I requested a one-hit wonder a few days ago by an actor who recently passed away, David Soul, and the song is "Don't give up on us, Baby" ! The song is from the late 70's, and I think Amber will love it since she loves soft rock from the 70's. Just thought I'd request it again. The actor was part of a crime fighting duo named Starsky and Hutch, it was very popular during the 2nd half of the 70's! Just some fun facts about the show. Great action scenes, and great car!
Before Starsky and Hutch he played Joshua Bolt, the middle brother on Here Come The Brides. Bobby Sherman , who played the youngest brother, Jeremy, was also a heartthrob in the late sixties and early seventies. My sister had at least one of his albums. I was three years younger and David Cassidy was my first big crush.
One thing that people often overlook about Gates is that in addition to his immaculate voice from God he was also a brilliant songwriter whose lyrics are sheer poetry, and their sad, sweet beauty blends perfectly with that sad, sweet, beautiful voice. Love me some bread and I love that you love appreciate them. It's mutual love society, y'all! 😃
Yes! It'll actually be their 9th, with this song they've already done 8. But I agree with "Diary". That song actually tears me up though. Heartbreakingly beautiful song.
As others have said - “Diary” is such a beautiful song, old style lyrics for sure, but that is the beauty about David Gates songs. I can’t imagine anyone not liking Bread or Gates - similar to The Carpenters in that you just have to admit that the songs and the voice are from heaven…yes, “Diary” next.
Never My Love by the Association. Perfect soft rock band beyond gorgeous song, harmonies and arrangement. Heard it on the radio and thought I needed to recommend it to you. Don’t forget David Gates is Tulsa’s own! ❤
They definitely will love getting deeper into The Association. In fact, in quick search, doesn’t look like they have yet reacted to any by The Association. Overdue. They are going to likely love some of those 60’s Golden Oldies.
Amber you make my 85 year old dad so proud loving Bread. It's one of his favorite bands and he brought me up in the 70s listening to them as a kid. I know you've done a lot of them, but if you havent heard Goodbye Girl, it is a must! Also from the movie which is good as well.
Your dad has great taste! I’m 59 years old, and I’ve loved Bread since I was a young kid. 80s music is my favorite overall, but I listened to lots of Bread growing up.
amber .. 62 year old aussie ..its so awesome you guys love Aussie 70s ....little river band ..happy anniversary and home on a monday..also divinyls JEALOUS..she was so underraided and not really seen ..black sorrows JOE CAMALLIRI AUSSIE legend ..look at jo jo zep and the falcons and a guy called DOUG PARKINSON and YES all these guys just played in the local pubs .. you would have loved it amber x
Bread can make me cry 😢. Everytime I hear them they are just so beautiful. But more importantly, they take me back to my childhood and memories of everyone in my family being alive. Grandparents , Mom, Dad, my baby brother, childhood friends and others we lost 😢 School days that were magical. Days gone by that were so much better than where this world is now. I love reminiscing! I truly have had a wonderful life and Bread is One of my favorite groups ❤
Surprisingly Bread has a rockin tune called Mother Freedom that used to be in rotation on rock stations back in the mid 70’s! It’s a banger that you’s might enjoy!
GREAT suggestion Barak...one of my favorites and you are right - they WILL be surprised by how it ROCKS. Another song that is similar in that way is "Let your Love go". If you aren't familiar with it, give it a listen.
@@davereynolds4992 Yes! I love both of those. I had to look up the lyrics for “Let Your Love Go” to remember it but you’re right. That and “Mother Freedom” definitely have a different sound than most of the songs by Bread. “Down on My Knees” is another rocker. In my mind they sound like they had the same lead singer but it wasn’t David Gates. I looked online but didn’t find who sang them.
I think my fav Bread song is Sweet Surrender. With the violin in the background, this is one of my definite road trip songs to play. Another soft rock group is England Dan and John Ford Coley.
Love you guys. Bread is beautiful . "Cool Change" by Little River Band is another soft rock classic. Another genre "I'll take you there" by the Staple Singers is amazing. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Bread was a staple with the high school girls when I was in school in 73-74. The boys had to listen to them because we wanted to be with the girls. ha ha It was a rare boy that would admit to liking them in those days and I would bet many like them now.
I like listening to these old songs closing my eyes and I'm back to being a young teenager with not a care in the world thank you for making me feel young for a few minutes
I agree. I have suggested "Down on My Knees" which is also sung by him every time one of the reaction channels I watch listen to a Bread song. Either reaction would be great.
IMO, Griffin/Royer's "Our Lady Of Sorrow", about a woman fighting addiction, is the best thing Bread ever did. Ironically, it is the last song on their last album, Lost Without Your Love.
Great Reaction…… ❤️ Little River Band……❤️ 1) Happy Anniversary 2) The Night Owls 3) Man On Your Mind 4) Help Is On It’s Way 5) Reminiscing 6) Lady 7) It’s A Long Way There 8) Lonesome Loser 9) Cool Change ……. All were big radio hits ❤️🔥🫶🏻
Bread was one of my favorites back in my youth. Their songs always sounded so crisp and clean in those pre-digital days. Some of their classics you have yet to hear such as "Diary", "Down On My Knees", and "Let Your Love Go". Their songs always sounded so crisp and clean in those pre-digital days.
Bread was the ultimate make out music back in the 70’s. Any guy worth his weight in salt had “The Best of Bread” 8-Track tape in his car. Amazing how great it sounded from the backseat, softly playing over and over, parked at the beach on a warm summer night, with the windows rolled down 😉
Another great soft rock artist I would love for you to hear is Dan Fogelberg. Many soft rock hits... Longer, Leader of the Band, Part of the Plan, Run for the Roses. All Great!
Songs to check out from the Little River Band, "Lady", "Happy Anniversary", "It's A Long Way There" , "Lonesome Loser", "Reminiscing" & "Help Is On Its Way"
I’m amazed how few people have reacted to Bread’s “Sweet Surrender”. It has my favorite bridge of all time and it’s yet another super romantic song by Bread
For The Little River Band I would highly recommend reacting to "Take It Easy On Me" released in late 1981. Dan Fogelberg is another soft rock artist from the 70s/80s I hope you return to. "Longer" by him is one of the most beautiful songs ever.
This song has always reminded me of being back in hight school in early 70s when my boyfriend an I broke up. I'd play this song all the time . Here years later I still remember him when I hear this song
David Gates was from Tulsa and was a contemporary of Russell Bridges (Leon Russell) where they attended Will Rogers High School and were both in a band called The Accents. When I lived in Tulsa, David’s brother was my eye doctor. This is how my mom got educated on who David Gates was in the 1970s.
Another popular soft rock group from the 60's was "Spanky and Our Gang". They had 3 big hits. " I'd Like to Get to Know You", "Lazy Day" and " Sunday Will Never Be the Same".
****THIS IS THE ONE**** I've mentioned this before, but since you asked for LITTLE RIVER BAND songs, this is absolutely the one you need to listen to. The LONG version of "It's a long way there". About 8 minutes and 40 seconds long. There is a shorter "radio" version, but you'll be cheating yourself if you don't do the longer one (you'll miss some fantastic mellow guitar work). I promise that when it's over, you will think it's only been 4 or 5 minutes. FANTASTIC!!!! As for Bread songs, there are many. I was a senior in HS when this son (It don't matter to me) was released - I remember it well. Another song with the same vibe and sweetness that folks never seem to mention (or react to) is "Sweet Surrender a short song, but beautiful and with the same sort of fantastic guitar solo (short) as Amber liked in this song. Hope to hear reactions to one or both soon!
Wow! Just closed my eyes and had a near total body flashback. 1974. Going from my home in DC to my girlfriends home in central PA. Cruising the back roads in my '66 Ford Galaxie convertible with The Best of Bread on the 8-track. Thanks Guys!
I was born in 1958, so I grew up listening to all this music, the British Invasion, americas comeback, Motown, Folk Rock, Soft Rock, Heavy Metal, shock rock, disco, punk. Thank God that I was born in this time, to experience this music. I smile when someone says groups these days are doing something new, cause I’ve already heard it before, and better.
I was 7 or 8 when I first heard Bread. My sister had the Greatest Hits and I used to play it constantly. As I got older I got into punk, hard rock, and alternative so I buried my love for Bread because it wasn’t cool. But I eventually came back to them and they still gave me those awesome feelings when I first heard them
This is one of the very best Bread hits. Without a doubt a desert island disc. I can't believe you haven't reacted to this song already. Totally love it.
Another wonderful David Gates tune. How could you go wrong? Weather's turning really cold here in Oklahoma in the coming days. Stay warm you guys, and as always, thanks much for sharing. Steve
I absolutely love Bread! Thank you two for sharing your thoughts about this group. It is so refreshing to see both of you on your UA-cam channel showcasing the music of my era! I look forward every day to see what group or person you are listening to. 😊
❤ love Bread. You need to hear MOTHER FREEDOM! Also, if you really want to hear more Little River Band, then MAN ON YOUR MIND and THE OTHER GUY should absolutely be on your list!
Bread was extremely popular in the late 60's and early 70's when I was in grade school. They were in many ways, my first love. They had so many great songs, my favorite has always been "If", but they're all great!
Another beautiful male voice is Dan Fogelberg. You’ve only listened to him twice I believe but his 1973 album Home Free is incredible….very soft and also mesmerizing. The song “To the Morning” is my favorite but also “Stars” and “Be On Your Way” are close seconds! The whole album is incredible.
I got a loaf (👈🏻see what I did there?😂) of Bread songs to request. "Diary", "Look What You've Done", "Anyway You Want Me", "London Bridge", "Sweet Surrender". For some Bread songs that have a little more Rock than Soft: "Dismal Day", "Truckin'", "Down On My Knees" and "Let Your Love Go". And Jay, I think you will really like "Fancy Dancer". The bass line is very prevalent in that song and it slaps. 😎👍
This is so cleverly written, because while usually in a "break-up" song the singer is either begging the other person to stay, or is telling the other person they will regret leaving and that the singer will be fine so it doesn't matter to them. In this case, he is saying it doesn't matter to him if the other person leaves because he wants her to be happy. He also says it doesn't matter to him if she comes back, because he'll be there waiting for her. It's obvious to me that it DOES matter to him and the title lyric is a kind of defense mechanism to play it cool. He intends to wait forever for her, though he thinks (hopes) he won't need to. It actually matters A LOT to him.
For LRB I would suggest "Help is on it's way" and " It's a long way there". Also, you've only done my favorite artist Dan Fogelburg twice, so songs I'd really love you to react to are "Netherlands", "Scarecrows Dream", and "Same Old Lang Sine".
Love this song! I remember when this was all over the radio in my teens. It's also a prime example of what my guitar teacher was trying to make me understand; that often, less is more. This arrangement is a thing of beauty! The guitar fills are perfectly placed, and as Amber noted, the drummer wasn't trying to be the fasted drummer on the planet. He was holding the tempo for the rest of the band to float on. You really need to react to Mother Freedom and Truckin' Down the Highway. And for The Hollies, Long Cool Woman. That one is a rocker! I always turn up the volume for those three!
Bread is not all about David Gates. The other three members of the band were excellent musicians in their own right. The other major songwriter of Bread was James Griffin who co-wrote the song "For All We Know", the song popularized by the Carpenters. You can find a short version of Griffin's own version of this song in UA-cam. Griffin's voice was as awesome as David Gates and the blending of their voice is one of the best I've heard in the rock genre.
I requested a one-hit wonder a few days ago by an actor who recently passed away, David Soul, and the song is "Don't give up on us, Baby" ! The song is from the late 70's, and I think Amber will love it since she loves soft rock from the 70's. Just thought I'd request it again. Omg. Funny you mention David Soul. When i was a kid i thought he was the singer of Bread. I got David Gates and him mixed up. Btw great song!
Don't give up on us , baby....you are so right, another great song! I still play this weekly on my Alexa lol
Had David Soul’s album 💜 Starsky & Hutch 1975-79 … similar times with Charlie’s Angels 1976-81
Before Starsky and Hutch he played Joshua Bolt, the middle brother on Here Come The Brides. Bobby Sherman , who played the youngest brother, Jeremy, was also a heartthrob in the late sixties and early seventies. My sister had at least one of his albums. Well said! I love to see these two appreciate the music that I loved before they were even born.
Firefall "Just Remember I Love You"..A MUST HEAR Classic. 🔥❤️
agree!!
Yes, please! Beautiful soft rock song!
Love their song Cinderella.
The Association was a soft rock band from the 60's, very comparable to Bread. You need to react to "Cherish" and "Never My Love".
Jay & Amber, you'll love their "Diary" !!! (for your 8th Bread song)
I have suggested the very same many times,, Great song with a surprise story twist at the end.
Good one! Was just thinking the same thing.
I agree that Diary should be the next one to listen to by Bread

I love the simple percussion work they do.

outstanding song .
The voice of David Gates is a gift from heaven. What a songwriter as well......... Many thanks for sharing.

Bread's slow songs are heavenly but they had a couple of bangers that were awesome too. Check out "Mother Freedom" and " Let Your Love Go"
Both of those are great and I'd also add "Truckin'" to their bangers list.
Have to add the vote for Diary and Aubrey. Bread makes even heartbreak beautiful.
They did Aubrey.
Everything I Own by Bread and Last Train by Gates solo
They already did Aubrey, but DIARY would be great!
@@johnsalguero4742 They also did Everything I Own.
I love diary
One of the best songs ever written.
Bread was great. Nice songs. 70s.
YES, YES! Don't give up on us baby by David Seol! One of my all time favs, and Amber, you won't be disappointed 😃
This is such a BEAUTIFUL song. I could listen to Bread on repeat for hours, and love every minute of it.
I think my fav Bread song is Sweet Surrender. With the violin in the background, this is one of my definite road trip songs to play. Another soft rock group is England Dan and John Ford Coley.
You CANT go wrong with Bread!❤
Diary -by Bread is killer! I think Amber will dig the lyrics. Kills me every time!
Night are forever without you by England Dan and John Ford Coley is a classic soft rock song.

Bread reminds me of road trips to the South New Jersey shore with my family back in the 70’s when I was a kid. Same with the band “America”.
I like listening to these old songs closing my eyes and I'm back to being a young teenager with not a care in the world thank you for making me feel young for a few minutes

Bread has the most of great soft rock songs. . .reason I sometimes put a compilation of their hits on to go to sleep by.

"DIARY" is one of my favorite Bread songs. I love your channel.
David Gates was simply amazing during this era. What a voice!
My older brother had their album. Freaking love it still!❤
One of the soundtracks of my teenage years! Love Bread! ❤️

I grew up listening to Bread. Great sounding vocals and music.
My favorite Bread song. So many decades ago when I was just a kid and listening to all the Bread hits. Fantastic.
I love Bread, such amazing vocals by David Gates...love you guys, hope you watch Goldmember soon too!!!
Another great soft rock artist I would love for you to hear is Dan Fogelberg. Many soft rock hits... Longer, Leader of the Band, Part of the Plan, Run for the Roses. All Great!
His best, IMO, was "Why must I be lonely in love". "The last nail" is also great.
Oh yes. Do Fogel erg. Hard to Say. Run for the Roses, Another Auld Lang Syne, The Leader of the Band.
Love this song, brings back so many memories ❤. But I'll bet you'll love "Smooth " by Santana featuring Rob Thomas 😉
Thinking they have already, excellent tune and I love Carlos Santana and Rob from matchbox twenty. Did you know that was his girlfriend in the video.
Songs to check out from the Little River Band, "Lady", "Happy Anniversary", "It's A Long Way There" , "Lonesome Loser", "Reminiscing" & "Help Is On Its Way"

Love Bread but had a good listen with you guys. What a sweet sentiment and beautiful composition. Love Amber's reactions to these types of songs.
Little River Band has a song with great harmonies and a really funky bass part. It's called, "Happy Anniversary" and it is sung to an ex-wife.

A MUST HEAR Classic,, Bread "Been Too Long On The Road" ❤
Bread were great but this one is the most beautiful song of all their great hits!
Glad Amber picked up on some of the unique traits of this song, I think this was a top 10 hit in 1970! My favorite Bread song
LRB ... oh my. So many good ones. Ballerina, Down On The Border, It's A Long Way There, Lady ... I can't remember which ones you've already done.

I absolutely love Bread! Thank you two for sharing your thoughts about this group. It is so refreshing to see both of you on your UA-cam channel showcasing the music of my era! I look forward every day to see what group or person you are listening to. 😊
Jay, a while back I mentioned the Gibson ES 335 guitar as having a very earthy tone. This is another example of that guitar.
Just when you thought you knew what to expect from Bread, along comes a song like "Mother Freedom"...you have to give that one a go!
One of my all time favorites!! Took me right back to a sweeter, simpler time. Thank you so much!❤❤❤

"Diary" by Bread is still one to hear!!!
Mike Botts... a superb craftsman on the drums.
Poco is a great soft band. Heart of the Night, Crazy Love, Rose of Cimmaron etc. You'll hear the Eagles in them.
They were a nice soft rock group. Reminds me of Seals & Crofts. Back in the day, sitting with your girl and listening to a song like this. Good stuff
I love seals and crofts! Definitely need to do more of their music!

Some other songs that use this same trope are 10cc's "I'm Not In Love" and to a certain extent, Eric Clapton's "Promises."
@@christianmarler2253 Also, "I'll Be Around" by the Spinners has this same trope.
The Whole Song is based on the Adage "If you love Someone, set them free... If they return, it's meant to be... if they don't, it never was.".
"Dancing Shoes" by Dan Fogelberg. It's always been a favorite of mine. Soft and ethereal. Beautiful.
Bread is a very underrated band.
This was the very first concert I went to. I was 12 and it was the best thing in my childhood! 1970 baby👍🎶❣️
Mr and Mrs. Robinson you both rock,
God I pray this music comes back. These themes are timeless. Man expressing his love. Vulnerable and yet strong. Thanks young people.
I don't think I've heard this song in almost 50 years, and I still remember most of the lyrics from my childhood.
Brings back great memories from grade school! Thanks!
I love Bread. They are on the playlist I listen to daily. But please give the Association a reaction....Never My Love
Their song “Diary” is beautiful
For little river band, try “take it easy on me”. Fantastic harmonies.
Little River Band. “Reminiscing”, “ Help is on its Way”, “Cool Change”. To name a few.
