This part of the series was made in the early 2000's and I forgot just how obvious that is in the wardrobe/makeup department. 6. Jackie didn't get resolution because she's a recurring secondary character that we already knew and see plenty more of. 7. This was a terrible episode choice for trying to get someone into the show but a great choice for an April Fools joke. 8. I agree with a lot of other people that Blink is a much better intro episode. You don't know how long I have been wanting for someone to watch doctor who. This episode is definitely not one of the worse you could have watched. But to make it less confusing you'd have to start from the beginning of new who which would be Eccleston's Era. Remember doctor who isn't funded that much so the crew have to work with what they have.
Danny has a point about the wall though. That wouldn’t have been that hard. Before the revival the sets and the aliens were all built. That’s why the Daleks look like they do. They were a bit lazy on the design because they didn’t expect people to like the sci-fi elements. The episode with them wasn’t even supposed to air, but they didn’t have the planned episode ready in time. Now they’re the series’s most iconic antagonists.
Yeaaah many people have forgotten this, but the first Russell T Davies era of Doctor Who was quite the emotional rollercoaster of highs and lows. Danny just did a speedrun of what the fandom went through.
This is not the worst episode of Doctor Who... That goes to Orphan 55 or some other episode from season 11/12. Love and Monsters is amazing compared to that. Even if it was considered the worst episode for long time. Also would love a proper Doctor Who reaction series starting with Eccleston Doctor. 6:10 Because she also has a face of Moaning Myrtle. It is the actress who played Myrtle. 12:00 Tbh, as Jackie is actually one of the secondary cast for that season (she is the mother of lead girl) this being really nice episode for her. Showing how bad it is for the family of Doctor's companions. Even if episode itself is cookie AF. 13:35 Fun fact, the main monster of this episode was actually designed by a kid in a contest like 15 years ago. And the main reason people hate this episode, is because it's so different from all of the other episodes. It not only focuses on random dude, but it also has narration from him and unusual camera work. And obviously over the top campy, badly comedic script. 16:00 I hope next April Fools he makes you watch Blink, which is also another "non-Doctor" episode, but it's one of the best episodes overall. And it's less confusing. Or Midnight - that's also a peak of like early seasons of New Who.
Damn, that was interesting to read through. Thanks for the insight! I wanted to start watching the show too, but it’s not easy to decide where to start.
Bruh I do t even think this is a bad episode gets a 9 out of 10 from me 😭 it's a lovely bit of comic relief, and shows the world from Jackie's point of view and how losing her daughter to explore time and space made her feel, never knowing if she would ever call back or even come back cause she has almost died so many times.
I remember this episode haha I don't think it's the absolute worst episode personally but i remember definitely having to pause atleast 5 times to take a break from cringing lol Also that mannequin mention is a reference to one of the first episodes, if not the first episode of the series, all of those moments are references to episodes, so its fun seeing the utter shock on Danny's face
I'd honestly love to see more episodes of Doctor Who being reacted too. Like the werewolf episode with the Queen, or the vampires in Venice episode. Oh! Or the gameshow episode with Jack Harkness, for obvious reasons. Plus episodes with characters like the sexy tree lady, and the bitchy trampoline. Along with episodes of certain enemies, such as the Daleks, Cybermen, Weeping Angels, and the Silence. Honestly don't need to have the whole series be watched, or even most of it. But a random video like this one would be fun and interesting to see every now and then.
There are so many things I want to say about this: A) my favorite channel is watching my favorite show B) This episode is not the best to start on. Definitely start at the beginning with “Rose” C) for context, the bizarre openings were alien attacks on the planet from previous episodes. D) PLEASE watch more Dr. Who! This show is so good it’s been going on since film-actually not a joke. The first doctor was in black and white on film and it has been continuing since then.
The reason why the Doctor isn't in the episode much is because each season has one or two "Doctor-light" episodes to give the leads some time off. A great standalone episode that's worth checking out is "Midnight" from the fourth season. It's incredibly tense and poignant.
Doctor Who is one of the most entertaining shows ever. In one show you get horrible jokes, bad writing and bad production to make fun of. And wacky concepts that can be kinda fun and every now and then an actually good scary episode. Wild show
This episode isn’t the worst episode ever, But it isn’t the one I’d show someone to get into the show, THE WORST PART ANOUT IT BEING SOMEONE’S FIRST IS THAT THE DOCTOR IS BARELY IN IT!!! But some how Danny made me love this episode-
Tears shot out of my eyes while I laughed at this! Tom is a legend for getting you to react to Doctor Who, I wish there would be more of this! Now to share with everyone!
This is legit one of my favorate episodes (yeah I know people hate it) and it's hilarious to see someone have to watch it without context or anything. We should have him react to torchwood now, like Kiss Kiss Bang or Dead Man walking.
I didn’t even know this vid existed, just came from the first good omens video and I started crying with laughter when I realised that the absorbaloff was Danny’s first ever interaction with Dr Who
Knowing the ending to this as Danny is freaking out over how cute Elton and Ursula are, it's very funny. And all the talk about exploring the characters as our two main characters are barely in the episode is so great
oh my god i think this was one of the first doctor who episodes i saw as a little kid bc it disturbed me to my core 😭😭 had me wondering wtf kind of show my dad was watching but then i ended up seeing a bunch of other episodes and was like oh shit this is kind of good (still scares me tho)

sdklfdasjldask THANK YOU FOR REACTING TO THIS. I know you hated this but as a Doctor Who fan who was also horrified by this, I loved seeing your reaction to this truly iconic (not in a good way) episode. I laughed so much seeing how you reacted, especially the moments where you still had hope for the episode
As a british person, fan of doctor who and David Tennant. This episode is one of my favourites. And watching my favourite reactor watch it and possible hate it, is someone i have dreamed of
There was some contest for kids to invent their own Doctor Who "monster", and the winning kid got something (dunno what), but the end result was they would take the kid's idea/drawing and turn it into an episode. The monster: something big and green that absorbs it's victims and their faces appear in the monster's flesh. Anyway, this is one of those "lite" episode of doctor who, in which the main cast of characters don't appear as much. It gives the actors a bit of a break/rest between filming, or if an actor has work to do on another show and has to split up the work, this kind of thing helps them do it, or when they film two episodes at once, Such as Midnight and Turn Left. I enjoyed watching your reaction, but I guess we're two totally different people. I enjoyed the series and started with the first season starring Christopher Eccleston, and worked my way up to the current season. I think of movies and tv shows as "not real" and therefore most stuff doesn't phase me, but then again I don't watch genuine horror movies. I'm more into action/adventure or comedies. I know they use stunt doubles and special effects and makeup. Hell, you are reading this from someone who grew up watching The Neverending Story, and who was NOT traumatized by the scene everyone says traumatizes them. (Mind you, as a kid, I so wished I could ride on Falkor's back like Bastian did at the end of the film, that would have been so cool.) I enjoy Doctor Who, and this episode is one I've seen before and usually skip if I rewatch the season. I think Tom showed you this because it showed elements of previous episodes in it (Mannequins, spaceship crashing into Big Ben, window shattering) hoping to get you interesting in watching the rest, but it's a lot to go through, believe me. My favorites have to be David Tennant and Peter Capaldi, and I did like Jodie Witttaker and I also enjoyed Matt Smith. If I had to pick a favorite episode, I couldn't just pick one, however I could pick a favorite episode (or two if it's a two parter) from each season. Most people also agree that these are probably the best episodes, so I'd give these a watch: S1: The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances S2: The Girl in the Fireplace S3: Blink S4r: (I have multiple favorites here) The Unicorn and the Wasp, Silence in the Library (pt1), Forest of the Dead (pt2) (Although I almost consider them to be a 3 parter because the first deals with a famous writer, the other two a library, so they almost go hand in hand, at least to me. Actually season 4 is my favorite.) S5: Vincent and the Doctor S6: Let's Kill Hitler S7: The Bells of Saint John S8: In the Forest of the Night S9: Heaven Sent S10: Thin Ice S11: Kerblam! S12: Spyfall (parts 1 and 2) S13: Can't pick a favorite, this season is six episodes long, and they all string together like a very long movie, one big arc no standalone episodes. S14: Rogue So that's my list. If you were to only watch an episode or two of Doctor Who from each season I'd recommend those. The episode you watched here was the winning entry of an art contest that also served as a lite episode of the series, and really, it's not the best. A lot of people actually contend that it's one of the worst episodes, but I can't entirely hate it since it brought a kid's idea to life in a tv show. Hope you do sit down and watch the entire series sometime, but I imagine you probably won't. I enjoy the witty humor, the fact the Doctor can talk his way out of trouble in most cases, and the stories, especially ones involving history such as authors and historical figures (Vincent) and paradoxes (Blink, and Before the Flood "This is the Bootstrap Paradox... Google it." I love that line) Anyway, enough yapping from me, go watch some Doctor Who.
You poor man... I am so sorry. It traumatized all of us when it came out. If you ever decide to try Doctor Who again, as unlikely as that is after all that, I recommend The 11th Hour. It's one of my favorites by far.
As someone who grew up watching Dr.Who and absolutely loving your content, especially the witty reviews, I am enterally grateful for Tom suggesting 🙏🏽 😭 Please PLEASE consider doing some other episodes on your other channel 💕🥺👉🏼👈🏼
You should watch Blink! Like, it’s another doctor who one-off episode, but it’s like universally believed to be the best episode ever! It’s genuinely amazing, and maybe it’ll help wash the taste of this away!
Easily the best reaction yet, pleeeeeeeeeeease do more! Honestly, I could watch you react to the phone book. So if you feel like branching away from anime again, I'll be here ❤
I watch all of your anime reactions and it honestly made me so happy to see you reacting to doctor who! This is indeed one of the worst episodes, I rewatched the show so many times yet the last time I saw this episode was a decade ago, it's so so bad, but really you should try watching a few other episodes. That feeling that you got from caring about the characters just gets stronger, specially with the main cast. A lot of people are talking about Blink and it's probably one of the best "starter" episodes, and even though it's old, it's pretty good. You do have to break that first "weird" barrier if you ever actually get into the show to get used to it, kind of like when you start watching anime, because it is really weird lol but it gets extremely good I promise! It's kind of painful to see this as one of your first contacts with this show. However, if you do want something worse and crazier to react to, try Torchwood (it's a spinoff, kind of like the "adult version" of doctor who, you can guess what kind of stuff happens in it lol)
Late to this video, but Danny, you NEED TO KNOW that Christmas Specials are the craziest thing in Doctor Who. So much of the show is travelling through space and time and for a few years in a row the Christmas Specials were all set in modern-day London. It got to the point that in one Christmas Special the streets of London were a ghost town on Christmas Eve because everyone assumed that some crazy alien invasion was going to happen AGAIN and decided to either bunker down at home or leave town entirely until it was over. Also, if you thought the romantic subplot in this was cute until the alien ruined it, Blink would BREAK YOU. As for why this episode was made and why it's the way it is...it's the first of what is now known as a "Doctor-lite" episode. Basically for financial or scheduling reasons, they couldn't get the main cast members available to shoot a whole episode, so they made a one-off episode of different characters where the Doctor is still relevant to the events, but not present for most of it.
i think i would pass away if danny reacting to a holiday themed doctor who episode became a thing (eg blink for halloween, any christmas one for christmas, etc) 10/10 loved this sm
I was not expecting you to watch doctor who I love doctor who so much and I already know at it's best it is the most chaotic thing ever so beware of its worst Also if you wanna know the best episode of doctor who it's probably the wedding of river song episode If you watch that you'll be confused for life but at least itll be funny as hell
Wedding of River Song is good but to introduce him I’d say Blink. You can watch that one as a one off to introduce you to the series - that’s how I got into DW.
Me: “Danny’s reacting to that terrible episode of Doctor Who!” My husband: “That one that ends with the guy fucking a floor tile?” *Danny reaction to that moment being worse than death; I’m dying laughing* My husband: “YES! That is the absolute correct response! . . . I’m actually really proud of myself for calling that.”
OMG. Worst ever episode of Doctor Who!!! Tom must surely have known that and sent it as joke. A lot of the events you don’t understand are flashbacks to previous episodes of Doctor Who. The monster design was created by a child who won a competition (prize being to have their monster design in an episode of Who). Jackie is very popular pre-existing character (we all know who her daughter is too). Some of her lines are more poignant than you know. Occasionally, episodes like this are created to save budget and time because the actors are working on an expensive double episode.
To answer Danny's Question: Yes there is a plot and the biggest plot point is something known as "The Time War." The accidents Elton was speaking of with the mannequins and spaceships are references to previous events within the series that have either one or more episodes dedicated to them.

If you look to the right you can see the wild Whoeon, in it’s natural habitat of the internet. Truly a majestic creature
Damn, that was interesting to read through. Thanks for the insight! I wanted to start watching the show too, but it’s not easy to decide where to start.
@@enbygamer start from the beginning. Its not like other shows where it starts slow
why wait for april fools 2024, make him watch blink for halloween
@@enbygamer Start with the 9th Doctor (Christopher Eccleston) The first episode is called “Rose”
I remember this episode haha
I don't think it's the absolute worst episode personally but i remember definitely having to pause atleast 5 times to take a break from cringing lol
Also that mannequin mention is a reference to one of the first episodes, if not the first episode of the series, all of those moments are references to episodes, so its fun seeing the utter shock on Danny's face
Mannequins was the first episode
I'd honestly love to see more episodes of Doctor Who being reacted too. Like the werewolf episode with the Queen, or the vampires in Venice episode. Oh! Or the gameshow episode with Jack Harkness, for obvious reasons. Plus episodes with characters like the sexy tree lady, and the bitchy trampoline. Along with episodes of certain enemies, such as the Daleks, Cybermen, Weeping Angels, and the Silence. Honestly don't need to have the whole series be watched, or even most of it. But a random video like this one would be fun and interesting to see every now and then.
2:55 the absolute look of horror on Danny’s face 💀
5:45
18:40
13:23
There are so many things I want to say about this:
A) my favorite channel is watching my favorite show
B) This episode is not the best to start on. Definitely start at the beginning with “Rose”
C) for context, the bizarre openings were alien attacks on the planet from previous episodes.
D) PLEASE watch more Dr. Who! This show is so good it’s been going on since film-actually not a joke. The first doctor was in black and white on film and it has been continuing since then.
Imagine Love and Monsters being one of your first interactions with Doctor who 😅😭😭😭
Danny: “Maybe he hand-picked a great episode…”
Tom, probably: 👀
The one thing I've learned from this is that out of Tom and Danny, Tom has the superior taste when it comes to non-anime related subjects
The reason why the Doctor isn't in the episode much is because each season has one or two "Doctor-light" episodes to give the leads some time off.
A great standalone episode that's worth checking out is "Midnight" from the fourth season. It's incredibly tense and poignant.
I feel like Danny would love the story of River and the doctor
Doctor Who is one of the most entertaining shows ever. In one show you get horrible jokes, bad writing and bad production to make fun of. And wacky concepts that can be kinda fun and every now and then an actually good scary episode. Wild show
This episode isn’t the worst episode ever,
But it isn’t the one I’d show someone to get into the show,
THE WORST PART ANOUT IT BEING SOMEONE’S FIRST IS THAT THE DOCTOR IS BARELY IN IT!!!
But some how Danny made me love this episode-
"ough...why am i feeling?" doctor who will do that to ya bud
Tears shot out of my eyes while I laughed at this! Tom is a legend for getting you to react to Doctor Who, I wish there would be more of this! Now to share with everyone!
Tom def got his revenge for Buddy Daddies
This is legit one of my favorate episodes (yeah I know people hate it) and it's hilarious to see someone have to watch it without context or anything. We should have him react to torchwood now, like Kiss Kiss Bang or Dead Man walking.
I didn’t even know this vid existed, just came from the first good omens video and I started crying with laughter when I realised that the absorbaloff was Danny’s first ever interaction with Dr Who
I would pay good money to watch you Watch Doctor Who and just experience every kind of emotion in the span of like 1 minute! 🤣🤣🤣 This was GOLD!
For real tho - react to Blink. It's a phenomenal episode
Knowing the ending to this as Danny is freaking out over how cute Elton and Ursula are, it's very funny. And all the talk about exploring the characters as our two main characters are barely in the episode is so great
Honestly I'd love to see you react to more Dr. Who episodes
First time I’ve gotten to a video this early, and it’s about one of my favourite shows of my childhood. You should definitely watch more of this
oh my god i think this was one of the first doctor who episodes i saw as a little kid bc it disturbed me to my core 😭😭 had me wondering wtf kind of show my dad was watching but then i ended up seeing a bunch of other episodes and was like oh shit this is kind of good (still scares me tho)
5:35 "Christmas day 8 30 in the morning" And the sun is streaming in the window. yeah right we are lucky to get sunrise by 9 30 in december!!!! Did the Dr shift the UK latitude as well that night 😅
sdklfdasjldask THANK YOU FOR REACTING TO THIS. I know you hated this but as a Doctor Who fan who was also horrified by this, I loved seeing your reaction to this truly iconic (not in a good way) episode. I laughed so much seeing how you reacted, especially the moments where you still had hope for the episode
PLEASE MORE DOCTOR WHO REACTIONS TO DO THE SHOW JUSTICE
A agree he but and nice pfp of bsd beast dazai
😂😂😂 as a DW fangjrl you had me cry laughing the whole episode 😂😂😂 I can’t believe Tom made you watch that one was an intro 😂😂😂
You now really need to watch the episode midnight! Another character focused episode!!
Now I want Danny to make a reaction series of Doctor Who. His reaction was hilarious.
And there’s so much of it he’d never run out of content lmao
As someone who’s never seen doctor who I am horrified and nauseous, let’s hope that the trauma isn’t long lasting.
As a british person, fan of doctor who and David Tennant. This episode is one of my favourites. And watching my favourite reactor watch it and possible hate it, is someone i have dreamed of
I totally forgot this episode had the flashbacks to previous episodes, Danny's confusion was simply perfect
I laughed so hard the entire time! I loved how you were speechless so many times throughout this!
This is actually a really fun concept for an episode, you should do more stuff like this lmao
I completely forgot this episode existed. 😂😂
I don't remember it being so horrifying. You should do Blink next.
Great video
(Mind you, as a kid, I so wished I could ride on Falkor's back like Bastian did at the end of the film, that would have been so cool.)
I enjoy Doctor Who, and this episode is one I've seen before and usually skip if I rewatch the season. Most people also agree that these are probably the best episodes, so I'd give these a watch:
S1: The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances
S2: The Girl in the Fireplace
S3: Blink
S4r: (I have multiple favorites here) The Unicorn and the Wasp, Silence in the Library (pt1), Forest of the Dead (pt2) (Although I almost consider them to be a 3 parter because the first deals with a famous writer, the other two a library, so they almost go hand in hand, at least to me. Actually season 4 is my favorite.)
S5: Vincent and the Doctor
S6: Let's Kill Hitler
S7: The Bells of Saint John
S8: In the Forest of the Night
S9: Heaven Sent
S10: Thin Ice
S11: Kerblam!
S12: Spyfall (parts 1 and 2)
S13: Can't pick a favorite, this season is six episodes long, and they all string together like a very long movie, one big arc no standalone episodes.
S14: Rogue
So that's my list. Google it." I love that line)
Anyway, enough yapping from me, go watch some Doctor Who.
I'd be so down for him to watch the rest of doctor who. I don't think it will happen but I'd love it
Coming back a year later and desperately wanting Danny to actually do a Dr Who reaction series for context.
You poor man... I am so sorry. It traumatized all of us when it came out. If you ever decide to try Doctor Who again, as unlikely as that is after all that, I recommend The 11th Hour. It's one of my favorites by far.
As someone who grew up watching Dr.Who and absolutely loving your content, especially the witty reviews, I am enterally grateful for Tom suggesting 🙏🏽
😭 Please PLEASE consider doing some other episodes on your other channel 💕🥺👉🏼👈🏼
Honestly would love to see you react to more doctor who! This series is a wild wonderful ride and will suck you in
It physically hurts still that this episode is the only Doctor Who you've seen.
You should watch Blink! Like, it’s another doctor who one-off episode, but it’s like universally believed to be the best episode ever! It’s genuinely amazing, and maybe it’ll help wash the taste of this away!
I saw the first second of this episode, realised which episode it was and said "oh no" out loud.
We need more Doctor Who reactions! Hahah this was fantastic! 😂😂
I absolutely want you to do midnight next, just rewatched it and I think you would love it.
Ik I'm a bit late, but the abzorbaloff was actually designed by a kid who watched the show. The kid won a competition and got to design an alien.
Loved the reactions😂😂😂😂, I really want to see him react to some other episodes of Doctor Who.
Okay but now I need you to see the actual good episodes cause Doctor Who has such a special place in my heart and I need you to see it 😩
Easily the best reaction yet, pleeeeeeeeeeease do more! Honestly, I could watch you react to the phone book. So if you feel like branching away from anime again, I'll be here ❤
I know it probably won't happen, but I would love it if Danny reacted to more Doctor Who, but some actually good episodes
Ngl, I really want Danny to react to a decent episode of Doctor who so it could really do the series justice
The episode of the mannequins is the very first one of the series (Nuwho). It's really stupid but it was a good era! Ecclestone was worth it.
Id actually pop off for more Danny reacting to more, better episodes
i think i would pass away if danny reacting to a holiday themed doctor who episode became a thing (eg blink for halloween, any christmas one for christmas, etc) 10/10 loved this sm
I'm DEEPLY upset that he chose this episode to show you 😭 like do blink or something goddamn
danny... i'm not even 2.5 minutes in and i feel called out for being a whovian who USED to wear a satchel covered in pins in highschool
Same!
I was not expecting you to watch doctor who
I love doctor who so much and I already know at it's best it is the most chaotic thing ever so beware of its worst
Also if you wanna know the best episode of doctor who it's probably the wedding of river song episode
If you watch that you'll be confused for life but at least itll be funny as hell
Wedding of River Song is good but to introduce him I’d say Blink. You can watch that one as a one off to introduce you to the series - that’s how I got into DW.
@@samanthaw3845 dont blink is also a really good one
I got into doctor who just cuz I lived in england it came on tv all the time
Me: “Danny’s reacting to that terrible episode of Doctor Who!”
My husband: “That one that ends with the guy fucking a floor tile?”
*Danny reaction to that moment being worse than death; I’m dying laughing*
My husband: “YES!
Need to watch one of the episodes with Weeping Angles. Those are fun horrific creatures.
I'm here for more dr who reactions-
To answer Danny's Question: Yes there is a plot and the biggest plot point is something known as "The Time War." The accidents Elton was speaking of with the mannequins and spaceships are references to previous events within the series that have either one or more episodes dedicated to them.
To be fair… this is a horrid DR WHO episode but seeing Danny’s reaction made it better 😂🤣😂
This? This is the first episode? I can't believe someone would purposefully send this to another person
Hot take: This episode WASNT THAT BAD! You should watch the show FROM THE BEGINNING!
