Just one thing: rename your date to $YY_$MM_$DD . That way the folders are always in order. Otherwise 05_05_17 is between 05_04_18 and 05_06_18 while it is a year older.
We all knew this day would come. Chad got clever and blurred his Windows Explorer sidebar. Now how are we gonna find out about super-secret future plugins?
Great timing...I just finished so big project that I went out of naming conventions and stuff...only if I have watched it earlier...Thanks, great stuff!!!
Thank you Chad for this tutorial! This pluggin and way of working is priceless.. I love it. This is so sad that you can't save your render passes from octane with Tokens though!
@@Greyscalegorilla Wish it was included or free though. Cineversity wants $300 subscription for a year just so we can use the CV-toolbox update to the R20 release which has the updated version of tokens. Maxon must have negotiated a deal with them lol.
Love this workflow and have been using it since the video first came out! Too bad I don't have access to CV tokens though, but there are some workarounds if you let Xpresso/Python rename your camera according to the current date.
hey Chad, thank you for the hint. was just wondering if there is a way to stuck on one folder when rendering an animation. I used ../../07_Sequences/From3d/$prj/$cvRenderer/$YY$MM$DD_$hh-$mm/$prj and got one folder per picture Is there a way to use a timestamp from the start of the rendering?
It always works fine for me with the beauty passes, and even works with a single multi pass, but I can’t get it to work with direct AOV outputs, which is necessary for things like Cryptomatte. If I use the time tokens with Cryptomatte I’m getting that same behavior with a single frame per folder, which is pretty annoying.
Issue: If you are rendering a sequence - your files will be in different folders because of time token. Is there any option to RENDER START TIME token?
tested it with RS render + AOV enabled. If AOV disabled - its ok. But looks like AOV rendering is seperate process, so its create another folders etc. Btw, thanks for RS videos!
@@iKapustin Thanks! Had same issue. Only thing is Cryptomatte seems to force direct output. Have you figured out using tokens/redshift with cryptomatte aov?
Dave Brinda yep I’m having this exact same issue at the moment and the only solution I’ve come across is to not use time and to just be careful about manual updating the take each time I render. Super annoying...
Is there any reason not to use periods to separate things, instead of underscores, which just make the name physically longer? e.g. YYYY.MM.DD instead of YYYY_MM_DD
In the past, I thought maybe it could cause some sort of conflict with an OS, but does anyone have any experience with this actually being the case? I've also sometimes used an foot mark as a separator (YYYY'MM'DD) in an effort to help my names be less long. I HATE having to slide columns open wider continually so that I can read my nicely alphabetized names.
Indeed it can give conflicts with the OS in the early days. Especially the . it was used as: filename.extention Even spaces sometimes gave problems. Even now when exporting video for places where they use software to process the video you really want to avoid characters like ' " . \ / < > ( ) even if you can name your movie ' " . \ / < > ( ).mov in OSx So it's just safe to use _ for spacing. For dates you I just use YYYYMMDD if the string begins with 2018 you quickly know its a date.
A little off this topic but still on point. I watched your tutorial about using motion captured data from Mixamo but when I tried to make up an animation that 1st walks and then runs forward, each of the motion clips skips/starts at coordinate 0° (initial position coordinate) which makes the animation repeat almost the same distance from the 0° cordinate instead of continuing from where the 1st (walk motion clips) ends. So am wondering if you guys have any tutorial that can guide me through in order to make an animation that walks and then runs along my street model scene. Thanks alot in advance.
In your motion clip, go to Advanced> Create Pivot for the run cycle, then manually position it to match the end of the walk cycle. I haven't found an easier way to line them up but a little tweaking will make it match.
Please give me a solution to that👇👇 incase any is available. I wanna make the next skit of my recently started project I named "Remy the Dance" which alternates on the Mixamo character called "Remy". Just made one episode so far. Thanks once again
This was technically named tokens-youtube_tutorial_v2, but we never used the f-word... "Final"

Or better use $YYYY_$MM_$DD to not confuse the year with a month or day
Nice! Yep you can really customize it any way you like. Very powerful!

Stumbled on this the other day. This is a life-saver, Chad! I'm so meticulous about my organization and this makes the process so so so so so easy!

this title is 10/10 and most of the reason i clicked the video LOL
Man, I wish they would sell this plugin outside of Cineversity. $300 to add some cool tokens to my renders is a little spicy.
Holy crap. This is about to change my world

I'm from China. Thank you very much for your tutorial

I have tons of files that are like _rev1_v3 in my DAZ Studio OneDrive folders.
That's sad that build in tokens don't have time/date tokens.
"TItle"008FinalFiDoneFinishedLastHateThisDamnRender2
I just tried to use it inside the RenderQueue, but somehow it does not work with ../../ to get up two folders. Do you know why?
Absolute life saver!
Thanks!

Just an FYI from our friends at Cineversity - If you have a Maxon Service Agreement, you'll have a coupon for a Cineversity Premium subscription.
The plugin is not available anymore.
But thanks for that tut! Pretty cool for organization!
AFAIK the plugin is still available from Cineversity.

did you figure this out. I'm getting the same thing for animations...one folder per frame instead of all the frames in one folder.

Super useful, thanks!
Did you ever store the date of the current File inside the name?
Thank you so much. This just saved me a ton of time!
You're very welcome! Thanks for watching!
THIS IS GOLD
Thanks!!!
Really wish the Render Queue didn't break relative file pathing. (../)
Hey Chad, thanks for this. Looks like the Increment $cv01 token doesnt work, or am I doing something wrong?
what if i want incremental number like
Render 1,2,3,4,5...
I wonder if there is a way to do this in After Effects
How to remove the frame number?
I use render queue a lot, and he always put the _i2 etc to the extension, no matter how many tokens i use...
Issue: If you are rendering a sequence - your files will be in different folders because of time token. Is there any option to RENDER START TIME token?
Actually, this is not an issue. The time is recorded on the start of the entire render process. Not frame by frame. 👍
tested it with RS render + AOV enabled. If AOV disabled - its ok. But looks like AOV rendering is seperate process, so its create another folders etc. Btw, thanks for RS videos!
UPD. Then using direct output in AOV tab it creates another time folders. Need to use default C4d multipass tab to work with this method

I'm not getting the same results with Octane/Redshift render passes. Defaults to the project folder. Anyone else get this?

I generally stay away from using "." in any other place than the sequence numbering.
