Haye to be "That guy", but Jesse Ventura was governor of Minnesota, not Texas.
Ah fair do's always thought it was Texas for some reason.
Yeah i live in MN i noticed that too
Representative of the level of research that goes into these videos
Considering who we have now, I would have preferred Ventura.
ReaverPrime: You misspelled "have".
Jesse Ventura was the Governor of Minnesota Not Texas lol
came here to say this :)
Same
Jesse the Mind :)
Bwhahaha. Hadn't even finished the video. Came to see the comments
It was just an oversight. TopHat is a good guy who provides an entertaining product, to most of us for free. Thanks, TH
Definitely one of Capcom's finest hours. Between this and the D&D games, they put a lot of care into the western properties they licensed.
Yup, AVP and D&D: Shadow Over Mystara were some of the finest beat em ups ever made. D&D gets my personal vote for being the better game for its multiple classes, 4 player gameplay, branching paths and economy system and for being a huge game that can take some two hours to finish. But AVP comes a close second.
They were the ones who did that D&D arcade game? Had no idea. I just remember playing/beating it after 5 bucks worth of quarters in Lake Tahoe.
Sony Vita for the win: AvP, Punisher, Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, Captain Commando, D'n'D, etc, etc in a jail broken official product that fits in you pocket.
You my friend know what real games are
still i think streets of rage 2 is easily better than all the capcom beat em ups.
Capcom needs another arcade classics, beat em up bundle collection or something with AvP on it. I will speak it into existence.
They can't sadly as like Cadillacs and Dinosaurs they don't own the license
The only way is to buy the capcom joystick
@@KAMAKAZE_ZC or Emulator like I have
KAMAKAZE ZC that is correct it was released earlier this year in a capcom arcade stick bundle so it is no longer unavailable.
I'd lose my mind with joy if Capcom released an Alien vs Predator set in the Bladerunner Earth (since Ridley Scott says they all inhabit the same universe).
Yeeeaaaaaaaa.....
@@nochannel8434 man, imagine a film of all out war between humans, aliens, engineers and predators. Epic.
This needs to be put on PSN!
Must be some reason behind it. So many years still not in Playstation.
One of my favorite beat em ups of all time.
Another quick point; the Alien vs Predator concept was explored first in comic books. Dark Horse produced the first Alien vs Predator story in 1989, and had a whole load of series during the early 90s, followed by novels written by Steve Perry which came out about the same time as Capcom's game.
Glad to see this awesome game covered.
I had a feeling that Lynn Kurosawa had something to do with Ibuki. Her face is an amalgamation of Alpha chun li and Ibuki. Maybe also because it was by some of the same artists.
I had always believed Linn Kurosawa was a character from the Dark Horse comics. But I guess that was a different character named Machiko Noguchi.
Also, there is an Easter Egg in this game that ties Schaffer’s robotic upgrade to the Terminator.
Look up “Predator vs Terminator fan theory.” It went viral a few times.
@Lassi Kinnunen Ya I know, but the Easter Egg implies that Robo-Schaffer came directly from Cyberdyne/Hyperdyne Systems, which is a pretty big deal.
Found you because of your streets of rage videos.... After watching and loving those this was the first game I thought of to search for on your channel. It is by far the best beat'Em'up ever created. Period. Man I miss 90s arcades in the local malls....
"A human enemy in a mech-suit. How Japanese?"
Doesn't he know it's from Aliens?
yea im not sure hes watched the alien movies
The mech-suit is from the final battle in Alien 2: Top Hat did not comment the tank ride between these stages is usage in the Alien 2 movie. He didn’t see Alien 2.
I was about to say. That "Japanese Mech Suit", as he calls it, is the Loader from the end of Aliens. A huge nod to that movie in this game.
@@vogelvitor Aliens you mean there is no Alien 2
@@markpugh6808 Aliens 2: The new batch
That mech suit is a power loader from the alien films! The marines use it to store ammo boxes, cargo etc
Fantastic game...this and punisher are my go to best em ups away from the streets of rage series
I loved this game as a kid. Me and some friends were talking about how hard it was to find one of these games out in the wild until a few months ago a new barcade opened up here and one of the games they have is AvP! Needless to say I spend loads of time there now.
Megatron22 we have a place in the DFW area called Freeplay Arcade and they have it. I play it when I can.
I recently bought the pandora saga console, and this plus about 10 thousand other games are on it. Best £90 I ever spent.
I've played this game a few times now, and it's fantastic.
Man this was a great game. Little protip: you can top off Pulse Rifle or Smart Gun mags by picking up other guns. At that point it becomes a shooter, though.
Amazing Video as always. Just one thing I caught. Jesse Ventura was the Govenor of Minnesota not Texas.
Hey but we all slip up from time to time. Keep up the great videos
Defo their greatest. Still play it regeularly when inebriated with my pals
The sprite art for this is phenomenal. Every character and the Aliens type are so iconic they were made into toys.
I didn’t even know this one existed! Awesome content! Thank you!
If only a new beat em up of AvP got the same love as Streets of Rage 4...
Instant watch. Thanks again my Man!
Great job homie. Love from Los Angeles!
Great job. Love your videos and game reviews.
-I was a lucky kid when I played this awesome beat em' up back in 2006 on an arcade cabinet.
this game is my #1 beatem up rerelease request. i would only use the predators but ive always appreciated the selectable marines as well. excellent video, my good sir.
The shout out in the end was 🔥💯
how to brighten up a lazy sunday ? a video from good old Big Daddy Top hat .
Another great video! Looking forward to the eventual Punisher video, and hoping you can also do Knights Of The Round at some point.
Why do people not take 1 second to check the comments section? Someone already mentioned the Jesse Ventura mistake and Mr. Top Hat responded to it admitting his mistake. And yet there are like 10 more comments made after that pointing out the same mistake.
They don't bother to read the comments before doing it. Granted UA-cam made it harder to do that a long time ago, but considering that I saw like 3 people at the top of the comments say that it should be pretty easy to see that.
I did...but fuck that, I wanna present my bitch session too. Because 1st amendment rights...bitches 😎
Jesse Ventura was governor of convincing Chris Jericho to get his college degree before starting his wrestling career.
@@junkshun626 1st amendment is really meant to protect the people from the government. Despite what people seem to think, it doesn't really give you the right to say what you want when which is why Mr. Top Hat could pull the ban hammer on you if you say something he doesn't like.
Basically, the government can't censor you much but Top Hat or even UA-cam can.
@@CONSOLETRUTH2 hahaha correct, in all technicalities, although I tend to run my channel rather democratically, I have absolute authoritarian power over what can and cannot be seen in this comment section!
Thank you for this, you validate what I’ve always believed and why this game is my go-to arcade rom. Keep up the hard work!
I can smell the theater arcade I used to play this in the '90s just looking at the game footage. Damn fine game.
Finally beat this gem the other day. Thank God for Retropie
God, my brother and I love this game a lot - skipped school frequently to go to the only arcade in town that had it.
New subscriber! Im digging the content!
Just played the game for the first time today. It was fantastic! I'm hooked.
More or less had stopped playing arcade machines by the mid 90s so I obviously just missed this one. And if it wasn't for getting the pandora saga console I would never have known about it.
Thanks a lot for documenting one of my favourite arcade games.👍
I spent way too much money into this, back in the day... 😅
Just a few quick notes :
While no home port was ever released, Koch Media’s officially licensed Capcom Home Arcade console/arcade stick combo does include the original game. A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one. 🥰
NECA actually holds the Aliens and Predator licenses for just about anything in the 7’’ scale. Movies, comics, video games, even the old zany Kenner designs. Check out their Alien Queen and Concrete Jungle Predator figures in particular, they’re superb.
The combat engine in this game is amazing. Fighting just felt so satisfying. What a classic title.
This game was like experiencing street fighter II the first time again. There were special moves that came out but didn't know how to pull them off and there were no FAQs out. It was like a decade later to learn how to do the orange predator Blanka ball. Linn was the best with down stab, air throw, and bounce off side of screen you would try to stay in the air for the whole stage
I love this game i remember playing this at the arcade bring back memories
Classic game, used to play it at our local bowling alley. Works great in Fightcade too!
This game was one of several ones which were internally supported by the emulator developped for the Tectoy's Zeebo console. The emulator was used to 're-release' several titles on the console. But ultimately, this title was not officially released on the console (Zeebo).
Awesome commentary bro great video makes my day💯👍🏽⭐⭐⭐⭐
Capcom not having Alien vs Predator, Cadillacs and Dinosaurs and The Punisher on a collection home port is a real kick in the junk.
Due to all the weirdos out there who seem inexplicably annoyed that a foreigner got the name of the state wrong that Jesse governed, this ladies and gentlemen is the prime example of the Mandela effect coming into play. This is a fact I felt I always knew, so never felt the need to check a source, particularly when you take into account it has nothing to do with gaming anyway and it was just free flowing additional trivia. I would like to kindly ask those who are expressing anger to please get a grip - I acknowledged I was wrong within a few minutes of the upload, so not much else I can do! So please kindly shut up!
I live in MN and some of my friends helped Ventura's campaign. All I did was chuckle when you got it wrong as I wouldn't be surprised if select Minnesota citizens think he was the governor of Texas as well. It's alright as your comments section fixes it. I was just personally Mandela effected this week too with the spelling of "guardian". I've been spelling it "gaurdian" for decades! Thanks for the great video.
By the way, lots of People angry because of the "Japanese Mecha". I took it as a joke... Don't know why the sand storm had to popped up...
Love this game. Many, many quarters later I even beat it at the arcade as a kid.
Both the video wanted and needed. Last time I played this was in Japan 2017. As magical then as it was when I first played it at the Games Room in the Elephant and Castle.
You can find the game on the pandora saga console. Just paid £90 for one off of ebay and it comes with thousands of vintage arcade games built in.👍
@0:41 Would love to see a Simpsons arcade review. Love all your reviews, especially all these beat 'em up reviews
This game is absolutely fantastic.
Objectively hits all the right notes.
4 characters, each unique, insane high combos. Good variation of levels, and fantastic bitmap design that looks amazing still today.
Up there with shadow over mysteria as capcoms perfection in side scrolling fighters. Kurosawa combos are incredible and make make for a massive count.
Loved this in the arcades.
This is a great arcade game. Finally got to play it after buying that gaudy looking Capcom arcade plug and play. Crazy it never got a home port.
Excellent video .
Great video, and excellent breakdown. I played this game often at the movie theater when I was a kid. A Question and mind you I am only asking since you mentioned it at the beginning of the video. I am curious, was this game actually based on the scrapped script, or is this speculation? Also I understand that you release these videos on a schedule so I understand that you cant create a super detailed doc regarding the subject matter.
I'm just waiting for the day you're going to talk about Battle Circuit, so obscure, and so good, never released on any console as far as I know, it should be included in those never ending Capcom Collections... I'm loving all your past videos!!
It's included in the Capcom Beat em Up Collection!
thank you for replying 3 years later! i will check it out @@juliusbelmont350
I always used to play with schaefer, he's my favourite character 😁
Didn't know Lynn Kurosawa had a few more appearances after this game--or that she would be whom Ibuki from SF 3 would be based from. Was nice that the toy company in 2017 would do figures for this game though.
This is the one time you need to remove the question mark from the title. lol Hands down Capcom's best side-scrolling beat 'em up. Thanks for making this one!
I think it's the best too, but Battle Circuit is close to as good, arguably more if you value its originality.
love your stuff top hat
i do question if you've watched the alien movies though, the "little aliens" are referred to as face huggers and the fight in the mech suit is from Aliens
Mate,
Just been to Dan ibbertson's SOR4 gaming history. Can't wait for yours!
Also for those who wasn't aware, if you are a fan of the Street Fighter Alpha series, in Alpha 2 on Ken's stage. Lt.Kurosawa has a background cameo appearance in the pool along with Felecia from Darkstalkers and other characters.
I would buy this off the PS store in a heartbeat. I never got to play it as a kid and I love the way it looks.
Jesse Ventura was the governor of my home state, Minnesota...not Texas ☺️
This is one of my favorite Beat em up brawler arcade and Capcom should make another classics compilation collection along with other Capcom arcade beat em up brawler and home console beat em up brawler games like Final Fight 2 and Final Fight 3 and your next video you should do the Punisher Arcade, Warriors Of Fate, and Armor Warriors.
I loved this game! Reminds me of my childhood....
Thank you Mr Tophat.
I saw this game as a arcade cabinet in the background of one of Game Attack's videos back in 2017 or 18 i believe. When i played this game I was stoked. And i immediately fell in love with Lynn Kurosawa (Of course knowing me XD). This game also explained a lot on why i kept seeing this woman in SFA2 and SF3 a lot and when i play as Sylphie based on her in Namco X Capcom in a fighting game called MUGEN it also explains why she was dressed like Lynn back when i use to ask myself these questions years before i played AVP. If you wanna look into another all original beat em up game, I highly suggest Dynamite Dux by SEGA. The main protagonist heavily influenced on of Sega's mos beloved character from Sonic the Fighters, Bean the Dynamite.
You need to cover the Aliens arcade game next since that was a beat'em up as well.
It's also on Capcom's Home Arcade. And besides NECA, there were also miniatures of Linn and Dutch from the game for Prodos Games AvP miniature game.
That wasn’t a “mech-suit”, it was a power loader, haven’t you seen Aliens?
I was 15 when this came out. My brother and Friend all went to the arcade with $20 in quarters and finished it. Good times fond memories of my youth.
This arcade game is one of my favorite beat em ups. I only wished they released it on the modern home consoles.🎮🕹😀
It's on the pandora saga console. 👍
Great game and great video
Fantastic work, wouldn't we all love a Xbox/PlayStation port, but license rights mean we probably never will
AvP is available for home play on the Capcom home arcade which cane out last year
What a coincidence. I have been recently playing the great arcade hits of the 90s (X-Men, Gijoe and Alien Vs Predator)
FYI, Jesse Ventura was the governor of Minnesota not Texas. Besides that, great coverage of a game that’s should be playable on all consoles now. Long over due.
YAY! Been waiting for this one! Release it for consoles already. Shame it wasn't on that Beat em up Bundle that was on Xbox!
Capcom don't own the license which is why this and many other Capcom Arcade games didn't get a console port
First time I played this was back in 2003, a friend of mine had a MAME CD for PC with games on it and I stumbled across this amazing game for the first time when I was 13 yrs old. It's sad that due to licensing issues it didn't make it to the Capcom Beat Em Up Bundle cause it feels "Incomplete"...
Favorite game of all time. I wish somehow this could be released again somehow.
One of the best beat'em ups of all time.
Not certain what the future holds for the franchises in Disney's hands.
Along with Terminator this is my favorite movie genre series. Naturally I love the games but only got to play this once in the arcade.
You should add Batman Returns to the list of possible beat em up videos. It's a pretty cool SNES exclusive one with some unique features.
That mechanic robot is the ware house robot Bishop is using in Aliens.
Thank you guys for Voting for this game it’s still my fav Beat’em up to this day
Absolutely love this game.
I got to play this arcade game and I like alien and predator movies series they are very very cool. 😀👍🎮
This is what the first avp movie should’ve been or could’ve been!!🤔
This does tickle my fancy indeed🎩
A 16x9 remake with ability to play with 4 players local/online would be my holy grail. Konami did something similar with the X-Men beat'em up years ago. Rights issues shouldn't be too complicated. Disney owns the ip, and work together with the Marvel vs Capcom games. Neca toys and Prodos Games recently had licensing. And Capcom released it on their arcade stick console last year.
To the Top Hat Gaming Man, I enjoyed the video, but with all due respect, there is one detail that you left out about this game. Capcom’s Alien vs. Predator, technically, did come out for gamers to enjoy at home, via the Capcom Home Arcade plug-&-play stick, as it is one of 16 games built into the product. Just some info share.
I must play it sometime
love capcom’s Aliens Vs Predator. The whole reason i built a mame cabinet to play it in true arcade style
This needs a sequel. If Cold Iron made it I would be happy.
My fav beatem up of all time.
Hope we get a Capcom beat em up bundle vol. 2
Ventura was the gov of Minnesota, not Texas. Great video tho! My fave arcade game
Would be great if this is followed by a review of Capcom's D&D beat'em ups.
Aliens vs. Predator is a cool arcade game I have the Super Nintendo version which it doesn't compare to the arcade version but still both versions was a blast to play.
One of the best composed and designed by BENGUS / CMRK. It got ported to the Capcom stick that was over $300 and was only 2 player which was blasphemy on a home port. One of the most beautiful and memorable games. It’s funny to see a Yautja in dystopian LA grab an enormous sized hot dog or a whole chicken.
"That is a lot of governance" 🤣
This is my favorite arcade beat em up by miles! It sucks that the only way to get an official licensed copy of it in lieu of an actual cabinet is through that awful Capcom Arcade stick thing, or through a supergun I guess.
It's great on the pandora saga console. 👍
We need a movie (or anime) based on this game
