Hiya Nick, nice collection sir. Love the house as well. Like you I have my WWII collection spread across my entire house. Figured why not I'm divorced, kids are grown, married and it's just me and my dog. Started collecting back in the 80s and have amassed a huge collection now, plus model planes, R/C aircraft and a shop out back with muscle cars in it. Needless to say I never get bored.

It gets worse... I collect WW2 German documents and on some of the forums I use, stories come up about families (in Germany) throwing away stuff when their parents/grand parents die, because they don’t want to be associated with that time period.
An example I heard was a family of a Knights cross winner, who (when they sold the KC medal) were asked about the award certificate that came with the medal said “We have burned the award certificate, because his name was on it”.

On a side note, the Edelweiss was only worn by the 1st Mountain Division of the German army. As the Edelweiss only grew in the Alps..where the 1st Mountain Division trained.

I love your collection, I been collecting for over 35 yrs .My favorites are relics, they tell a story that no mint item can tell. Most of my relic helmets come from digger in the eastern front..in particular from a young fellow that has pieces of a Tiger tank in his backyard.

It's Europe. Here in France, my friend is a gun collector. He has a Kar98k, but the barrel had to be blocked and welded due to regulations. There are times when guns like the Kar98k all the way to an MG42 can still be in working order, but I believe you have to be in a museum. Not quite sure. We are allowed to own pistols, we just need to be part of a club. We are also allowed to own rifles specifically used for hunting. Basically, we have confusing gun laws, but it's also good at the same time. We haven't had any school shootings and terrorist attacks have been cut down because of the laws and requirements to own a firearm. As for knives and bayonets, no one cares.

WOW! Amazing stuff! Reminds me of looking through my great great uncles things from when he was in Europe. He brought back an SA knife, a Luger pistol, and many of his other personal effects like his mess kit and p38 can openers. I’m so glad to see someone who takes great care and carries on the history of these things! Keep up the great work!!!

Just came across your channel. You have an extremely encompassing collection that I can tell is a labour of love. My grandfather is a Canadian Fighter pilot who will celebrate his 100 bday in Oct. I have his flight jacket and photos as well as pictures of his flight log. Keep doing what you are doing. I am very impressed. I also have my firearms liscence and am in possesion of a Mauser K98 1942 BYF. It has all matching serials, waffenamts and 4 eagles with swazis. Was't going to shoot it but that didn't last long. It is laser straight and a beautiful piece of history.

My great great grandfather was in the British army, he liberated sant amand les eaux in France and was awarded 2 military crosses (one in each war), a DSO and loads of other medals with a few special mentions. His name was Arthur Cecil Willison. I can get some pictures of his original medals because my uncle, who is a colonel in the British army has them. His son, Sir David Willison, was complaining about the new helmets and then was shot by a German tank. 70 years later, a part of the shell was pulled out of his shoulder and he met up with the German guy who shot him. We still have that shell.
