Easily one of my favorite arcade beat em up games of all time, in the mid to late stages of the game the difficulty ramps up and that's what kept people pumping in quarters as AvP the arcade game was that good. Yes sadly and shockingly bizarre that AvP arcade never once made it home to any home consoles of any generation. I'm excluding the Capcom arcade stick plug and play since it's not considered a mainstream console.
I always like your videos before I watch them because I know they are going to be good!. Alien vs Predator games always seem to be oddly varied and this game despite being a strange concept seems to work very well.
Ahh the memories when I was homeschooled for two years while both my parents were in college I spent much time after my assignments for a day was done in the student union arcade which was the first place I ever played this. I surprised the Aliens game came out in 90 I remember playing it a lot at the game room of my favorite childhood pizza place (also the first place I ever played a video game.) when I was in first grade. They must of got it shortly after release which was rare. Usually it took a year or two for them to get games. They didn't get the original Ninja Turtles arcade game until 92 or 93 for example. And naturally Dutch looks like the actor who portrayed him in Predator. Dutch is ultimate proof that Arnold characters never get hindered by age only growing deadlier with time. Edit: The SNES game was ok but it commuted what I feel is one of the deadly sins of beat em ups of that era, or any non-handheld platform past the 3rd generation/8-bit era of gaming. No multiplayer mode.
I always look forward to your documentaries. They are always so well done and made with care and passion. Thanks for doing such a great job, and keep up the good work! Big thumbs up!
Best UA-camr of 2020 for me. Given how tough 2020's been PatmanQC's been knocking it out of the park all year. Deserves way more than 50k subs, at least 10x that.
I read the original movie script this video games was based on. It was pretty good. It had the humans marines teaming up with a predator or two taking on the aliens. I believe the main predator character was named long horn. The predator ended up saving them killing the queen
Im so glad your covering one of Capcoms Best Beatem ups ever created! ( this Dungeona and Dragons, Punisher and so much more!) It's always a treat watching your input and knowledge of these great titles! Also could you review more Capcom arcade beat-em-ups from other franchises?
I remember when I first played this game was at "Block Party" in Indianapolis in 1997.(Dave&Busters before Dave&Busters existed) I was drinking and playing and got to the final boss and didn't have enough money on my pre-loaded game card for another credit to beat it. I was pissed. Super fun game to play though.
I don't know what your prerequisites are for doing a video on a game, and you may have already covered this one, though I couldn't find it. I would love to see a video On the C64 'Forbidden Forest'. This game was my first foray into PC gaming, and holds a dear place in my heart and mind. It may not be well known enough to cover, but man I would love a big ole deep dive into its history. Anyway, love the videos, keep up the killer work, and I know I speak for everyone here when I say, thanks for all the hard work and dedication!
Thank you. I used to love that game on the Commodore and have thought about doing a documentary on it in the past. It all depends on what I can dig up about the game. Thanks for the nice words, glad you enjoyed the content
Love this game. It's up there with Golden Axe : Revenge of Death Adder. I played both at an arcade in the basement of the student union building of my university
Great video on one of my all time favorite beat em ups. However you forgot to mention that Capcom did release an arcade joystick plug in that came with classic arcade games and Alien vs. Predator was one of them.
This game is freakin awsome not enough is said about it . I'm glad you took the time to make this video . When I was a kid they had this game and dungeons and dragons at my local pizza hut and I couldn't get enough of both of them
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries Sadly you are correct in that it never had a home port back when it was more relevant to mainstream gamers. This and The Simpsons was odd to me that they never had a proper console port back then.
That Predator game on nes was literally one of hardest games on that console. Beat that game when I was like 7 after raging at my nes for days. Remember being a bit disappointed in the last boss but here it is 30 years later and I can still distinctly remember the moment I actually beat that damn game.
9:57 It has. Last year in the Capcom Home Arcade. The funky arcade controller with a bunch of built in games. It was released in Oct of 2019 and it has this Alien vs Predator.
I found a cab of this back on a family holiday in 1996. Cost me about £5 to finish it and had loads just stood watching including the staff of the arcade but I didn't get the highest score !!!! One of the staff said the guy with the high score was still here on holiday but he didn't finish it. I literally spent the rest of the holiday waiting for him to turn up and we both went through the whole game pointing out things to the other that we didn't notice on our first runs. We both finished it. But I had the high score !!!!!!! Best holiday of my life.
No mention on the AvP version for the Atari Jaguar? The best game on that platform and alone justification to get that console at that time. I had even my PS4 spoiled son completely drawn in despite its 25 years old graphics.
One of, if not *the* best, side-scrolling beat-em-ups ever! Fun fact: the pulse rifles and smart guns you can steal from enemies use the same authentic sound-effect as the Aliens movie! It's a tragedy this never got a home console conversion. Stupid licensing issues. I'm curious about this unreleased 1993 AvP film. But overall, the less said about AvP films, the better.
Great video! Thanks. There are still many arcade games that might never be released to home consoles due to movie or actor related licensing. That stinks. I never played this game, but it looks like a good challenge. The basic Alien soldiers in this game are easy to beat understandably. If a face hugger attaches, it would have to be removed instantly to avoid infection.
That's true. If the copyrights ever expired and became public property, then I bet we'd see a home version. But that could be in another hundred years or so. ;)
The version I played of this was in Coney Island's Elderado arcade. It was no cabinet, but a 55 inch rear-projected screen, with the joysticks being separated via podium in 1994. it was massive
@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries Yea and the cabinet was later converted to that robot beat em up Capcom did, later on, it was also at ElDorado, great video btw!

I would had loved to play this game in a console or see how it would had looked on SNES considering that FINAL FIGHT was ported in the system. The closest thing I played it on outside the arcade was in emulation and used on my PSP. I love this game so much and I replayed it countless of times.
