@Yergati Yes, it is. We were SO pleasantly surprised by Belgrade. The month we spent there was filled with things to see and do. We both love history, so it was wonderful getting to know Belgrade Serbia better.
@@helenastevic1975 That's the exact conversation that my wife and I had about the 'underrated gem' descriptor. I was concerned about using terms that locals might find offensive. Cost of living is sky rocketing, overwhelming inflation for food and rent with useless ever expanding water front that isn't for 99.5% of locals, terrible air pollution, polluted rivers, outdated, inefficient/slow public transit, massive traffic during rush hour, tons of corruption (and lots of protests currently). Some things are hidden for a reason but not because they are a "gem". Easy to be a visitor with rose colored glasses when you don't stay long enough to see the challenges that would encourage you to take them off.
That's a fair point of view for someone who has lived there for quite some time to make. As for cost of living and inflation, that's worldwide no matter where you go. I would agree that the air quality could be better, but again, we've also been to other places that are way more atrocious than anything Belgrade had going. Same with the pubic transport. Other places are way worse than what we experienced in Belgrade. So as you have correctly pointed out to me, it's all a matter of perspective and experience in multiple places. I do hope that things find a way to get better for you and others in Belgrade regarding those problems.
