Realiana was not written by a Japanese writer. It started as a Korean web-novel writen by Milcha. It was originally published on Kakao Page before Kadokawa got their hands on it and 'japanified' the main characters pre-isekai name.
Lain is SO ahead of its time. It was talking about meme culture way before anything else besides terence mckenna

It's not like ghost in the shell SAC where they literally have a episode discussing the concept of memes in 2004. But lain delves heavily into 90s internet culture, which alot of the predictions came true. You're just thinking about the literal plot points and heady visuals.

@Glass Reflection Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke's Mansion is from South Korea. LNs from South Korea are much more grounded and/or darker in tones and themes than LAs from Japan.
An HD remaster of Lain would be so nice...
Just FYI but Raeliana 's source material was a Korean web novel, which was why I was initially interested in it. I wanted to see if there was a Korean take on this Japanese isekai otome game subgenre. There was no new take which is why I dropped it.

I am so happy Oshi no Ko, The Dangers in My Heart and Raeliana (which was a Korean webtoon, so not technically Japan's interpretation of European nobility during the Industrial era!) have strong standings, but I can't believe Otaku Elf is not even in the top 20!
Yeah, I'm hoping that with the success of series like Raeliana and what I am anticipating for the upcoming Solo Leveling release, that we get more of the manwhas going to series. There are some real gems out there.

Personally The Dangers in My Heart is becoming better and better week after week, so I'm happy its getting the recognition it deserves
I think the reason why Yamada-kun has dropped below Insomniacs and Dangers is because nothing's really happened in terms of the romance aspect.
Seriously despite the, admittedly, weird thoughts of the male MC in episode 1 Dangers in My Heart is really sweet and I recommend anyone who dropped it at episode 1 to give it the 3 episode rule.
Insomniacs is really chill and a lot of the scenery and art is really nice.
I am super excited for deluxe editions of Trigun. I've been asking for it since the first deluxe Berserk was released.

I watched Lain way back in the day and I did NOT understand it. Now that I'm older, and the whole internet thing happened, I should really go back and rewatch it. Probably won't, but it would be interesting to see how a second viewing would go.

They've been re-releasing these beautiful hard cover collections of the soul eater manga called perfect edition. There are 14 books or so and they release one like every 4 months.
And than there’s DH’s hardcover anniversary edition of Chobits which I’m actually a bit behind on collecting wise. Only got the first three and that’s mostly cause of my dad.

TBH, I’m kind of wondering if Dark Horse announced the re-releases this early because of the whole Bigolas Dickolas debacle- which I’m surprised you didn’t cover! I don’t see a whole lot of people in the anime sphere covering it, but it’s just too funny and wholesome to ignore the contributors of one (1) trigun fan to the world of independent English literature.
I think we have a really strong season of anime. I'm circulating through at least 5 of the series you've mentioned here on the Anime Trending rankings, but there are definitely others that I want to add, but I just don't have the time. :( Stupid busy work month.

I would even go so far as to say that Lain is, if anything, MORE relevant now, with AI and virtual chat rooms and instant worldwide communication and such than it was back when the internet was almost all text moving at the speed of molasses in January

Seeing Skip and Loafer making its way up the rankings warms my heart, because it's just such a fun show to watch and every episode it really nails the feelings it wants to get across. For me personally, already a high contender for AOTY so far
It's amazing how this show is growing in popularity despite the lack of edgy content, fan service, or any kind of "Hollywood" storyline. It's even interesting how high this show would jump if we only discussed high school SoL.

Depending on if Oshi no Ko's hype is sustainable I wouldn't be surprised if Skip and Loafer starts topping lists.

All I know is I was nearly catatonic one day after nearly falling down a rabbit hole.
Lain came out only months before Matrix tho. Matrix was developed at the same time as lain, alongside other works with similar themes.
Considering how pricey the Dark Horse deluxe edition printings can be, I think this is just the right amount of time for an announcement. I'm broke AF, so I need to plan stuff out in advance for book sets like it.
I will promptly forget about the Trigun Deluxe editions now. And then, much like Berserk Deluxe, I'll look at it and desire it and never be willing to shell out the necessary amount of money to own it.

i was there for that madness. There was rioting in the streets, burning of crops...but actually just a few nerds losing their minds and it was funny. The hack was pretty harmless to users but did leave the site down for a bit. ( though it did annoy me as i was right in the middle of updating my "currently watching" and "planning" list which already took a bit to do and i had to redo the whole thing again but that's not an actual issue) This had happened before years ago and that one took months. So this few days of down time was relatively very quick.
Last episode of Dangers was my fav I was on the fence but I'm definitely keeping up with it now she definitely carries the show though, and I love Insomniacs not sure how you can like slice and not be into that, honestly for me and a friend we think this is slamming slice season so many good shows of this type, Yamada and Galaxy had great episodes this week too. Very pleased with this seasons offerings personally at least 1 great show a day to watch, and KUBO RETURNS! Yay!
Raeliana is actually by a Korean author. Unfortunate that the anime adaptation arbitrarily changes the name and setting of the original world from Korea to Japan.

Here in the States, Tengoku Daimakyou (Heavenly Delusion) is NOT on Disney Plus. In the US, any property Disney thinks too "spicy" for American audiences, that Disney happens to own, tends to get swept over to Hulu instead, as they try to maintain a façade of "traditional family values" on anything that carries the Disney logo. I can't say how it's handled in Canada or abroad in general, but I get the impression the politically-minded board members and CEO of Disney are worried about "corrupting american youth", something which they don't seem to care so much about abroad.
In fact, considering the current state of things, a certain political party in the US would probably throw an absolute fit if they stumbled upon Heavenly Delusion on Disney Plus, considering some of Heavenly Delusion's more.. spicy content and themes.
This has definitely historically been true, however I wonder how things will shake out later this year. Disney recently announced that they intend to consolidate their content into a single unified app experience (which will be Disney+, not Hulu), so I wonder how they intend to separate out content or if they won't at all.
In light of their legal fight with Florida, I would say you are right about a potential hissy fit being thrown. That being said, I would be glad if they consolidated their Hulu streaming with D+ because Heavenly Delusion is one that I am interested in, but not enough to bite the bullet and get Hulu.
