This is one of their best songs you just don’t know it yet. Give it time you will play it a million times. Everyone say the same thing and they just can stop playing it. This album will be a Masterpiece.
Can’t wait for the album to drop in April of 2023. The last 2 they’ve gotten back to sounding so kick ass again with Death Magnetic and Hardwired To Self Destruct

This absolutely sounds like old school Metallica. So glad y'all reacted to this! They are most definitely THE Metal gods. Such a great song, but to me, nothing will ever be as good as the early stuff. I first saw Metallica perform live in 1988 with my friends as a teenager. I will be seeing them for the 11th time when they come to Dallas next year, but I will be taking my sons with me. Full circle. 🤘🖤

FYI 1st album Kill 'Em All is widely regarded as THE first thrash album, ever. They literally defined the genre. Metal + punk = thrash. 🤘
When I first heard this tune the other night I was kinda torn, as far as my initial impression. Now a couple days have gone by and I have found myself repeatedly going back to listen to it, over and over. The chorus where James screams the song title is everything in this track. That and the kick drums. But just the way James climbs the ladder vocally to belt out the chorus is such an amazing hook.
This almost feels like a sorta power metal almost-but-not-quite Dokken-type vibe meets British new wave meets sped-up Load riffage meets a more polished version of Hit the Lights. It's gonna be a go-to live song (the lyrics kinda reflect that) and the song's energy and the boys' own energy are undeniable. I can't explain it, but all I know is my ear loves it.
I'm very happy Metallica is back with new tunes and I'm also very happy they kept the album under wraps so now it's arriving soon - to MY mind - rather than them announcing it 2 years out and then us playing the waiting game.

Lux Aeterna translates to "A defunct laundry soap that you can't get rid of".

There is a metric sh*t-ton of Motorhead in there - not a criticism, just an observation - the drums could have been 'Filthy' Phil Taylor at the height of his powers. Here's hoping the new material has the same legs. 10 out of 10.

With Kill 'Em All being my all-time favorite album, I agree that this is old school. And you are very astute in that I agree that it's more along the lines of The Prince or Stone Cold Crazy or Killing Time from Garage recordings.
I like this tune, the boys are really trying, and James sounds amazing. But I regard it as more very good and fun as opposed to stellar (you see, with your spacey t-shirts, I thought I'd use a space word!🤔😆).
Ant wait to hear more. This maybe their best album in while and I liked death and hardwired

Actually they wanted to call their first album Metal Up Your Ass, but the record company wouldn't allow it. They shopped for a different record company, but none would allow the name. As a reaction to this, Metallica said "Kill 'em all then" (referring to the record companies), and their first album title was born.

@@raymondproseus6923 That sounds right. Maybe 15-25 years into their career? It would have been a collection of some sort, not a studio album. 40 years of Metallica releases has my brain a bit scrambled.😆
@@raymondproseus6923 there were demos floating around back then in '82 called No Life 'til Leather. My friend has one. And of course we all had the Metal Up Your Ass t-shirts from that first tour. I got mine on the Lighten' tour in '85 Sacramento, Ca Memorial Auditorium. Got to meet the dudes too. Good old days.

Glad to see them having fun. Metallica will always be family to me. I don't dig this song much though. The songwriting is really paint by numbers fluff and the chorus feels too close to their cover of It's electric.
I could also hear Diamond Head in there....and some Motorhead Overkill.
Straightforward solo...bro that was like a solo falling apart lol. Slayer influence indeed slathered in motorhead. No offence, analysis was great and song is a thrash bopper.
Too bad that Metallica couldn't be as hardcore metal like they used to be. Wish they could be more like Orbit Culture
