    *Correction: As a grain whiskey it was distilled on a column still, not triple distilled. This was a “cut and paste” error from other notes.

    Just opened my first bottle of this today, an xmas present from my wife, I typically buy my own whiskey, she's not a whiskey fan but knows I love Irish. She did well, I really like it.

    To me ,Teeling is the most interesting distillery in Irish whiskey. They're young, innovative, VERY ambitious, dedicated, hard working, versatile and are trying their hand at everything while at the same time being affordable and widely available. Some of their offerings I enjoy more than others but I can honestly say I never had a bad Teeling yet. Just picked up their new Blackpitts Peated Irish Single Malt last week and can't wait to tuck into it. One day very soon I can see them being the biggest Irish whiskey brand worldwide. Respect to them.

    I've been a wine guy most of my 66 years of adult life and it's only been the last four months that I've started to drink single malt whisky, Erik you've been a big part of my journey in my whisky quest and I thank you, now I'm heading towards the Irish whiskey and this Teeling I'm able to get here in central Maine. Thanks for your reviews I enjoy all them all. I still go to the vineyards when I visit my little brother in California!!

    Teeling Single Grain is one of my favourite Teeling offerings, that sweetness is so distinctive.

    I enjoy this bottle a lot and it is good to hear you enjoy it too. $35? crazy . It's twice that price up here, but I still like it. Cheers!

    Just finished my first bottle of Teeling single grain and already bought a second one that was on sale for $38.99. Good review and agree completely. Cheers!

    That single grain was the first one I had of the Teeling line and it left an impression big time. I like the other ones a lot but this one is the one I remember the most and for the price is a bargain in my opinion. Great review Eric! Cheers!

    After your review of the Teeling Single Malt I ordered a bottle (which I'm enjoying), but I should have waited until this review posted because now I want one of these too. Great review. Thank you again Erik!

    Great Review of Teeling Single Grain. I enjoy the Small Batch from Teeling and wines. This seems to be like choice to for me next to buy if run across the Single Grain in my area. You have experience on cabs for California & France that others may not. Thank you for taking the time to review this whiskey from Teeling. Look forward to more great content. Cheers!

    Great video again. Have to say not really ever considered a single grain (corn) and surprised it can be called Whiskey lol. Wonder due to the wines notes could it be ever like Longrow Red? It was / is stunning.

    Great video! I like that you have experience with other spirits and wine. I get frustrated when I watch some Bourbon reviewers that only drink Bourbon (mostly) and knock a whiskey because it has dry, tannic, or savory notes. This looks good but cost $50 where I’m at. Just $3 cheaper than the Single malt and single pot still expressions.

    Cool review. Hyde and Clonakilty have some wine finished Single Grains. It's a fascinating comparison when you compare the three of them.

    I have been drinking this whiskey for years and recommend it to everyone to try. The whisky is not as sweet as you would expect from a dram containing so much corn. It is quite distinctive being nothing like a bourbon, nothing like a malt and always offering great value for money just like the Small Batch. Both are regularly $15 - $20 cheaper than the Teeling Single Malt which always appeals to the bottom line. One nearly comparable Irish whiskey is the Method and Madness single grain but trouble is that this one tastes nothing like it either. The Method and Madness is stored in virgin oak and draws glucose from the oak just like bourbon causing it to arrive much sweeter than the Teeling. My preference is for the Teeling. If you enjoy your malts not too sweet and are looking for something out of the ordinary then do give this one a try.

      It needs some patience. After I finished recording the video I had another glass and liked it even more. Apparently they have the casks shipped whole rather than dismantled and they are shipped wet so you get more Cabernet influence.

      @@ErikWaitWhiskyStudies opened this today. I came back to a few videos to re-review notes. I haven't picked up on the wine influence at all but still really enjoy it. I'm getting loads of fruit first, then banana bread and vanilla. When i first smelled it, it smelled a lot like bourbon, but after time in the glass I didn't get that as much.

    When you are describing the evolution of flavors as the bottle goes down makes me think of an experiment. Do you have a wine decanter that is made to airate as the liquid is poured in ? This sounds like a good one to pour through something like that to see what happens ? Especially as it's not too expensive in case it result is not ideal. Cheers Erik

    • @ErikWaitWhiskyStudies
      @ErikWaitWhiskyStudies  3 роки тому +1

      I have a glass decanter, but not a decanter funnel in which you pour wine through an aerator. Next time I see one at a store I'll pick one up and do an experiment. Thanks for the idea!

    I'm curious: when you mention "black currants" do you mean "currants" (i.e. dried seedless, dark red grapes, otherwise known as Corinth Raisins) - which happen to look black - or "black currants", which are a completely different fruit (ribes nigrum) called "cassis" in France?

    • @ErikWaitWhiskyStudies
      @ErikWaitWhiskyStudies  3 роки тому +1

      I am referring to cassis. Thanks for asking.

      @@ErikWaitWhiskyStudies Thanks for confirming - I had heard that there was a problem with black currants in the U.S. (at least historically), so wasn't sure how well known they are there (I've had trouble explaining Ribena to Americans in the past!).

    You are going to have to change your channel name to Erik Wait Whiskey studies. 😊 Cannot wait for you to finish with the Irish whiskies. Just my personal opinion as Irish whiskey smells and tastes just so "two dimensional". Even went and bought a few more because of your reviews as I started questioning myself but have now given them away.

      My next video will be a review of the Waterford Dunbell 1.1 Single Farm Origin Irish Single Malt Whisky. Notice there is no "e" in the "whisky." My current series will be complete about mid November 2020 at which time I will do a long series on Non-Islay Peated Whiskies. I'll also do some comparison videos with Islay Peated Whiskies.
