Fun fact: Ciel is not fifteen, he's twelve :D The maid girl with the glasses, Mey-Rin, is actually voiced by the same actress who did Kaede Kayano from AssClass. This is one of the series you're doing that I'm so impatient for more of! I was laughing the entire time, especially since Danny just thought Sebastian was a really good "human" butler.

The cook is american, the gardener is german and the maid is originally from china but came to england as a child. So yeah, almost none of them should have a british accent. xD
The dub voices for the servants are so funny since Mey rin is Chinese, Baldroy is American, and Tanaka is Japanese but all of them are given British accents. Finny also might not be British since he seems to have some sort of German background
The fact that you decide to watch this series almost immediately after I decide to get back into it after 13 years is both an incredible and haunting coincidence. Good to know that the universe wouldn't have let me escape even if I had tried to.
Small note about Sebastian's "catch phrase". In the original Japanese, when he says "I am simply one hell of a butler" it is written in the manga in hiragana. In this method, it can be read as either the "hell of a butler" or "demon and a butler" as they are pronounced the same way so the meaning really depends on the individual's interpretation, though how many normal everyday people would assume he is a demon? However, when he says "Demon and a butler", it is written in Kanji, denoting the specific interpretation that should be taken. This is one of the rare instances of something being a quirk of Japanese language actually being translated to English rather well, at least in my opinion.

I watch this show and suddenly I'm 16 again fangirling over Sebastian's and Ciel's relationship, trying to learn the lyrics to the opening and singing along to the ending at the top of my lungs. Black Butler may not be the best show ever, but it sure brings back memories
I feel like it needs to be mentioned that Ciel is twelve at the beginning of this and if I remember correctly turns thirteen sometime during the show but I can't recall if that's during the canon episodes or not.
This episode was the best so far (except for the Yuri on ice ofc) The joke I found the funniest was "oh I didn't realize this was a sexy negotiation. My bad, I just usually don't negotiate contracts buck naked and covered in feathers." The fact is that during this he doesn't know what was happening to Ciel in those moments makes it so funny 😭😭😂😂❤❤

This and Ouran were my two first anime (that also described my aesthetic at the time: girly and gothic) back when I was 14. I remember I had to keep this show secret because I was raised religious.
This is the BEST reaction video of a person watching Black Butler for the first time. First point, the Australian accent comes from the English one, so fair point. Secondly, 'some kind of demon, not a butler', Sebastian's catch phrase of dry wit is 'I am one hell of a butler'. It makes me laugh how on point you are so early on. Edit: I wheezed at 'you crumpet sucking freak!'
Danny, man, I'mma let you in on a little secret. Most of the "mundane" conversations are a metaphor for something else. Like the interaction between Sebastian and Ciel about the Italian tea. That was Ciel telling Sebastian to dispose of their "guest".
I remember when this first came out and it took the anime fandom by storm. I showed Black Butler to people who did not like anime and they thoroughly enjoyed it and they hung through it with Season 2. I know there are reasons to use the English dub instead of the original Japanese, but I feel like Ono Daisuke does an incredible job of being charming with a very unsettling menace just behind his tone that English doesn't quite catch. Can't wait to see you react to the rest of the season!

To keep with the manga part you would have to watch Season 1: ep 1-6 and 13-15 Book of circus all episodes Book of murder Book of atlantic All of this is part of the manga and should help make sense when season 4 comes out
I’m convinced the board game ciel and the Italian man are playing is some British version of jumanji. I can’t think of a single other game it could be and the idea that he just owns a cursed board game and tempts fate every time he has guests is too funny

I know it'll take a while, but I can't wait till you get to season 3!! It's my absolute favourite, the entire circus arc is so amazing!! And do bare in mind some of season 1 and all of season 2 are non-canon to the manga, so bare that in mind while watching that some of what happens/people that appear during that will disappear once you get to season 3 and the book of atlantic movie
We had a mouse running about in the ceiling, making a racket all morning. A colleague came in late, immediately grab a chair, stick his hand in a vent and catch it. Whole thing took like 5 minutes. I still think about it 8yrs later 😅

It's fun to watch series like this with you because while I've heard of this show a good amount of times over the years, it's never really been on my radar to watch, or to make time to watch. I freaking love this show. Can't wait to see how you like it. One thing you should know is that Sebastian is completely dedicated to the aesthetic of being a butler. If there's a way to do it in that style, he will do it.
I was absolutely obsessed with Black butler (and still am) and this series defined so much of my middle school and high school time but after reading the manga and thankfully getting the correct manga adaptations (book of circus, book of murder, book of atlantica and the new one coming out) animated it really kept it going strong!! I wish you luck as the older version of this show is on the cringy side of things now, but if you are able to push through I'd be really excited to see your take on the newer seasons/movies!

I screamed (internally) when this came up in my notifications. Not out of joy though, more out of a weird combination of fear, excitement, and realization that my middle school fazes are all catching up with me VERY QUICKLY. I learned to read Roman Numerals by reading Black Butler. Blue Exorcist is one of my favorite anime; right up there with Fairy Tail, Angel Beats, and Assassination Classroom. Honestly though I'm VERY excited about this reaction series.

I never forgot about Grell but I blocked out the memories of Madame Red... I actually really like her, she's a sorta sad but sweet character.

First point, the Australian accent comes from the English one, so fair point. Secondly, 'some kind of demon, not a butler', Sebastian's catch phrase of dry wit is 'I am one hell of a butler'. It makes me laugh how on point you are so early on. Edit: I wheezed at 'you crumpet sucking freak!'
Danny, man, I'mma let you in on a little secret. Most of the "mundane" conversations are a metaphor for something else. Like the interaction between Sebastian and Ciel about the Italian tea. That was Ciel telling Sebastian to dispose of their "guest".
I remember when this first came out and it took the anime fandom by storm. I showed Black Butler to people who did not like anime and they thoroughly enjoyed it and they hung through it with Season 2. I know there are reasons to use the English dub instead of the original Japanese, but I feel like Ono Daisuke does an incredible job of being charming with a very unsettling menace just behind his tone that English doesn't quite catch. Can't wait to see you react to the rest of the season!

It's fun to watch series like this with you because while I've heard of this show a good amount of times over the years, it's never really been on my radar to watch, or to make time to watch. So watching with you gives me an abridged version of sorts, with funny commentary. Thanks for all the effort you put into making videos!

I was absolutely obsessed with Black butler (and still am) and this series defined so much of my middle school and high school time but after reading the manga and thankfully getting the correct manga adaptations (book of circus, book of murder, book of atlantica and the new one coming out) animated it really kept it going strong!! I wish you luck as the older version of this show is on the cringy side of things now, but if you are able to push through I'd be really excited to see your take on the newer seasons/movies!

I screamed (internally) when this came up in my notifications. Not out of joy though, more out of a weird combination of fear, excitement, and realization that my middle school fazes are all catching up with me VERY QUICKLY.
I learned to read Roman Numerals by reading Black Butler. Blue Exorcist is one of my favorite anime; right up there with Fairy Tail, Angel Beats, and Assassination Classroom.
