I haven’t used soap on my skin for thirty years. I wake up, wash with water, dry my face, spray it with organic rose water, then put a good amount of organic cold pressed oil. Now that I’m living on the Mediterranean I use olive. The dermatologist last year here, asked me if I’m lying about my age and so did the cardiologist. I also use baking soda in the shower to exfoliate my face and neck twice a week.

I had hormone positive breast cancer 21 years ago. I was advised by my oncologist not to use petrochemical products such as vaseline because they contain xenoestrogens and are endocrine disrupters.
Since the skin is a living organ I would rather not use anything that might make me have a recurrence. I find castor oil can replace vaseline pretty much for any use.

I started this a decade ago. A met an elderly gay man at a wedding. I knew he had to be in his late 70’s or early 80’s because he was the older brother I my mom’s best friend. I remarked that his skin was amazing, and I asked him what he used. He said “don’t tell anybody but I’ve been using Vaseline all over my face for many years.”.
Holy moly, I’ve been doing it ever since. It ABSOLUTELY works. I use a small sponge to apply a thin layer of aquaphar gently all over. It does not cause acne. I’ve had acne and stopped using all those medications. I wash my face with a small amount of rice powder. It’s SO smooth.

I am chuckling. Grew up just outside Boston with mom and grandparents from Maine. Harsh Winters. After all our other apparel went on Vasaline was always the last thing that mom or gran smoothed all over our face. This protected us from wind burn, and the cold. It worked and I did it to my kids. We swore by "Vicks" and "Noxema" as well and were big milk drinkers. Perfect skin. At 64, sleep, fasting, facial oils, almost no cosmetics, k2 and my own homemade stock broths and still pretty amazing skin. Liver and onions and Cod Liver oil too. Sometimes simple and old fashioned, just works. " Put out enough of a glow and you'll blind others to your wrinkles" and "pretty begins on the inside", two family mottos to live by.

Less free radicals out there. And last, todays life is way more stressing than 20 years ago. And thats key. Just wanted to add to this (I am no doctor) but I've been doing this since I was a teen. After I wash my face I do NOT towel dry. I leave it wet and on top of that I use my petroleum jelly. It soaks up the water and is much less gooey in fact it feels like it was instantly absorbed into my skin. I've never done all that extra towel sleeping scenarios because the water and the jelly became like a moisturizer. If you need to, use more water and in about 5 min your skin should be dry but soft and shiny.. I am 41 and always get told I look so young whatever number that is. Try this with a wet face and never towel dry your face. Use your ring finger to apply. God bless.

My grandmother always showed me to lather it all over my face and neck at night and I also use it in the morning after I wash my face. I started using it since I was around 15 yrs old. I do believe in the good of using petroleum jelly on the skin. Best home treatment for scrapes and burns I get in the kitchen! My problem with applying it overnight are twofold: one is that I have very long hair. Even in a ponytail it will get stuck in the jelly on my face. Not good. two is that I sleep on a satin pillowcase. Again the jelly will stick to the pillowcase. However, I do love using petroleum jelly (any brand) on the face, especially around the eyes and applying a hot, wet towel for 15 minutes or sit in front of a home facial steamer. If I do this at least 2 or 3 times per week I notice a reduction of crows' feet and my skin feels amazing.

"What's old is new again", a beauty trick women have used for generations to keep their hands and feet smooth is, before bedtime, to slather them with Vaseline and then slip on cotton gloves or socks and wash off in the morning. Household cleaning products were harsh and it worked well to curb red irritation and cracked skin. Facial slugging was usually with cold creams like Pond's or Nozema, the latter had menthol or something in it and was popular for use on sunburns too.

Aveeno eczema care moisturizing cream is better. It has petroleum jelly as well as oats, glycerin, ceramides, and panthenol. I’ve tried using Vaseline before and I did not find that it moisturizer my skin that well, it just sits on top of it. I use aveeno to slug my skin at night and I wake up in the morning with perfectly hydrated skin. I’ve used it for years now. Note that I had eczema as a child growing up and I have always dealt with very dry, flaky skin. I also damaged my skin barrier in my early twenties by using too many chemical exfoliants which made it worse. Nothing has worked like aveeno. When my skin is at its worst, the only thing that works is oats. I use the aveeno oat bath pouches to make face masks and I use those and slug my face with the aveeno cream until it heals. Nothing works as well. I also found that Vaseline triggered my rosacea. Oh and I live in canada lol so I have to really layer up on the aveeno in the winter.

Stinging nettle tea can clear up even severe excema. In a week. You can make tea and serve it cold, mix it with juice if desired. It doesn’t taste bad, it’s mellow and just tastes like green beans. Babies can drink it from a bottle. It’s about ten dollars a week or twenty, for an adult, if you buy the nettles from a health food store. Once the excema is under control you can greatly reduce the amount of tea, and just avoid irritating foods and soaps.
It grows in rich loamy soil and you can get seeds. It grows here in Quebec but the cold winters limit regrowth. It’s also a good food source when cooked, like spinach.

@@tatianaroche1591 hi basically I get a small amount, enough to cover my lashes rub it on my lashes top and bottom with clean hands, all around my eyes, until I see all makeup has soften! Then I remove it with a cotton pad and cotton swab for the closer lashes on the bottom and around the edges by the tear drop! I repeat it several times until I see the pad is clear then I wash my face! One last time! And that it! I had lots of problems with sty but now I never get them ! Thank Gxd because they were very painful amd my eye would get swollen to the point several times my sty had to drain and is very painful! I hope this helps!

Just remember, skin is our largest organ, and anything we put on our skin can pass through it. I knew a woman in her late 80’s who only used Vit. E on her face and the back of her hands. Her skin was beautiful and flawless. She would buy Vit. E in the little gelcap “pearls,” snip the Pearl with cleaned scissors she used just for that purpose, and apply. If you’re using a petroleum jelly product, you must always thoroughly wash your skin before applying it, or you may get a fungal infection or other skin infection. And always keep the jar of product as “pure” as you can; don’t put it on your hands, feet, etc., and then use the same jar for your face. The product can get bacteria in it. And go easy with it, too. Me? I’m sticking with seed oils, which also work wonders and, imo, are a safer alternative to a petroleum product.

Actually this is proven to be true for my skin, I have dry-combination skin. I religiously applied castor oil/vaseline on my lashes & brows, the oil would dissipate to the rest of the thin skin surrounding my eyes, I massage my eyes every night in circular upward motions, miraculously, now 38, I don't have a single wrinkle anywhere on the eyes. It also helps with my dark circles and I have none. I have never bought an eye cream because I don't need to. I just need my oil & vaseline 😻😻💯

    Just my personal experience:
I’m very oily skin and love to put vaseline on my face & whole body. It’s great to do after a shower when your body is still wet and the skin is warm, as i find it’s very easy to massage in very little product, and it’s very effective imo. I don’t know about slathering it on but for thin layers it works a treat!
It also makes a great replacement for mascara if youre a wizard with an eyelash curler. 😄
Warning: when i was younger and was very acne prone i would wash and medicate my skin so much to the point of dehydrating my face, yet the oils would ooze even worse from my skin. (Gross, right?!) My face looked like oily crepe paper. But a few days of Vaseline always helped to restore the balance, allow my skin cells water layer to replenish and slow the oiliness down.
