Kinda’ fun to hear you guys amazed with the fact original brands and shopping exists in Belgrade and Serbia 😅. Belgrade alone has around 15 large shopping malls with more international brands than one can find in many western countries. Other than that Belgrade is such a lively and vibrant city with so much to see, taste and experience. Also a city that is growing in size and popularity every year, with notably more and more tourists discovering it. It’s a hidden gem of Europe, which only remains hidden due to the fact that people have prejudices about the place which are, needless to say, completely wrong. Regardless, I enjoyed your video and hope that you’re enjoying the city as much as I did, when I visited it a few years back.
I know what you mean, the food on offer in restaurants can be a bit repetative in all Balkan countries. Serbs definitely love and know how to grill meat, but the best traditional dishes are actually made at home. Unfortunately, not many restaurants offer them on their menus. Dishes like: sarma, podvarak, slatki kupus, pasulj/bean stew, punjena paprika, goulash, paprikash, boranija, djuvec, muckalica, pilav, cufte u sosu, kolaci, torte, krofne, gomboce, gibanica, etc, are a real treat.
Another great video!!! My wife and I both watched it and we could fully appreciate the satisfaction you both had after finally getting the taste of traditional North American fast food !
Zdravo Jay and Sarah! Love your videos ❤and hope to watch all of them. As an American, married to a Serbian woman and living in Serbia now for 4 years, it's great to see your impressions of this beautiful country. Belgrade is great, but I hope you can get out of Belgrade a little and see the "real" Serbia. I doubt most Serbs would consider their country to be richer economically than Croatia or Slovenia. As far as Serbia being more expensive than the coastal/tourist areas of Montenegro, we have found the opposite. But maybe Belgrade, as it's known to be considerably more expensive than the rest of Serbia. Glad you found some "back home" food, but hope you will experience some traditional Serbian food like sarma, punjene paprike, pasulj, and of course--for meat lovers--pecenija and rostilj which is everywhere. Looking forward to more videos!
Thanks! We did what we could in our limited time there between other things. It was a visit to see a Canadian friend who was born in Serbia and went home to visit friends, so we headed over to see him overseas.
This area where you were walking it's the most expensive. If you move 15/20 minutes from that area to Voždovac and Banjica, you will find cheaper prices and better food 😊
@@JayandSarahBelgrade has become expensive in the last couple of years. Though nowhere near famous spots in western Europe. No-brand fast food burger/grill market in Serbia is one of the best in the world, its huge and potent, serbian "pleskavica" is 2 x cheaper and 3x bigger and 5x tastier than brand burger, so McDonald's in Serbia is actually promoting its Mccoffee branch...
Never said it was the best. I’ve ate so much pljeskavica in the last several months living here. It was the novelty of finding a McDonald’s finally after many months. This is not about eating Serbian food. We can eat that at thousands of places..

You might think that, but it's actually not true. Our waitress at our local Serbian cafe said many locals go there, and in fact - she confessed to loving the chicken McNuggets.
The point was to compare what the product is like compared to in North America. I think we've ate enough pljeskavica, stuffed burgers and cevapi to last for a long time. Thanks for watching.
We didn't come to Belgrade to eat McDonalds, you are missing the premise of that section of the video. It's not idiotic, it served the purpose of our story living in the Balkans for the last half year. @@eelmohamed thank you! We just left there a few weeks ago. We've been to 2 more countries since!
You made me laugh , with stratigic movement , becouse that exact comment i commented fer days ago, i sad to mu friend , that nobody is out, and you have to , like in trose postapocaliptic movies , you have to walk carefuly , couse if son gets you you die.
Exactly! See we think alike. Glad you enjoyed the video and had a bit of a laugh. I like to make video with observation about things. This is my retirement hobby, to make travel video about our lives. Sometimes ordinary stuff, sometimes not so ordinary.
only tourists eat mc donald in serbia
You might think that, but it's actually not true. Our waitress at our local Serbian cafe said many locals go there, and in fact - she confessed to loving the chicken McNuggets.
Ok,you go to Serbia and eat McDonald's 😅😅😅😅
disappointing
Yes of course, why not. Hadn't seen one in several months of travel. We had enough local traditional food to last a lifetime thanks.
Wow MC cancer and you have local stuffed burger to eat??
The point was to compare what the product is like compared to in North America. I think we've ate enough pljeskavica, stuffed burgers and cevapi to last for a long time. Thanks for watching.
came to Serbia to eat mcdonalds is idiotic sorry...
We didn't come to Belgrade to eat McDonalds, you are missing the premise of that section of the video. It's not idiotic, it served the purpose of our story living in the Balkans for the last half year. It was lost on you, it appears to have zoomed right over your head while not paying attention to the script. Pay attention to the plot, you might figure it out. Have a nice day, thanks for watching. You sound ignorant.
Once I see any Russian writings, or any Russian related things anywhere, I just say no Spasiba Comrade.
There are Russian flags all over Belgrade, even the city legislature has Serbian and Russian flags all around it. There is a strong connection between these two countries historically.
Niste prikazali ništa bitno.Ni spomenika,ni arhitekture,ni istorije a ni prave hrane.Šetate bez cilja po Beogradu.Glup video.
Our channel is about our lives as full time travellers. It doesn't need to show anything important, this is not a paid public service for Belgrade.
Odvratno je biti tako maliciozan.
@@vickoslavkovic2593 Malicious? You are the one who is rude.
@@JayandSarahThanks for that, and I tried to defend you.
oh my I am so sorry, I mistook you as the initial person who posted the rude comment. completely my mistake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thank you for coming to our defense, her comment was really nasty and there was no need for it.
Omg u came to Serbia so u can eat at Mac and Chinese food...
You go to North America for half a year and find a Cevapi place and see what you do. Thanks for watching. That's not all we ate by the way... we have been in the Balkans for half a year already. Eating Cevapa and Goulash at this point is not something.
@@JayandSarahtry "punjena pljeskavica" or "vešalica u maramici". Both can be found in many if not most Serbian fast food joints.
