Phil's personal life was very complicated at the time of this performance and yet he gave it all on the stage; so much energy. That's the mark of a true professional. As for the band, simply amazing.

@@kooskansloos4834 At the time he had entered a new relationship, and was very happy. His career was never number one to his family. He offered to join his first wife in Vancouver to save their marriage prior to Face Value. Thank you Mr or Mrs Kansloos.
He recorded and released Face Value, which went stratospheric in the charts in 1981. When he was living alone in a small house in Surrey. Hello I Must Be Going (which this track was from MsKansloos) was the follow up solo album. He recorded Abacab with Genesis in between. Both albums on the UK charts alone did phenomenal business. Hello was on the charts for 52 weeks, probably sold 900,000 physical copies. Nothing to do with his family, people close to him, or related. Phil's job was to entertain. Every album he released he dedicated to his kids. So take a long look at yourself before trolling Phil.

Phil Collins is one of the greatest singers in the world. If he is singing, he shows lots of emotions to the publicum. I love it so much.
He’s definitely one of my favorite singers ever. I find it crazy that many people don’t like his voice (I found that out here on UA-cam).
I saw Phil June 2, 1985, in Irvine Meadows. I still have the ticket stubs. I was 19. I see old reels of his solo concerts and I'm so glad I saw him before the JumboTron with Genesis. It was organic.
To date, I've seen him 9 times solo and twice with Genesis. It was great! Good times. 🎉
You beat me! You saw him first! My first was July 1, 1985 at MSG...but I saw him live another 27 times solo, big band, Genesis, Going Back...New York, London, Zurich, Tampa....never enough.

When I saw Phil on the Both Sides tour in 1994, he introduced this song by saying, "Here's one you don't hear every day," and proceeded to just light up the arena. I think that might have been the last concert I saw at the Spectrum in Philadelphia and Phil sure made it memorable.

I love this concert! The energy and the freshness of these amazing songs are awesome and is absolutely timeless!!! ! I discovered this Tour only recently and I'm totally thrilled about it! Transporting these personal lyrics to the crowd was very exciting I guess. Even back then he surrounded himself with the best musician that he could get! I'm working on various paintings of him and it's an amazing experience to watch this concert while beeing creative. I wish so bad that the "Both sides" Tour would be released on dvd, it was the best Tour ever in my opinion, but I'm grateful for Perkins Palace videos
