Trying out this thing called Boss Katana Go, you plug it into your ass and your farts sound amazing! I would recommend using the Brown preset for this...
Det ska jag testa!
😂
Always the Brown channel, it cleans up nicely when you roll the volume down.
Is it Bluetooth compatible?
It’d be cool if you can Bluetooth it to the clean channel on a amp.
Arigato, Ola-San - nailed it.
Hey boss, here’s some idea, put it built in to your wireless footswitch pedal and probably also a bigger battery so it can last longer. You can name it Katana Pedal
@@regianalfarizithere we have boss gt1000
@@spanneng then it doesn’t fit on your pocket anymore. What i mean is, putting katana go dsp directly to FS 1 WL footswitch. It will be more practical rather than scrolling preset through small button and charging/power up two separate device. I have FS 1 WL and it’s still fit in my hoodie pocket. I think in NAMM I saw it in mooer booth where they have mooer prime s1 which is basically mooer p2 + it’s wireless footswitch combined in one device only and still maintain its small form factor. I believe boss could do this also
-where is it manufactured?-
-WHERE IS IT MANUFACTURED?- nevermind, Vietnam, alright
please do not hate me for asking, but what is the input-output delay? couple millis?
That's actually a perfect piece of gear for touring purposes not only for silent practice at home but on the backstage too
See the more We make the budgeted stuff sound awesome, the better I believe! 😊
But, to be on the safe side, it's always use the proper recording gear! 😉🤘
Man, I can't imagine this being possible when I was a teenager just learning. Had you come up to me and said there'd be an amplifier simulator that you plugged right into the guitar jack and you control it with a portable phone, I'd have thought you were insane yet here we are.
Korg released the Pandora PX1 in 1996 which was a similar deal, just slightly bigger form factor. The unit was actually pretty sick considering it came out almost 30 years ago.
@@aavavertu229 Not to mention the Rockman X100 years earlier
when I was a teen I would have said "what's a portable phone?"
RIGHT?!?!
@@bkmeahan Exactly, we had a cordless phone in the house and even that was cool at the time.
What a time to be alive. Access to great guitar tones has never been easier.
Yet the world is burning more than ever...
@@RumpleStiltzkin-bu5he edgy
@Cxdyy maybe, but its facts mmmmkay.
@@RumpleStiltzkin-bu5he we have less wars than ever
@Cxdyy that doesnt mean that different countries societies havent broken down.
That's a hell of a paint job on that guitar. I like it.
I was thinking the same thing. Was actually scrolling through the comments to see if anybody else noticed it, lol!
probably a vinyl graphic, but yea, I agree it's cool.
I like it, but that color scheme makes me think of Machine Gun Kelly now.
That pink guitar is fn deadly bro
Let's be honest....we'd all have KILLED for this tone 30 years ago when we were rocking Crate GTX and Peavey Bandit amps....these little boss emulators are light years ahead of even most of the good tube amps available then (JCM 900, etc)
JCM900 is bogus and Peavey Bandits are amazing
These tones are better than they should be. Record full albums with this, good to go.
I kill for this tone even today. It's insane
To be honest, I'm not even sure what constitutes a "truly great tone" from something like this unit anymore. I mean... does it lie in the complexity of the tone? I think this sounds fine really... It's more of a taste thing now, I think.
Oh man that Crate GX15. It sounded like cr*p. Having used unreliable fender stuff for the past decade, I'm loving my Katana 50 mkii. This little katana go looks great!
So, BOSS basically updated the Pocket GT by removing the need for an instrument cable, ditched the hard buttons for more "on phone" control, added dedicated bass amps, upgraded from micro-USB to USB-C, and it retails for less than the Pocket GT did. Excellent work, Roland/BOSS. One company that isn't trying to screw the consumer. They continue to prove themselves again and again.
Now, I need to add one to my current Roland/BOSS amps.
Bro digital stuff is getting so good
God damn that opening riff is awesome!
Extreme riffage
I thought the same thing as soon as he started playing I said you sold it
Ola is the reason i wanted a katana to begin with. I'm still very happy with my mk1 50w
Mk1 50 watt combo is a nasty Amp! I fucking love mine! I was torn between that and the fender bassbreaker, and I'm just so glad I made the choice I made!
I tried them, like the artist model and felt it lacked resonance or just sound stage though, it was more cut sound. I did mess with it a bit, couldn't for too long in store. But got DT25 instead as I tried it after heh.
These headphone amps are awesome. I bought a Fender Mustang when I was deployed and it saved me. These are great sounding tones for the product.
Having worked on it, I'm glad you liked it, and I might get myself one, too ^^
Lost it when Ola started singing to the device trying to test the tuner 😂
He was re calibrating the tuner
Thank you ola. I was looking into one of these for teaching. Easy to transport. Was awaiting you review as your the only gear reviewer I trust. Keep up the good work!!!
Yes it will be easy for you to carry to your lesson. If your teacher has a Bluetooth speaker it will be excellent.
But, if my tutor came to my door with one, I'd start looking for a better teacher. Far too complicated and expensive to be waving in students faces. Sets a poor example of Gear Acquisition Syndrome that is a cancer in the music learning industry.
@@carnage77 this is like a $120 piece of gear. If you think this is too complicated and expensive, what do you recommend for a cheaper less complex amplification option? My guitar teacher back in the day had a fender twin reverb and this thing costs less than a set of tubes would for that old amp.
@@carnage77 This is one of the highest quality options out there for a not used product in this price range, what are you talking about? This is practically as affordable as it gets without going into the used/preowned market. (And that's not to mention the fact this is a portable “amp” that comes with most of the features of a standard Katana for like $200 - $300+ less)
I watched all the drop day videos and immediately pre-ordered one. It will be here on Saturday. One day before my 54th B'day. I can tell you right now, back in the day, we couldn't even imagine anything like this existing. Of course, there was no internet, no cell phones, and no digital anything either. What a great time to be a guitar player.
The best time for guitarists.
Happy birthday bro
@@dizzy7454, thank you.
Just got one of these yesterday and blown away by it! I can now practice downstairs properly. It's not replacing my Kemper stack but for downstairs and portability it is a fantastic device. Wish I had one years ago.
Downstairs?

Boss gear is awesome, the Boss Katana 100w even has a FR input, works insane with modelers.
love this little thing, i want one!
Man, you really know how to make the most of that small unit huh... I share a similar talent
I love it. Imma jump on one of these. Great demo Ola. Keep the chugalug alive.
You're the only dude I listen to with gear reviews. If something can play metal, it can do anything.
Looks great. I have the fender micro and it's legit one of the best products for practicing. This looks like the step up I've been patiently waiting for.
At these price points anyone playing needs one. Great to use in shops trying gear for consistency plus you just always have an amp on you if you want that.
I wish this was available when I began my guitar journey! This little gadget is super cool and I might buy it for whenever I'm traveling.
Will it chug and Ola testing shit are my favorite video types.
I was wearing my Klipsch earphones for the video and it made a world of difference over the 1st time I watched with my smartphone speaker. I actually want one of these now!
What a time to be a starting guitarist. I’d had killed for this when I was a kid.
About time we got a pink solar guitar 🔥
sounds awesome! im thinking this would be useful while travelling or somewhere where you cant be loud and stuff. PRETTY COOL!
First video I watched made me think "hmmm, kinda cool, might need one"
Seeing it in Ola's hands has me more like "yup, ordering one now"
You did miss one of the key features, you can load up/stream a song or youtube vid of a song into the device via the app - to then play over. And you can also set loop markers so you can practice over a specific part of it. Its like the ultimate 'learner/beginner' practice amp.
What i did not understand is. U can play through this via phone speaker. Or do i need separate speakers?
I find it is useful for practice right before a show or at the hotel the night before ! I also think they should make it to where you can put in your own backing tracks to play along to for practice !
Couldn't imagine this little and power thing when I was playing with a Korg 1500G and an unbranded amp 20 years ago.
I like how You are playing sort of Glam/Hair Metal guitar riffs, as I also really like that genre of Metal as well! 😊
I’ve watched a lot of these videos and no one even mentioned that you can also use it for bass. Which is why I got it. 🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽
I saw andertons video on it and they actually did put it into bass mode and show it off a little.
reminds me of the line6 amplifi series. It's not updated anymore but it does the job for someone like me.
So impressed with your demo I checked my local stores to go pick one up only to find they are sold out...now I wait
That is my favorite Solar guitar so far!
Regarding using Bluetooth earbuds, they have horrible latency. About rhe best you can get with modern Bluetooth codecs is 40 ms and most are far more than this.
I believe the Apple Airpods have at least 130ms latency, and usually a lot higher.
That's unusable for playing guitar.
I bought one. The Bluetooth feature is great playing any audio into the unit and jamming over or with
Wish he mentioned this. Was gonna say its kinda pointless or at least lacking a lot fun without having something to play over/with.
@@jacobfife7273yes it’s a huge part of the product. Just listening to podcasts and jamming is good enough. The app also has its own playlist feature where you can import UA-cam or web links and save them for later in a handy little list
Incredible tech for the price. What a great practice tool.
oh wow, that pink X solar is beautiful !!
H-mo
@@RumpleStiltzkin-bu5heI have some pink guitars. And I think Tainá Bergamaschi is a hottie! 🥰😍😁
@drippinglass doesnt mean youre not a fruit.
@@RumpleStiltzkin-bu5he Glenn Greenwald is… my favorite journalist. 👍😎
@@RumpleStiltzkin-bu5he yes
Yes I'm wearing Headphones, and that panning sounded cool.
Bro bro, I've been patiently waiting to see a pink type X and that baby doesn't disappoint! Hell yeah! 🤘
This is so cool and it actually sounds decent too 🔥
As for the 2nd gen of this or if this thing will gonna have a "PRO MAX" version, I don't mind having a wireless receiver that can be connected to any speaker (including headphones) as long as it uses 2.4g wireless so that the latency can be as low as possible unlike audio over bluetooth.
Just what ive been looking for. Thanks
I wish it had a short cable between the input and the unit. If the unit had a belt clip, you could wear it on your strap like a wireless. I'm sure it's light, but imo it's in the way.
I bought something very similar from another brand last year and it sounded great and worked like advertised… but I never use it. The only intriguing part of the Katana for me would be the acoustic amp model because the one on the Katana Air is very good and I use it all the time. But I can’t imagine needing the Go for anything unless I were routing it into a larger amp, in which case it might make more sense to just get one of their combo amps.
Great review, sounds great too!
I have the Fender Mustang Micro and I love that thing; I might try this as well, seeing as it seems to have better heavy tones than the Mustang.
Thank you for posting this!!!
I want one now, Looks like fun
Neat, reminds me of the NUX Mighty Plug Pro.
Turn the cab simulation down for the live tone and get a splitter for the headphones. Thanks for sharing
What a guitar dude. Also this Katana Go is useful af
the thing is, you can import patches made for the MK1 and MK2 katana amps, it's even more versatile than you saw from it.
The Go is the NO bluetooth option and the Ones with headphones and wireless unit are totally for the wireless side added
Always love the thrash intros 🤙🏻
My katana 50 is such a game changer for a good tone on a budget. Id have killed for an amp this good when i first started playing. Im sure this katana go is pretty dang good for just practicing on the road or practicing when you need to play quietly
I have the Fender one that is the same concept without edits. I use it 90% of the time when I play. I’ll get this one too.
This actually sounds pretty damn good and for a practice situation is more than good enough.
Cool use case for these plug-amps is that you can get a small bluetooth speaker and clip it to your belt or strap, and connect this to that as a tiny little portable rig.
Man, that Solar X Type is gorgeous. Literally the only reason I don't own one already is because I really dislike the placement of the output jack. But with a finish like that you make it really hard not to cave.
There is no better time to start playing a guitar than right now. It's an insane technology.
I want one just because I hear I could plug it into my phone and record riff ideas and stuff...no other pedals, no amp, no mics, nothing. Just that thing, a cable, a guitar and my phone. Handy!!
Love the pink guitar!!!!
Looks very similar to the Fender Mustang Micro, with the Boss Katana flavor mixed in.
Awe man! That reminds me of the ole pocket rocket from the 90’s.
I’ve been waiting for this. Mine is scheduled to arrive on Monday.😖😖😖😖😖. It’s only 8 hours away. Most every demo has little to no metal.
I might have to get one. I have a need to be able to practice quietly. I work graveyard and when I get home early in the morning my family is asleep. This would be very helpful for me.
yo i have spatial sound on with headphones and heard the guitar shift from left to right when you changed the position thats wild.
The review we've waited for!
I got one two weeks ago and I love it, i have it set up through my Marshall staxx and it chugs like a m. F, er
Sounded pretty good really
I think it sounds sick! That's a little badass!
Very cool! Might have to grab one
❤
DAAAAAMN THE TES V SHIRT IS CRAAAAAZYY I LOVE THAT GAME
these pocket amps are also awesome for busking, just blugin via aux to any amp or pa with battery suply
I'm usually not into pink guitars but this one looks great!
A really great practice tool !
Never been a fan of explorer models bud daaaamn this Solar looks sweet
Its actually more like an ML since it has the lower back wing like an ML, pretty cool.
@@Stefan- You´re tight man. This color scheme really suits it and looks awesome!
That nonchalant squeal RULES. Anyway Ola, I came to say something obvious, but maybe still not said enough. Among other things you brought to my guitar playing Renaissance when you started making videos and then brought us Solar; the way you introduced me/all of us to Evertune has been maybe the best thing to encourage my improved and expanded playing. Apart from that, you introduced me to Neural DSP and plug-ins generally; and with that my exponentially more creative playing and enjoyment from it. I'll be 60 in a month, and truly, being your online buddy, customer and 'student,' has added lots of real tangible fun and way more produced music to my life. You mean an lot to a lot of people around the world, and none more than me. ❤
Sounds surprisingly good!!
I'd be interested if it would be possible to control the presets / sounds / effects from a DAW through that USB port 🤔
I've bought and used the Vox Brian May plug, but I put it into the output of my pedals (tuner, overdrive, compressor) so these pedals then sit *before* the amp modeller.... And thát can be plugged into the return of a real amp 😜
Definitely interested in this Katana Go!
This has that perfect AC/DC tone.
Cant wait for them to come oit with something for bass! Boss is killing it with the katana series. So much tone for the price
This is also compatible with bass.
That's the third UA-cam channel that I'm seeing this on. I already bought an Electro-Harmonix headphone amp for my at home bass. Sounds good through my AKG K240 headphones. Of it's not as fancy as the Katana Go
Pretty good review. My initial reaction was: Why is this not in the "Will It Chug" series? After watching this, trying to get it to chug in 20 seconds is not what this is designed for. It is a very interesting product, that I am looking forward to buying.
I think maybe you can do Bluetooth in, but not out? Guess the "stage" mode is kind of nice when you're playing along to stuff via USB etc?
This looks great for home practice, but it reminds me of the Marshall Code that I bought for the same purpose. It had some great tones in it, but honestly was completely overwhelming due to so many options, sounds and variables to play with. I got rid of it because instead of actually playing guitar I just played with the settings for an hour. In that sense these types of tools are a barrier to actually playing
That guitar...such understated very taste wow :p
always running my audio through my interface and using cans to listen and when you started messing with position it freaked me out. true stereo for sure.
Not usually a fan of pointy guitars and flashy colors but that thing looks pretty sick!
maybe it should be pointed out that devices similar to this do exist for more than a decade, what this brings as extra is the extended configurability via the phone app.
It’d be interesting to have a review on other portable units, or even the top apps for iPhones.
Slime green on pink would b3 the sickest canibalismo!!!
Damn... Boss just created something that will kill all small amp...
Sick 🔥
If it had a built-in mp3 player to play a song or drums in the background, for example, which could be controlled via a mobile app, that would be great. Before a show it would be nice to warm up using this device. I hope the updated version will have this feature.
Is is really much of a difference if the MP3 comes from the device or is streamed from your phone to your Katana go via BT?
@@Traumglanz Does the Katana Go have that function ? Streaming audio via BT from a smartphone ?
@@rusty_wd Yes. And also you can set points in a song to automatically change presets.
Like rhythm to lead for a solo or clean to crunch etc.
It has tuner! That’s a buy for me!
