside has to be hot. I strongly suggest that you add vanilla ice cream instead of the whipped cream. You won't wish for another desert if you try it like this. :)
Erin S. According to me Thomas means that you can make the batter ahead of time and then bake it off when you need to.
Erin S.; when he said you can make them in advance, he was talking about the batter. He said you could prepare the batter and pour it into the cups ahead of time, and simply refrigerate until you're ready to bake them
Dwight Howard and A Hassan, yes I heard him say that. I'm talking about after making them. I've had these lava cakes in restaurants before and was told that they need to be ordered with plenty of time ahead and eaten right away. They also won't sell it for take out orders. I am curious if this recipe was on the same lines as it needing to be eaten right away to enjoy the cake the way it is intended.
Erin S. Yes, as it will continue cooking in the ramekin and the lava centre will be gone if you leave it in for too long.
This is yum! I'd love to make on on Valentine's day!
totally great! Thanks for sharing ~
isnt it just uncooked in the middle?
Yes an that is what special about molten chocolate cake :) but due to the very high temperature, the eggs are cooked and its safe to eat
No, it is cooked but it's not baked. That's what gives the molten texture. It's almost like chocolate cream.
Thank you for clarifying that. I was concerned about the eggs.
It supposed to be like that.. Goey inside that's why it's called lava cake.
Its actually not supposed to be done that way. It should be molten because you are supposed to put a frozen chunk of ganache in the center before baking so that it melts and makes it molten.
He looks like lea michele :p
Haha! Yeah, he does :p
you make it look so easy! thank you!
Looks good inspire me to try on it .!
What about a domino's lava cake? Somehow those lava cakes are kinda crunchy and crispy with a really fudgy inside.
They line it with butter and sugar. Whipped cream consistency butter, brush a thick amount onto your ramekins, and put sugar in the ramekin to cover it all. Roll and let excess fall on a plate as you so. Repeat the sugar part. This should give a crispy exterior and fishy inside. This reply is 4y late but i hope it helps someone!!
I want egg less molten lava cake... pls pls pls....
Param Rajguru Use apple sauce as a substitute. its probably. a different amount. i dont know it off the top of my head.
Param Rajguru you needs the eggs to give it structure. maybe Google will have a eggless version
You can check out home cooking adventure "eggless lava cake"
Mel Jenkins *B O N E L E S S*
You could use chia seeds mixed with water or flax seeds
Thank you, best explained , short and easy : ))

Just ome thing i hate about cooking show. When the host not fully use the ingredient or batter. Scoup out using spatula, what a waste
You don't know what he did with the rest, jackass. He used the scoop so he could actually measure it. He could've saved the batter or ended up scraping the rest of it into the four afterwards.
+itseffinsexxitime could I do this with white chocolate
+Maanzila siddique I just asked a question who are you and how would you know stay in your lane thank you
Aki Ta this is about a food waste. But this me, how i view the whole video. It will look more satisfy when to see
you know what they say. what you see is what you get with these cooking shows.
What if I'm an asshole and I use salted butter, is it gonna explode?
+JegErN0rsk dang it. :(
This looks awesome and easy!!
I love this guy he makes everything seems simple
Last time I made this I put too much egg in so it tasted like an omelette. It also exploded in the oven.
that means you scrambled the eggs
that chocolate looks like blood
Great video Thomas. Loved it
Once again! Great teaching!!!
How about solving your kitchen conundrums using a SCALE
Do you have a book? I love how you give simple but understandable explanation about ratio of ingredients.
great tips thankyou
You are adorable! Great recipe...thank you!
I have tried it... its super duper recipe 😍😘😘😘😘
Thanks for the great tutorial. I was wondering if you can make a tutorial on French crepes and how to make them right thickness and consistency. Thanks!
