AMD Radeon was going overkill with VRAM before it was necessary.
Kind of worked out for them.
290x had an 8gb model
That's why I like AMD
@@TechLabUK hi! would you suggest this graphics card to someone who just wants to play 1080p AAA titles and also emulated games (from devices such as PS3 and nintendo switch)?
@@reversicle212Hi, I am running one of those in an old Thinkstation p510 I bough dirt cheap (like less than 80 USD cheap) off of eBay. I got a 14c CPU in it clocked at around 2.6 ghz (mostly running about 3.2 ghz), 64GB of RAM and using Linux. I get around 45 to 50 fps in Cyberpunk on high settings with resolution scaling quality preset on ultra. So yeah. More than usable in 2024. As long as the CPU is not the bottleneck, this card still performs like a charm. FYI: I have the sapphire rx580 non nitro and would suggest you to go for a similar, higher end rx580 with a beefier cooling solution.
I am so proud of the Ryzen 5 2600 Rx580 16gb build it's holding up so well it's unreal I will keep it as it is, a reminded of great times.
I literally have the same build as you but mine doesn't post :(((((
I bought a "broken" rx 580 8gb saphire nitro for 15$ because the owner said it didn't work when he started his pc, when it arrived it worked for me the first time I placed but it was full of artifacts, I switched its bios from the gpu and voilla the gpu was working flawlessly. Best 15$ that I could have spent 👍👍
Teach me how to do this
@@maxyshacky44 some gpus come with a switcher that is usually near power connectors, you just simply have to press that switch and restart in order to change to its other bios, thats all pretty much, hope it helps
I have the XFX RX 580 XXX Edition and currently playing games like Diablo 4, Palia, Dead By Daylight, Tekken 8, Street Fighter 6, and Lost Ark with no issues.
I found a reeeaaally good deal for a 1070 ti for 100$ but someone snagged it so the 580 was the next best thing, lower power consumption and noise level was a big plus!
The RX 580 is a mid range beast! Currently playing RE 4 Remake at high settings with no issues at all. Everything works smoothly!
Does it have overheating issue? Pls respond, im trying to choose between rx 580 and gtx 1650
@gabrielnugraha5393 bro just go and buy 1650
how does it perform in apex rn?
@@crn44really good
@@gabrielnugraha5393get rx 5500xt it costs similar to rx 580 and has performance like gtx 1660
At around $60 new, chinese RX 580s are pretty much the only graphics cards I've been using for budget builds. They legitimately outperform cards that cost twice as much or more on the used market.
where do you get cards like that? I assume you mean bootleg cards unless there are alot of official Chinese rx 580s. Would it be worth buying for a mid range pc and does it have good driver support?
Buy the aisurix one brother i bought mine early this year been using it since then and i have no issue
@@recavlogs3733no overheating issue? And how about the electrical consumption of this card?
@@Agent-ie3uv as far as i am using it, i didn't encouter any overheating issue. I played both the spiderman games in mid settings and the other ps4 games ported to pc and it works fine i also do some 3d stuff in zbrush and works on me too in terms of power i didn't really check it so i don't have an idea about lol. Tho I don't know if they still have the one month warranty and 1week full ref and replacement. for its price and when you're in budget its a good card in my country it's 85 dollars including shipping fee which is for me was a good deal.
Yes these rx 580 8gb 2048 sp deals are amazing, best value even today, with this card you get vrr support as well and it is working very very well for the price
I love my RX 580. It's showing it's age now but still not bad for a spare machine or super budget setup.
I juuuuuust replaced my RX580 with a 6700. Happy. Nice price right now.
The rx 580 aged way better than the GTX 1060 for even less money.
My brother still uses an RX 590 and it's crazy how well it runs today.
Was going to get an RX 590 but chose this one instead. What model do they have?
@@TechLabUKthe Sapphire Nitro with the blue shroud and LEDs. Looks stunning!
@@Two49 Nice! I believe the blue ones are special editions. Pretty cool.
@@TechLabUKif you do get an rx590, whatever you do, dont get the XFX Fatboy, lots of overheating and performance issues.
the fact that its even talked about 6+ years latter as still a capable card is note worthy.
Funnily enough I bought my rx580 8GB back in the mining days and it was still cheaper than the comparitive nvidea cards. Still plays my games fine so I'm happy with it :)
RX 480 8GB, 580 8GB and the 590 are indeed legendary.
If you look at the current market, there's not a lot of budget udgrade options, even to this day.
Only RX 6600, 6600XT 6650XT, RX7600 and RTX 3050 8GB, offer any actual upgrade.
Anything beyond that (RTX 3070/4070 or RX 6700 and above) are deffo upgrades as well, but then you're starting to break the bank, for most people.
Further... you can get two RX 6650XTs for the price of one 3070 or 6750XT
And only get a 20-25% increase in performance.
I still use this in my backup PC alongside a Ryzen 5 2600x, it's a terrific card.
That's my gaming pc, lol
Will be interesting to see how well it does with FSR 3, I bet it will expand its life even further.
I upgraded to a 6700XT, but still have the Nitro+ RX 580 all boxed up somewhere in the house. It was a legend!
First modern GPU I ever bought and still running in one of my PCs. Will definitely go down as one of the best cards ever released by AMD.
They need to do it again and stop messing around.
@@TechLabUKRX 6600 is the next "RX580"
@@KS-zx5yb The RX 6600 is a great GPU and at real good prices now.
i'd say RX6700 with 12Gb VRAM would be a good candidate;
@@moonbindtrue, although the price is quite steep, the performance is no slouch
You really got a GEM of all rx580s!!!🤯 My card performs at stock speed well above 80C, eventhough I have 4 case fans and my 12400f barely hits 70 under full load.
I got mine in april last yr for 50$. Picked a pulse before that but had to return it bcoz it was mined on heavily and couldn't hold core clock. However the XFX one (GTS) also had overheating issues but held it's clock even at mid 80C lol but had to undervolt and underclock it to 1266/990mV and now it barely goes over 70C and lost only 3-4% the performance but as an electronics technician I know that other than 40-50w less pwr consumption, far less produced heat can prolong the card's life by a lot!
What an awesome budget king. I had it up until a few months ago when I bought an rx 5700xt for $190
Still an awesome card. I play starfield at 1080p+ on high, and it works great some problems with shadows but fixed them with a mod :)
I've had mine for six years sapphire nitro+ 8gb and I'm in no rush to upgrade it
Really a nice card even in 2023
And with some undervolting ( you could save up to 20 watts or even more ) will make it quiet and colder and live longer
i still have a gtx 1080 , 1080ti , rtx 2080ti , rtx 3080 and now im on a Rtx 4090..
@@adamtajhassam9188 nice collection bro
I think undercoating is a must for this card 🐣🐣🐣
@@adamtajhassam9188 I still have an rx 580, 1060 3gb (bought used for a server), a Vega 56, 1080ti hybrid, 3060ti, 6700xt, and 6800xt. Too many cards. :D I've been on the fence about a 7900xt or xtx but just can't convince myself to pay that much anymore for gaming and am challenging myself to spend some time gaming on a 24" curved 1080p monitor with the rx 580 for a bit, seeing what I can squeeze out of it, and learning my way around a Linux Garuda setup, as well. :D I'd love a 4090, but it'd come at too much a sacrifice for me, though I'm glad for those who can afford them if they can get them for close enough to msrp, as they are a great card also in price-to-performance.
been using an 750ti for a long time along side an fx 6300. Finally upgrading to am5 and since i am kinda short of budget i will sell an r9 280x i happen to have to buy an rx580 for a kinda "free" upgrade till i buy something completely new
I was using the Nitro+ up until just recently. Upgraded to a RX 6600 XT Red Devil. It served me well.
An awesome upgrade. The RX 6600 feels like the next step from the RX 580 to me.
Having an RX 580 myself, am wondering if it can somehow run Starfield? thinking about playing that when it releases.
Was thinking it would've been nice to include the 2048sp version of the RX580 to rate with, but then again people are saying it's basically an OC'd RX570
I have an XFX 580 - Its in the box and staying with me, along with my PRECIOUS: AMD Ryzen 1600 AF. Alive and Kicking: Great song
Still have my rx580 and installed it at my old i7 4790 and still rocks! Not for only for games but sometimes I use it for video editing..
That's awesome. Love to hear how some of this older kit is still running.
i've still using that i7 4790 and the rx580 8gb and the performance is very good.
I have one, it's been great, but doesn't last very long running Starfield before my pc shuts down. Sad that I'm probably gonna have to part ways soon.
I'm still using an ASUS RX 580 OC 4GB paired with a 4th Gen i5. Mostly I play modded Skyrim SE or FO4 at a solid 60FPS. I don't think it's going to cope too well with Starfield though...
If I want to change from rx580 but other changes I have on the table. Not costl? And also I need a bigger memory
Still have Ryzen 5 2600 and RX 580, but im saving up to upgrade both, had to change thermal paste and pads on GPU cause it was always hitting 90 C
I have the same components from 2019. I upgraded in June to a R5 5600 and a XFX RX 7600 to match my 2K monitor.
I have an Rx580 and an i5 9400f I’m going to upgrade the memory and ram in it but it stills runs pretty well I built the pc like 5 or 6 years ago I have the 8 GB MSI one
Good GPU. I bought mine at the end of 2017 and used it until this year (2023) and it worked well. I upgraded it to a Radeon RX 6650 XT. I play at a resolution of 1080p, 72Hz. With an Intel i5 8600 CPU, 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD.
A good upgrade tbh. The 6600/6650XT's are great cards.
If you got yourself a rx480/580 make sure that you renew the thermal paste
Undervolt it via the driver (some go as low as 950mV - usually its about 1050mV)
Overclock its RAM since polaris is a little bit memory starved
Enable smart access memory via registry key
Keep an eye on memory usage with in game settings
Use FSR2/3 and enjoy gaming!
can you guide me how I can do that with my sapphire rx 480 please?

Also to add, replace the thermal pads on the memory chips especially if you have a sapphire model. It can prevent a lot of crashes stemming from memory modules overheating, especially when you crank up the resolution in older titles!
@@nealkashyaVery good tip indeed, I bought mine used and was crashing after a few minutes of gaming. Changing the thermal pads fixed that.
The RX 580 is the little engine that could. I have a XFX version that's pretty decent for the value.
I can barely run csgo2 on low settings. Any suggestions?
bought one to make a budget pc gaming. 130eur for a hp i74790 16gb ram ddr3 250ssd and another 50eur for rx580 plus 40eur 600w power supply and a 6eur cable adaptor (stupid hp board connectors)
idle power of rx580 is 17watts which is still high, is there any way to lower it?

Just finished playing Final Fantasy Intergrade at 4K 30fps, totally smooth, no hiccups, 1080/1440 ran at 60ish no problem.
Just installed one in my pc. Works great
Will not give up this card yet great for dcs flight sim no problem on full settings
In 2019 I bought my Ryzen 5 2600 for $119 and my RX 580 GTS black ed. for $169. The same price to performance today would cost $400-$500.
I own a Sapphire Nitro+ RX 570 4GB which I bought used in April 2019 for €95 and mainly used for several years. Today I use an RX 6800.
💪
I still have still Card RX 580 8GB paired with Ryzen 5 2600x with 16GB. Honestly this might sound outdated specs to all of you, but for me. This specs still run games well above 80fps on 1080p high settings. Got me throught my first year of college doing Media, and to this day it still runs well.
Sounds awesome to me. If it does the job then it's a win.
in TLOU i prefer med settings high text FSR Q and you will get a smooth 35fps and AVG of 44fps
My friend has a rx 580 it just stopped working a month ago after he shocked it by accident still pretty good he said
Nice pick up mate! I got the 4GB Pulse version recently, it's performing not too badly👀
You had to buy version 8G
@@tarekxx777 I only got it for a project for my channel. It was overheating and I got it for £35
To compensate for performance, usually I set the card to medium or low setting. As long as it can play, I'm happy with it. Just received a used Nitro+ card for my rig made out of used components. Might upgrade the rig again to AM4 or LGA 1151 system in the near future but right now, my PC game needs were fulfilled.
Yes, had to tweak some things on some of the more modern game but the card is still a trooper. What rig are you currently running?

Mow neighbors yards or any type of yard work they (smarter to to stop at houses in which an older individual lives as they will most likely be seeking outside help anyway) would allow you to do. There is always a manual labor job out there to be done. Though you won’t get paid what you put into it still your that much closer to an upgrade.
I have rx570 8gb nitro+ imagine where I stand with these games. 😢
I'm just waiting for an SSD to finish a side pc with an I5-9500, a MSI Z370 motherboard, 16 GB of ram and a RX 580. Just need to install STEAM and see how good or bad it is.
Sounds like an awesome system. Hope you have fun gaming because it will sure do it!

I bought a sapphire special edition (the blue one) for only 75$!(~£62/€71)
how many years that vga can hold on? i want to buy that😅
I got one since 2020, all maintenance and all, it's dying and battling so hard to even get GTA O over 10FPS stable
Legendary card for sure.
Ive had my rx 580 for 3 years now and its still running great.
Hello! That 4gb RX580series has RGB or not?
The on in the video is an 8GB RX 580. It does have lighting on the side, the logo lights up but not sure if the colour can be changed.
I got a 580 Special Edition yesterday 😁
what's your opinion on those "refurbished mining card" like rx 580 aisurix, should i avoid those?
I have no real opinion tbh. I know others who have used / tested them and they say they are fine but I haven't myself.
what is a good upgrade here when i want a bedder one ?
From a 580 the minimum upgrade IMO should be an RX 6600.
my card has some display issues, sometimes display goes off or machine getting restarted/ or else display comes back after 10 to 15 secs. it is not at all showing my bios screen, directly goes to windows login screen. what could be the problem...?? shall I replace the thermal paste and pads ?? its been 5 yrs since I bought this card.
Re-thermal pasting could help, you could try a full DDU and Driver Reinstall as well just in case.
Is the 2304 core model or 2048? Either way thank you.
I have no idea but now you ask I will look into it :)
is it fine if i pair up rx 580 with my i5 3470?
It will work. Never done it myself so unsure if there will be a bottleneck or anything.
Is this good for streaming too?
As with everything depends on expectations and quality. Can you stream on it? Sure, no reason why you couldn't. I used to stream Valve games on a Ryzen APU and it was fine.
I'm still In love with my rx570 8gb 5 display out
A few months late, but I recently bought a brand new rx 580 for $90 (US) so roughly what you paid for your used one 8 months ago.
I’m using an RX 590, I play every esports game there is on 80-150+ fps. I don’t think I need any upgrade since I only have a 75hz monitor. Considering the price:performance ratio, RX 590 is the true kind of budget GPUs.
so i just got the rx 580 & what windows & drivers do you download on it help please
The RX 580 will work with both Windows 10 and 11 so depends on what OS you want to use. For drivers, they are still supported by AMD so the latest from the AMD website.
Can't get mine to run spider man oblast official ati drivers...

I am still using Sapphire Nitro RX 590 8GB in 2023
any suggestion for a rx580 build for a room to upgrade later on?
Depends on how far of an upgrade you want. Best place for upgrade future now would be AM5 so with an RX 580 something like a Ryzen 5 7600, B650 Motherboard and 16/32 GB DDR5
@@TechLabUK i was looking for something like 6600xt for the future

i am trying to add egpu to my laptop with i3 11th gen and 16 gigs of ddr4 ram
is it a good upgrade ?
will there be any issues??
Many people use RX 580's in eGPUs so it should work (Depending on the eGPU unit you have) and I suspect it should be a big upgrade over the GPU in the laptop already especially if it is just the iGPU in the CPU.
bought like 7-8 rx570 580 for my rigs spread around the house so I can watch youtube everywhere I go.
Mine died completely i tried everything not displaying on screen at all
What is the difference between saphire and the normal one?
saphire looks better and have better cooling also i thik argb on side changeable with trixx software
Hi guys I have the same model of this RX580, is it normal if the fan loud at 3xxx rpm? And even after gaming session, the fan still spin at 3xxx rpm without slowing down
Doesn't sound normal but I suppose it depends on how hot the GPU is. The fan should slow down when it gets cooler, if it isn't then it's not right.
Using the Strix 580 OC
Still using my Sapphire Nitro+ 470 8gb here (identical board and cooler too), bought it at launch in august 2016. so that means its now 7 years old!
To my shock have been playing Death Stranding at 4k with it and playable (amd control center saying 43fps average) so amazingly impressed by that.
It's a model not to forget as it is from the same family, same die, with slightly cut core/cu count.
The problem with this card is the power consumption 185watts while gtx 1050ti is 75watts only
Can it be pair with the Ryzen 5 5600G or ryzen 5 7600? Im tryna make a pc myself and im still debating on which i want
Yes, would pair with the 5600G fine. The 7600 would most likely give you some CPU headroom for GPU upgrade later on.
I think I'll go with the 7600 then, now I've gotta switch the motherboard
@@thegoldenphoenix3710 Yes, if it's within budget go for the 7600 as the AM5 platform will last a lot longer.

@@thegoldenphoenix3710 The GPU will be the limiting factor in the build.
I just bought a SHOWKINGS 8GB Radeon RX 580 Video Card. This has gotta be the best one of all.
The thing about AMD cards is AMD keeps making older cards better and better via FSR, while NVIDIA locks new features away on new hardware, so the old cards are immediately worse than newer ones. The RX580 supports FSR 2.1 and will likely support FSR3, meaning if you’re comfortable with (for example) the performance of a Steam Deck, you can build an inexpensive desktop that has nearly double the performance and still game comfortably.
actually bought one cause my rx 6600 died. Just an emergency gpu till i can buy a new one in christmas

Depending on the exact i5 you have it should work fine.

How was this difficult to find? They're all over AliExpress and eBay.
They "were" difficult to find due to the GPU crisis / mining. Everyone wanted them and if you could even find one it was an insane price.
