I've had my Katana 50 for a year, and this pre-set is exactly what I've been looking for. The tone is so much better than what I came up with. Tack så mycket!
2:15 The order of pedals and different EQs can be changed I believe, so you can still put the noise gate in front of everything else. I would also recommend Lambchopper's videos on the Katana (like Ola said) since he has managed to get extremely close to many famous album tones by fiddling with several EQs
Yea multiple EQs are the big trick to lots of new tones with this amp.
Pretty sure on the PC software you can't move the noise gate
Sourceforge "fxfloorboard editor" open source better alternative function wise than BTS (i.e. completely customizable chain orders)
@@MagicPumpkin I always use the parametric eq when doing a tone because it takes away from the raw katana sound to make it thicker and sound more like a 5150 or a Marshall
There is no noise gate actually. There is a noise supressor which tries to subtract the fizzle after the fact. And you can't change it's position in the chain.
I've been using my katana again recently and am always amazed by how many sounds you can get out of it with a decent guitar. Thanks for the upload and the presets.

One of my favorite features of the Katana effects is the delay. It has like three different delay settings for short frequency and long frequency and you can adjust the delay volume. This is perfect for the Jar of Flies sounding solo notes I love so much
I had a feeling as he started saying it that he'd mention lambchopper for the katana. The dude is awesome and makes some seriously good tones out of everything
Love the Katana, such a huge step up from what I had when I was starting. Amps today really are great.

I brought a Boss Katana Mk2 50 a couple years back and its the best amp ive ever owned, does everything highly recommend if you want a good value amp

Hey Ola! I'm glad you started doing more stuff with the Katana, they're great amps for a budget/just a great amp overall. Maybe you could do another video where people leave their patches for you and you can try them out or tweak them
The Katana really is a work of art. Tube amps are basically defunct nowadays. Solid states really sound good
I love this little amp. My whole life I've played guitar through a bass amp (I'm primarly a bass player) with a Big Muff for distortion but I side-graded to this for my guitar and I'm always picking up a guitar to noodle around with. My "leave it alone" setting is Crunch with Gain, Volume, Bass and Treble cranked to 10, and mid set to 0. Works for everything from early Metallica to Foo Fighters to Joe Walsh (none of which is Pantera, I'll admit.) I'll definitely check out your Live Sets.
I live my Katana and use it for practice and live gigs. It always sounds great and I get compliments on its tone. I traded my Bugera half stack for a MK2 212 and have zero regrets.

i have the 100w head and this has just become one of my my amps and i`m collecting gear since three decades now. i have all the synergy stuff but the price difference between these two setups is just insane, a boss katana synergy module would be just mindblowing imo 😂🎸🙏.
That's so funny. I was just warching some tone demo videos for this amp like 5 hours ago.
Boss Katana is kick-fucking-ass, not only because of the ability to set in presets like this, but because of the way it responds to loads of tweaking. It handles extra effects good as well, which is good for taming the high end.

The Katana is cool in that it is good value for the money in my opinion, but I've always had more satisfying results with pedals and plugins, speaking of which, I can't wait for Ola to try the JST disruptor /Dino Cazares plugin, it's killer-amazing EQ options- and incredible especially for brutal and extended range guitar metal tones!
Ola if you haven't checked out "Mason Vee/ Synthedelic " Pantera patch, you should definitely give it a try. Love your content man!!

THE PANTERA PRESET IS GREAT IT ACTUALLY SOUNDS GOOD NOT CLOUDY LIKE THOSE FAKE PRESETS LOVE IT👍👍👍👍👍
I used the High-gain Stack amp, GuvDS as a booster, Graphic eq as an Fx, light comp as a mod, and just a little bit of plate reverg to create my own chugging tone preset. I also added a noise gate to cut that static tv noise.

I have the first Katana 50 and even in the lower string it sounds way too fizzy. Does anyone have a recommendation for speaker or something to make it sound better? Not looking for studio tones but for something that doesn't make me want to turn it off
I think I'm gonna have to consider this amp, but I am curious as to what Ola can do with a legit guitar synthesizer (using a hex pickup- Roland gk-3 or Fishman triple play).

Ola - I am a pedalboard guy... is the Katana NRmaybe in some sort of trying to emulate the Boss NR pedal - which I have and works best- looped or perhaps an option to configure it that way or edit it..?? - considering the head version of the Katana.....
Hi Ola. Are You familiar with the sonic stomp pedal made by BBE? I bought one last year and I reckon its a great pedal. I'm not sure how it works but it makes everything sound better. I use it on my guitar, bass, and electronic drums.

I've tried Katana Artist combo amp and was very good, enough of settings. Though I liked DT25 combo amp more over it surprisingly.
Anyway, waiting to see more models with fishmans of that X with different bridge!
Hi Ola! Do you think it would be worth doing a "will it chug" on a tonepros roller bridge mounted on one of your TOM bridge guitars? I would be interested in seeing that given the fact that i couldn't find any video demoing the roller bridge on metal guitars. Thank you for your videos! \m/
As a katana owner and a metal guitarist, the fizzy high end you mentioned on the katana has driven me absolutely crazy for as long as I've owned it. I feel like it is really difficult to get a tight sounding tone with high gain on these amps because even with me running an MXR noise clamp at the beginning of my signal chain, some global EQ to clean up around the high end and give a little more depth to the low/low mids (I feel the amp can also sound pretty thin especially when it's cranked without the EQ), and the built in noise suppressor I still get that squeaky feedback.

50w mk2 is what I got for my 1st amp! It was a no-brainer here in Canada, we don't get a lot of options.
how would you brighten up a dark amp? using a dual rectifier roadster with either an OS bogner 212 and randall v30 412 OS cab, sounds fantastic other than it being a tad dark, boosting with a Maxon st9+ pro, thanks

PLEASE HELP ME, when I load the tone, then I have an eternal download on the patch, it comes to the middle and that's it. What to do?
I tried to add one of the tones to my channel 1 slot and it just hangs when I try and copy it across, other patches work fine. Katana MK2 😟
i was originally going to buy a boss katana, but i found the LIne 6 Catalyst instead, you can get some really nice metal tones out if it almost immedately on the high gain channel. id love to see that amp on Ola testing sh*t

I have a huge question, how told handle noise, feedback, hum and noise and all that perfectly like the best way noise gates, eq etc. Cause im having troubles with at the moment with my 5150 iconic mixed with a tube screamer

Ola please Respong! Why does my Randall Diavlo keep blowing a fuse when i turn it on! I imagine its a tube and Im going to take out all the tubes and then put new fuse in and hopefully it doesnt blow. If not I'll start sticking in tubes until it does. I'll be able to figure it out but i thought it might be a good idea for one of your segments. For the folks less familiar with tube amps. Thank you for all your hard work!
How would you compare this amp to say, a Peavey Vypyr or a Marshall Code?
Had mine since 2020 opened up the app on PC once and was too lazy to ever change the settings again. I gotta get back into playing
A lot of brands just cut a thin black triangle for the truss rod tool access, polish the edges and that's it, whereas this one on the X type is very nice!. I ended loving white guitars for some reason and this X type is gorgeous !
