- Unboxing the Nothing Phone 2, an upgraded smartphone boasting fresh camera hardware and boosted specs vs the original handset. However, the Nothing Phone 2 will also cost you more in the UK, starting from £579 - and here's a full tour ahead of my review, showing off those fresh features.
This 2023 model isn't just more expensive, it's also bigger at 6.7-inches, with a redesigned Glyph lighting rig. In Nothing OS 2.0 you'll find lots of new tools to make use of the disco back, plus a fresh new monotone setup. The Nothing Phone 2 is fun to use, and you can see more on the software in my tips and tricks guide.
That camera now rocks an IMX890 sensor, same as the OnePlus Nord 3, with improved HDR abilities and boosted video recording. Gamers will appreciate the extra grunt too, courtesy of the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. A chipset we've known would be stuffed inside of the Nothing Phone 2 for some time now.
My review will reveal more on that smartphone's performance as well as the battery life and camera action. That's coming on Thursday, but for now here's a full hands-on with this impressive mobile, certainly one of the more unique smartphones of 2023. The phone's dead on arrival for most people already because of the pricing. One Plus started its decline when they started caring more about branding and looking hip than what their userbase wanted.
It didn't take long for Nothing to follow OnePlus' footsteps.
Both look awesome, but I went with white, it just looks more futuristic to me. It's been awhile since I treated myself to a nice phone, I'm excited!

I bought the white as well. It reminds me of the early Iphone colours, which I really used to like. In general, I think the Nothing Phones are very influenced by early Iphone designs, in fact
I just love the look of the white model. The way the black camera modules contrast with the white back is more beautiful for me.

just came from jerryrigeverything channel and i must say boy that phone is one durable Brick! it took many seconds before the display showed burn marks and it did not even break in the bend test! not a trace of warping
Looks like a bloody awesome phone spurt! I'd say the 12+256GB set up will be a big seller at 629 here in the UK! Thats certainly a very tempting price for such good hardware!

One thing that stands out here is the option to have stock Android and Nothing phone customize version of Android OS. I'll love to own a phone that provides multiple options of the Android OS. Now that's Awesome!

I have the NP1 as my work phone. I like that they centered the front facing camera but I'm gonna stick with the S23 as my main phone now. I'm tired of using bigger devices.

I love everything about the phone 2 but im kinda sad about the IP rating, but at the same time cant really expect a high mid tear phone to have it all

Don't know if it'll upgrade to the 2, I'll wait and see the reviews first, check the Nothing OS 2.0 on my (1) and act accordingly. As a rule though, I rarely spend over €700 for a phone, and definitely not for an Android phone. Stepped off the iPhone plantation because of its ludicrous pricing anyway. Still, it's half the price of many flagships so steep but not extortionate.

Well, well, well. After watching the keynote earlier, and then this video, I think I made a good decision in holding fire replacing my Z Flip 4 with a Pixel 7.
Can you compare the cameras' of Nothing 2, Pixel 7a, and iPhone 14 base model
Was really looking forward to it releasing in North America but very disappointed with the price here in Canada.
Starts at CAD 929 for 8/128 all the way to CAD 1099 for 12/512

Had relatively high hopes for this but have to say I'm a bit disappointed. Hiked up the price by almost £180 and it still only has an IP 54 rating and last years flagship chip inside. The only real incentive is if you simply must have the glyph experience, but even that comes with the caveat of not being able to put a decent case on it, unless it's clear backed. For my own perspective, the glyphs just seem to be trying to solve an issue that doesn't exist. I can find out when my take away is about to be delivered from the front of the screen. Sorry, but for the price increase it simply doesn't offer enough of an improvement IMO. Pixel 7a seems the logical choice if you can live without the totally unnecessary glyph action.

An IP 68 rating and and the latest qualcomm chip would increase the price even further, so I don’t know what you’re on about. Even if it’s last year’s chip, it’s still way AHEAD of any 7 or 6 series chip or even a mediatek processor that has been used before.
@@zas_uf Exactly how far ahead of Googles Tensor 2 chip is the 8 gen1 though? From my first inspection it seems only slightly more powerful, yet the Google 7a can be bought for around £150 less and is IP 67. Not fully waterproof, but better than 54 ! It also has the best camera software in the game, and bone stock Android.
My gripe isn't necessarily just the ip rating or the chip alone, it's the complete package including relative cost. If you think it's fair, good for you 🙂, I however feel it's just a tad overpriced for what it brings to the table, especially as there are multiple other phones using the 8 gen 1 chip for sub £500, even sub £450 in some cases, if you feel the chip difference matters so much. IMO, they are charging crazy money for a phone who's main selling point is the Glyph ability, which IMO is just not useful enough to justify the price.
