Shame some of us vomit at the sight of code - no matter how simple! I would go as far to say that ‘fields’ have gone a long way in removing the need for code. If anything, this tutorial has exposed an area where work is needed so that code is not required to create these selections. Sooo glad you did this one. Thank you.
Many 3D apps have a 'select every nth' function for points, or faces etc. I could never find that button in C4D, is it there? It would be useful occasionally.
Hello, I know ive very late here, but you can use bitwise operators in the formula field. For your case, you can use (id > 100) && (id < 110). This is checking the two conditions are BOTH met
Why not make proper point, edge, polygon selection functions instead of forcing us to hack with these methods? Is it really hard to code these functions for common selections such as every other polygon, every 3rd something, etc? There are plugins out there, half of them don't work as advertised.
You brought this apocalypse upon yourself you are cruel sick. Did you really believe some measure of justice would come to you can you live with the tragedy that is coming to you in a way you never imagined vertical symmetrical horizontal will leave you in a circumstance you never imagined.
Would it be possible to have a video series for the formulas with a case study?

Thank you.
Math is simple when you know the right formula! Awesome video, please make more of these!
Nice one, thank you Jonas! Formula Field and Effector have so much potential.
That was super! I have been trying to figure out how to do this off an on for the last few years!

This is really great and new to me! Awesome tip!
Awesome tut, learning something new all the time!
That's amazing, thank you!
Really interesting
Wish they gave more exciting use cases for maths in school
Very very cooooool :)
Thank you :) Congratulations for this tip and video :)
Thanks, amazing
How can I select a group of ids, f.e I tried id=42 & id=555 but its not working, how can I select a set of numbers between the id
Master!!
Great. Thank you.
Question: How could i select every polygon between id 100-110. So every poly from 100 til 110 is selected?

It's useful.
Appreciate!
can I select first or last ID with a formula?
Boom amazing thank s :)
nice!
But how was this polygon pattern created? On regular triangulared spheres you just get diagonal stripes.
Go to *Sphere Attributes* and use *Type* drop down menu to select Icosahedron. Or any other type.
@@stephmaccormick3195 Aaaaah thank you :D
I don't have "Use Fields (Basic/Fields)" in R19, Why?
New Fields function that can be used in MoGraph and many other areas of Cinema 4D R20
@@yunyunyun790 Thanks!
2019 + 5 years = what year it is now, with no, in depth video(s) on formulas.
wow!)

my god i thought i was done with school
ur welcome! mod(id;3)=0
it is not that complicated...ok I see. but I will do it the old way I think it will save more time then wasting time for math
Stupidly complicated operations for a very simple task.
Actually cinema is being left behind day by day.
Looks like someone was a donkey in Maths class
Useful vid but thumb down for the music.
Interesting comment, but thumbs down for spelling, and overall buffoonery.

Now, THIS is a critique! You are truly the voice of reason in a sea of chaos my friend.
Just wait until f(x) hits you.
